Mayor, are we going to see more mixed use developments in nlv like that have with town square or Union Village in henderson . Mayor john lee we have a gateway in nlv off lake mead. I15 and lake mead. The citys been buying up that real estate for years. Anybody in that area, that redevelopment area, that wants to sell the city, the city wants to buy from you. Were working plans witha that would look. We understand the huge impact zappos had on fremont street. Even though thats an urban area, our area is urban, we would like to be the surbaban area for that wonderful workforce thats up there and of course, for our whole nlv region. But yes, we have that planned for that area. And then out on north 5th, as the road continues to go on up to the 215, its in the plans there. But thatll be quite a ways away before that happens. Michelle Mortensen our next question we also lee i was just with the family the other day. Things are going well for them. Theyre looking at their home, their situation, where theyre going to move, theyve already started dismantling the operation a little bit. Of that 153 acres, only 30 of it is actually emcompassed by the pig farm itself. The rest of the land is ready to be built on whenever. The dismantling of the pig farm will probably be the first thing that happens. But its in esgrow, things are happening. I know the fond of the pig farm, except for the smell. Thats gonna be changing in the near future, but thats been a good little business for our community. Were happy with that family. Michelle Mortensen they do great with the food recycling too. brian loftus that they do. Lets go from that to Faraday Future. Whats happening with that project . Progress being made . Mayor john lee yes thats exciting. They just pulled their grading permit. They will start the process for them going forth putting the plans together to build that pad the rtc just passed on their agenda, the railroad spur that will come off the Railroad Line and run out to them. That was just approved. And the Water District just passed the new distribution, billing processes so thats happening. And nv energy is so important to everything were doing out there. The faraday people are brilliant, theyre masterfully moving forth. Lots of jobs are gonna be created out there and the infrastructure is going to bring a lot more business in that area so big happening at apex. Michelle Mortensen we also want to know about the kiehl ranch historic park. It opened 4th of july weekend. What has been the reaction now that it has been open a few months . Mayor john lee the kiehl ranch is a Historic Place. The original mormon fort and the kiehl ranch was just a farm that was built up in the area. There was a death there early on, it became an orchard and a place where people could come to get a divorce. Then it became a place where if people just wanted to come in to enjoy staying in las vegas early years, and it kinda fell into disrepair the last 50 years. And nlv has been with Southern Nevada public lands act, blm to restore that Historic Place so we have a lot of history here. Fact is, most of the history in our valley actually started in nlv. Thats where the artesian wells were, and its exciting for us to participate past for our future residents. brian loftus weve done some cool stories on that history. You can always find them on lasvegasnow. Com. Mayor, i picture you sitting down with other city leaders and meetings always going long. You guys have a lot on your plate. Mayor john lee i have a rule. Any meeting over an hour is a beating. We cant do that, so were in, were out. We run it like a business. Were excited about what were producing, we have great mayors in this valley all working together. The residents here. brian loftus beautiful. Efficiency is king. Mayor john lee it works well in nlv. brian loftus thanks mayor. If youd like to submit a question, go to las vegas now dot com, click on mondays with the mayors. Thanks for being here. Mayor john lee my pleasure, thank you Sherry Swensk a little haze looking across the city. And likely well see some california wildfire smoke. The westerly winds wont be as strong and that could allow smoke to meander into the area. And not move out as quickly as it did yesterday. Highs in the low 90s today. One of coolest labor days in years. Mt charleston will be nice and mild for hiking and picnics. While the lake wont be too hot but the sunscreen is still very the air is very dry. Temps will steadily rise a little more each day. Until they reach low 100s by the weekend. Our last 100degree day last year was the very last day of september demetria, how are the roads . Traffic is still clear along the south t along the interstate, things look pretty good. No delays in the spaghetti bowl, but we are starting to see more traffic south of town at i15 and primm.
