Why isnt the law enforced concerning the stripped off areas in parking lots where motorcycles park illegally, around handicap parking . And that is from mac Sheriff Joe Lombardo well they are enforced. Theres 2 reasons for private parking lots we can Issue Citations. Thats handicap and fire zones. If youre in violation of either one of those. We have volunteers who issue those citations. Id be comfortable saying we have around 600 citations year. It is, granted theres a lot of parking lots and its labor intensive, but we do Issue Citations on a constant basis associated with those crimes. 600 citations year, it is enforced. Kirsten Joyce second question is from tris bowman. Street racing with small cars that have very loud mufflers race around an empty warehouse parking lot behind our neighborhood very late at night Early Morning when the warehouses are closed. Motorcycles are now using the parking lot. Is there a contact with metro that we could call when its taking place to put a stop to it . Sheriff joe lombardo describing. Depending on where its occurring theres a substation thats responsible for that geography. If you go to our website, itll give you that geography and the Contact Numbers you can call. Or you can just call 311 and theyll give you direction. We receive those type of calls on a constant basis and then we direct on a weekly basis to officers to go out and make an adjustment or enforcement. Kirsten Joyce okay, so call 311 but then it might be a bitf respond, but you will respond, thats good. Sheriff joe lombardo or go to the website and find out the individual substation phone number and call there and they can take the complaint too. brian loftus the location, time its happening and maybe theyll resolve it. Why do metro helicopters fly so low over neighborhoods on the northeast side of town, in comparison to the rest of the city . Sheriff joe lombardo thats probably not accurate. Northeast is the corridor where the canyon tour operators come through, so theres 200 of those that come through a day. It might be perceived as a metro helicopter, but they are able to fly between 400600 feet. Thats a normal altitude patrol helicopters run, the tour runners fly at a higher altitude, theyre required to. Law enforcement is l lower. But they go the same altitude throughout the valley, its not the ne in particular but theres alot more traffic associated with helicopters in that area, so it might be a perception.
