You may not know nevada is one of only five states in the country that still has little regulation when it comes to keeping wild animals. The state only regulates the possession of indigenous wildlife. Which means, yes, there are many places in the state where its absolutely legal to keep an Exotic Animal as a pet. Tiger, even a black panther from a home in pahrump. Its dangerous to them. Its dangerous to the community and more often then not these animals end up living in abysmal conditions. Police found the animals living in cages on the backside of the property. The news isnt surprising to Exotic Animal specialist lisa wathne. These are wild animals, even when theyreor hand, they retain theyre wild instincts. A bigger problem, she says, is that nevada has virtually no laws when it comes to these types of animals. Its pretty much seen as a haven for individuals with private manageries of big cats, bears, or primates.
