on. in oakland, ktvu channel 2 new >> firefighters are putting out hot spots tonight from a grass fire that broke out this afternoon along a freeway. the fire burned alongside interstate 680 in the 1400 block of good year road. about five to seven acres actually burned. the fire officials say the fire started about three clock this afternoon when a tree fell and brushed against a power line causing a spark. about three dozen firefighters managed to extinguish the flames in about an hour. the sheriff's office is investigating a possible case of animal neglect that resulted in the deaths of several horses. a rancher, driving by, noticed them on a fenced property at 580 near tracy. five of the horses were dead. two were still alive. severely dehydrated. investigators say it appears a arguing outside with a woman who was his ex- girlfriend and wented in of the unit and came out with a knife and a gun. >> she said what? you are going to stab me now? then i heard her scream. >> reporter: then, after the stabbing turner apparently turned the gun on the woman and husband who were in the door of the unit, aiming at the woman who say friend of the woman who was stabbed. >> grabbed the door. bobby was standing right there and he shoots. and he shoots. >> reporter: the woman, the 48- year-old was shot and bleeding. turner went back to his unit and told his friend what happened. >> he held a knife, a bloody knife up and he said you get me to give this to the police. it is the murder weapon. >> reporter: but the woman who was stabbed was rushed to a hospital is now listed in fair condition. the gunshot victim was pronounced dead at the hospital. >> it came so quick. then, the police officers would not let them through so they could come and get her. she bled to death and died. >> it is incredibly important for us to render the scene secure before medical personnel or fire personnel or anybody else for that matter come into a scene and risk being injured. >> reporter: the police say the 61-year-old turner surrendered without incident. the knife and gun have been recovered. he could be charged with murder and attempted murder tomorrow afternoon. in san skwroes a robert honda, ktvu channel 2 news. >> the police have released surveillance photographs that they hope will identify two suspects in a deadly shooting at the great mall of the bay area. the photos were taken last october when a man was shot and killed in the parking garage at the great mall. the police say the suspects drove away after the shooting in a full sized black suv with tinted windows. it might also have been damaged by gunfire. the victim was 34-year-old michael davis from richmond. anyone with information about the case is asked to call the police. sheriff officials today recovered a third body from that boating accident yesterday off of the mar incounty coast. -- marin county coast. four people died yesterday when the 24 foot pleasure boat capsized off shore. the authorities released the identities of two of the victims today. melvin cox junior was from arkansas, henry madrona from the town of riverbank, both men were in their 60s. their bodies are recovered
