Investigators say the man was discovered with a gunshot wound and he was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say right now theyre interviewing witnesses but at this time there are no suspects in custody. The unidentified man is oaklands 75th homicide victim this year. San Francisco Mayor ed lee is ordering a thorough investigation into the security procedures at sf general hospital. This after the body of 57year old lin spalding was found in a rarely used hospital stairwell 17 days after she disappeared from her hospital room. We need to find out why that happened and the main reason so we know how to ever prevent Something Like this happening again. Spalding checked into the hospital and disappeared two days later. She apparently went through an alarmed emergency exit and into a stairwell in the same building. Her body was found one floor below her room. Foul play is not suspected. Sources say a decision on criminal charges should come next week. A child was rushed into surgery at oaklands Childrens Hospital this evening with life threatening injuries. Details are few but we can tell you that police say a father brought the 3yearold to the hospital and that the child was unresponsive. The father said that the child was unresponsive after being picked up from a day care center. Child protective services has been called to the hospital. The extent of the childs injuries are not being made public. Police are asking people on the campus of San Jose State University to be extra vigilant for the next 24 to 48 hours. This comes after a student reported seeing a man with a gun near sweeney hall this morning. That prompted police to lock up the building leaving thousands of people inside. After an extensive search no gunman was found. Police say students and teachers did a good job taking shelter. Some even had to be convinced that Police Officers were really the police before they opened the doors. The city manager of san carlos wants the city council to approve 260,000 so the city can conduct its own investigation into a pg e pipeline that might pose a safety risk. An internal email raised questions about the possibility of a san bruno type of situation online 147 beneath britton avenue. Pg e says that line was tested and repaired last year and is safe. But a judge ordered the line taken out of service. And the California Public Authorities Commission is now investigating. A jury in los angeles today cleared the Toyota Motor Company of liability in the first of more than 80 lawsuits involving claims of acceleration problems. This case involved a woman who was killed in 2006. Her toyota was hit at a stop sign then accelerated and crashed apparently despite her efforts to try to stop. In this case though, the jury cleared toyota instead jurors found that the driver of the vehicle that hit the victims car is the one who is liable and they awarded 10 million in damages.
