Well you know my Gallagher there were 2 different Crusades held in Tampa and back in the seventies and eighties that only did I have the distinct pleasure of serving locally with the volunteers on the crusade I actually served with the team itself and so I having some time with Dr Graham his wife of course also cliff Earls in the team and it was a dedication of a plaque because he he began his ministry there in Tampa and as I said I thought about this day and if that is the overclass guys here in Tallahassee going to be meeting some of these kids and in thinking about Dr Graham and everyone he touched and so yes it is that balance isn't it ironic Mike that we have some with national platforms who would be little people like the vice president not only having a relationship with his God but also in prayer and meditation talking about hearing from his God and is it ironic on a day and by the way some of the Jewish members that attended the prayer breakfast this morning they have been absolutely attacked on social media for coming to a prayer gathering but what what what a day to contrast Dr Graham God in prayer with some of the necessary in Tallahassee certainly is a lot of emotions that we all remember for a long long time no question about it and you know when when when Joy Bay har you know made her vicious attack against President President pens she wasn't just attacking Pence I mean she's attacking Christians she's attacking I think it was. That day and he said you know what if she does she to made that remark about Muslims that would have been her last day on the job if you mock Muslims if you mock. People of of the Islamic faith on a show like The View that way Ed be it could be done did they that you'd be called a religious bigot but somehow as you and I know all too well religious creed you know Christian anti Christian bigotry is alive and well in this country and that's why again it just sort of sad today at the loss of Billy Graham because his is a voice that we could use now let's let's talk about what's happening today in Tallahassee There's also been controversy about the role of these teenagers who are you know took buses and are rallying and protesting and I've seen people on social media in particular criticize these kids I for one don't want to criticize any of the anybody who's lived through a mass shooting who watched their kids die these kids have been through things that no kid no child no teenager no adult should have to go through but on the other hand there's no doubt that the media has been braised their message I suppose because as an anti gun pro-gun control message is one that a lot of people in the mainstream media agree with. Or like there's no doubt that there's a lot of narratives here in Tallahassee and we even have a staffer made some just absolutely made some very inappropriate observations on the Chris Errol house he now he got fired very quickly last night let me say this there's a lot of people here July 22nd year Mike here in Tallahassee and you know our parents told us you know the 1st thing you know I just thought about religion and politics Well a lot of folks know me because of my platform with Salem radio but I've been a Christian lobbyist if you will here for 22 years so I know all about persecution sniffling and all the things that go on because in here for a long time let me say this. Today I write a piece called Something to think about throughout the state here similar to our national town hall commentaries and yesterday before this really start unfolding I said hey these kids are coming to Tallahassee they've been traumatized and whether we agree with their opinions or not for this day these kids are traveling 450 miles on a grueling bus trip when they're here today let's listen to them we may disagree with some aspects of their comments or demands but let's listen to them and I said Let's listen to what compassion because I want to tell you Mike you've probably done the same I looked at some of the video clips on Instagram and other places that could never be the audio could never be broadcast on your or my show we never could show the video on national cable talk shows what I saw what these kids who went through what they went through in those 3 minutes in Parklane I got a 12 year old no child September and how to endure that So for whatever reason they're here I mean I'll agree with all of their platforms but I'll be the 1st one on the front lines to embrace them thank them for coming and show some compassion because these kids have been through hell and back I just show welcome your sentiments I'm so grateful and I frankly I think this is the way most of us feel and I regret and very much disagree with people who have been criticizing these kids and I don't I don't frankly understand it other than there's sort of a knee jerk instinctive need to try to defend the 2nd Amendment protect the Constitution and disagree with their ideological perspective you know and I've found some of the the way some of them have come out swinging against the president and and the government and Republicans in the n.r.a. I mean my goodness Bill is this whole this whole mindset well the n.r.a. Is a terrorist organization has blood on its hands and that's that's over the top and and. Yet we must temper that you know our reaction to this by recognizing what these children went through and what they experienced and you know what as far as I'm concerned they get to say what they want to say we should listen to them like you said we should we should lovingly engage them and try to win hearts and minds and deal with a very complicated issue it appears Bill politically the president Trump is going to dive into this now yesterday he announced an intent to ban bump stocks and to expand background checks and strengthen our national background checks the Washington Post says privately he'd like to do more so for those who are so disparaging of Donald Trump I wonder what they're going to do if he starts trying to deal with the with the with the issue of mash routines and and the issue of guns in America. Well I can answer that way real quick if you could too Mike Gallagher nothing does give President Trump no credit whatsoever but I thought I would say this I would say this is what.
