Let's. Move to suit her. Food. Food. Food. And it's yet another Wednesday night in Oakland this is k.g. P.c. So you must be tuned into pop offensive excuse me yes who are you. Can you call security they seem to be a strange guy you know Todd it's me Jeff I'm back yeah oh Jim Yeah the prodigal son return I have I'm sorry I've been out on sabbatical Yeah you're on a sabbatical I was it was the it was the spring semester sabbatical Oh I see yeah as is tradition I understand right but I'm back here with you but good to have you Yeah well thank you it's good good to be back I've been listening to done a fine job on the thanks of my enjoy the shows the music those playlists you know are awesome. And I don't mention the play I know that's what I did and I'm spoiling the magic of the experience and I can't tell you how honored I am to be back in the saddle pushing up those faders. Good guy he literally is in the saddle It's weird yes this on having actual saddle but I did go to a dude ranch on my vacation Oh Ok. Might explain all right what is pop offensive Jeff Hanneman and the mystery man Todd's that name and we bring you pop songs from all around the world all genres yours and and that's just the genders genders John Rose Yeah you name it we've got it if it's pop What are we just here we started out with orange juice with poor old soul which was one of their very early singles on the postcard label that was of a compilation but I'm pretty sure I have the that single somewhere in a drawer Ok. And that's from 1901 and then we launched into a set of French new. Gets that I on earth while I was and how to read the last week I don't know I mean this is fresh from Paris is fresh from. Fellow Man flown in the us. And we started with a couple songs off you know when I go when I'm record shopping especially And you know it foreign land I always go straight to the compilations and just look for the real cheapo compilations like if in America you know there's the the like 50 Greatest it through the sixty's those kind of cheap. Public domain compilations because I'm just going for like the most I want to find something like 100 songs and I'll know that out of those all find some gems so this is from a I think it's a Ford this compilation called Ideas 80 and that and the song 1st song we heard was called China. And it's by a man called it's a French band duo called because 00 ha and then we moved in do some really loony tune stuff some Saif I think the Italian disco which is actually sub John or believe it or not really yes and that was a song called under the ice and it's by topo and Robi Ok topo is a robot and Robie is a singer whose name is a mono Simone in the me. And there is a video of this song of them performing this song I'll be damned if I don't put that on our voyage which is why because she's basically in this sort of leather outer space outfit dancing around seeing as. This little robot sort of tooling around the stage and then he has a couple you are not are they ice. Mazing Well you know I I'm I'm just. I can't wait yes. All right you well based book fans out there make sure you check us out yes Facebook dot com backslash pop offensive it's easy to find and then we wrap that set up with Telstar by Colette the reaal that's off a compilation called Platina 100 tubes were I a TAFE Francais very well done thank you I've spent a week going you know Vama c. . And you know when you when you hear a French vocal version of Telstar you know you're listening to pop offends you know exactly where that anywhere else so that's that and then for it for the next. I was in I was in Paris for several days in London for several days had a few adventures there there were certain songs I mean I saw I've been an Anglo file since I was a kid. There are certain songs that I associate with London it was hard for me not to walk around London and just have these certain songs playing constantly in my head so I put 3 of them together Ok this is going to be nice so get a part of of better and exact and here we go. alright that's why I'm right out up Ok Hey Yeah well that's kind of things we play for you here yeah if you like really long fade out as we've got because that was good so as I mentioned before that set was sort of the soundtrack to my recent visit to London yes it has done Ok. And we started out with. Morrissey from the Bona drag album and then into Waterloo Sunset perhaps the greatest pop song of all time I just love that song and thank you for that moody at that was yeah that's a beautiful song yes you're with. And that's their album something else by the Kinks and also I heard the Kinks all over La and they are truly London's bands you know and probably one of the nicest times as I was at the end of a long day of trade thing around I was resting my weary bones in a pub drinking an ice pint and. Victoria by the Kinks came on the sound system it was awesome yeah that's that's how I was going to name and yes and then we wrapped with as you mentioned National Express by The Divine Comedy did a lot of riding the rails rode the train to Siri. And a lot of it right in the 2 ball over the tuba probably should have played you know down the tube station and they've been thank you see the gist of it yeah well you know I'm going to say about the kinks there I think that that line about people swarming like flies over Waterloo underground it's got to be the most beautiful the song line about something that seems so distasteful people swarming lives here but yeah I don't know they seem real pulled off yeah yeah well that's city living you know it's like you find a way to me lyrical and see. The group scary it's urban living where you know Ok Folks this is your pop song. Torino of the day and my co-host here Todd Stammen is a master of pop songwriting so if he says hey you better jot this now. I'm serious Aster class Yes and it's master something I don't know if it's and you're well we'll leave it at that hotel for 8 pm so. All right well moving Shall we move I think we better Ok moving on from Waterloo Sunset Ray Davies has a new solo album out called Americana and it is actually out a book called that too and it is great and we're going to hear a track from that right now. I'm saying to people in this to have to be locked up although I have to leave and yes you have to be locked up. Here with me I'd like dogs Let's. Check in with. Well we had always on Pop offense of ice one time yeah keeping with the British Invasion groove that's a song I can't let go that's written by the great Chip Taylor who also wrote wild thing and Angel of the morning and a bunch of other really you know sixty's classics and that was covered by a bunch of people to Evie sands and Linda Ronstadt did a version I had a really really good song and before that. We heard the heavy off there are great vengeance and furious fires set me free and then we start out with a good old Ray Davies with a song called The deal I guess is old but man his voice and agree sounds great his lyrics are as sharp as ever you still got that you know that satirical buy. In that's all of his album Americanos I think we are 2 So it's it's hot off the press says that it's some hot Viola now well it's something like vinyl something something like illusory I'm dead everything on balance of things all right so moving is well I just want to say one thing before we move on this is a very special part of the show and I want to make sure people knowing it and of faith all the way is that they can also reach us because they may want to look back at some of the other things we've done in this coming up segment and you can find us on Facebook and just Facebook slash pop offensive and you know top as I recall used to be on Twitter yes what happened to that what happened to that I still have a Twitter account and it's pop off radio it's not yet at Pop afraid at pop off radio so so you know you can check that out people used to tweet us back in the day if you tweet us we'll look at it we can probably saving beyond began promise and then we want to give a shout out to k. G.p.c. Here the Peralta colleges radio station indeed they have an awesome Web site and it is last time I check a g.p.c. 969 dot org Lots of great shows on there and you can hear our archives and everybody's archives Yeah and listen back because manners and good stuff there is indeed all right now binge listen what you people have been waiting for yes at least me. Spotlight on your vision All right people. Ok All right you know what that that I know that. Every is lately every time we do spotlight on your vision I say something like Well we're going to do something a little different on spot light on your vision this week you know and the rehabilitation of this feature which may be like the Hindu and Berg of Korea features on a radio show continues so for tonight for tonight's song is Denmark's and treatment in the 2014 contest which placed 9th it's a song and we bring you winners here we go all the back well a 9th place I mean we everybody I finding that I'm having to reach for weather on his way to find quality songs and I think this is one I mean it's a really fun really effervescent pop tune with a good beat to it it's really fun it's called cliche a love song it's by an artist named seem. And I found it on You Tube So the 1st time I heard it was on You Tube I liked it so I went and I downloaded it on i Tunes but it turned out. That the version I downloaded was somewhat different and your vision version and this being a family radio and this being a family radio station and why there are tots listening out there it contains if the couple f. Bombs and which when you hear it is ridiculous as it is the least type of saw you'd expect someone to let fly with an effort so we got to play the cleaned up so where so what we're going to do is we're actually a source this song from the youtube clips and for the 1st time in spotlight on your vision history we are going to be playing the actual Your vision performance of our subject song and that starts right now. Will salute to the. Move. To salute the moves of the kids. 6. 6. 6. Let's. Go. on the web probably pretty much all the time so make sure you check us out on the web at k.g. Police probably will Yeah yeah so let me tell you that you're listening to k.g. P.c. 96.9 f.m. In Oakland good thinker legal now taught Ok all right when we hear a want to say I added my favorite the only voice of the parole to college system Oh not no snow proud voice of protocol it says that's what I brought to the table but that you know that is really nice I think we ought to get some mascots in here the college mascots to come what is the mascot Well each college has their own right was so America is the Thunderbirds Ok Laney College is the Eagles and only you.
