Good morning, ginger. Good morning to you, george. Here it is, solid snow falling here in the poconos but i wanted to show you what weve accumulated already. At least 3 inches in some spots and this is kind of a light fluffy snow for our midmarch storm. I wanted to bring you to the radar. It is not just here that it is snowing, it is active from ohio all the way through connecticut and massachusetts. There are severe storms that have been moving through the south but that energy that is bringing the snow for your morning commute is right now in parts of eastern pennsylvania, new york city through southern connecticut and you can see Winter Weather advisories in place. Well, those go through today. The winter storm warnings for eastern long island and the cape because theyre going to get more snow which ill show you in a moment. Lets time it out. The bulk moving through your Morning Hours and you can see around 10 30 there, thats where the heaviest snow is falling, then it wraps up and gives eastern long island and cape cod just a little extra punch. Theyll see anywhere from 3 to 5 or 6 plus inches and done with this by the time we reach our 7 00 hour. By tonight it is done and then some serious cold air will filter in. All right. We have so much more coming up. For now well head on back to george. Messy morning ahead for so many. Now to rob marciano on the new jersey turnpike for that commuting story. Good morning, george. Its been snowing since before sunrise and accumulating on the sides of the roads and the main roads and highways pretty wet. Meanwhile in ohio a powerful gust taking madison here for a ride. Lucky she wasnt her. Residents in michigan battling high winds. Watch what happens when this woman tries to secure her hot tub cover. Across the midwest golf ball size hail like this. Oh. Reporter destroying the windshields of these storm chasers. Listen closely. And you can hear the ringing of the ice hitting this deck. One storm chaser in missouri spotting hail from this massive supercell thunderstorm. Were looking for snow fall rates to increase one to two inches per hour, snow piling up on the roadways. Totals less than a foot. Most businesses and schools are open for business today. Most people are out on the roads and it is getting slick. So take it easy. Robin. Thank you. We go to gio benitez who is in peekskill, new york, for how is affecting travel. Good morning. Reporter hey, robin, good morning to you as this snow gets stronger we will no doubt see all across the northeast. New jersey said its sharing its service with buses because about a million commuters use that train system every single week. Lets talk about whats happening in the air right now. Were looking at around 500 delays right now and more than 300 Flight Cancellations robin. All right. Okay, gio, thanks. To ginger. She is, of course, in pennsylvania for more on the snow and how its affecting schools. Right, ginger . Right, so almost 100 schools in the new York Metro Area already closed or delayed and i anticipate that will keep moving on up as we learn numbers through new england. I want to zoom in on the heaviest snow totals just to let you know. Sometimes we show you this broad map but you dont get to see your hometown. Anywhere in rhode island southern and coastal youre in that 6 plus inches. Not only cold this weekend, another storm coming for next week which i will tell you about in just moments. Oh, by the way. All right, ginger, stay warm. Thank you. We turn to new developments into the investigation of russias interference with our election and President Trumps explosive and evidencefree claim that president obama ordered wiretaps on trump tower. Fbi director james comey on capitol hill for a secret meeting with top lawmakers yesterday and our senior justice correspondent Pierre Thomas is here with the latest. Good morning. Reporter good morning. With so many enormously sensitive issues of the most classified nature swirling here in washington, the fbi director was called to capitol hill to separate fact from fiction. Fbi director james comey summoned to capitol hill for a series of top secret briefings with congressional leaders. The socalled gang of eight. Suspected topics, issues with Extraordinary National security implications. Russian interference in the 2016 election and comeys assessment of trumps explosive allegation that obama ordered wiretaps against trump tower. The evidence that president obama ordered a wiretap at trump tower . Reporter fbi director james comey refusing comment but senator mark warner telling abc news hes seen no evidence of wiretapping. Thus far, the white house has offered no evidence to support trumps accusations and when pressured by abc affiliate wews, Vice President pence would not directly answer the question. The president and our administration are very confident that the congressional committees in the house and senate that are examining issues surrounding the last election, the runup to the last election will do that in a thorough way. Reporter another topic hes expected to face, the massive breach handed over by wikileaks laying out the cias ability to eavesdrop on smartphones and computers. The cia became aware within the last couple of months that it had lost that material. Reporter an aggressive investigation is under way to find out who did it. Potential suspects according to sources, private contractors and others who work on the inside. This morning assange is offering Tech Companies a fix for some of the gaps in security. Intelligence officials appear to be using them to tap smartphones and computers. Now to the raging battle over health care. The gops plan to repeal and replace the Affordable Care act winning key votes in the house but facing opposition by democrats and republicans and our Congressional Correspondent mary bruce has new details for us. Good morning. Reporter good morning. With their Health Care Plan under attack Republican Leaders and the white house are in full on sell mode. The president is expected to hit the road next week while here on capitol hill the speaker is pitching with power points. Armed with charts and tough talk. This is the closest weve been to repealing and replacing obamacare and let me just say it again, this is the closest we will ever get to repealing and replacing obamacare. Reporter facing opposition from his own party the speaker of the house rolling up his sleeves to make the case for his health care overhaul. The debate has already begun. One House Committee deliberating amendments for a whopping 27 hours. On that vote there were 31 ayes and 23 nays. Reporter two key numbers still missing. The bills price tag and number of americans that could lose coverage under the new plan. Already the medical community is voicing its opposition. Some warning the plan could make things worse. Conservative senator tom cotton tells abcs jon karl he agrees. Im afraid it could make it worse in some ways, insurance rates would continue to go up and that americans would have even less control and less choice over their health care system. Reporter but Republican Leaders in the white house remain optimistic setting an ambitious time line. Im very confident well repeal and replace obamacare and it will all be done by this spring. Reporter President Trump declaring what you hear in the press, despite that, health care is coming along great. The white house with this message. If members have ideas, we want to hear them and want them to be part of it. This isnt getting jammed through. Reporter and the meetings and selling continues today at the white house. The president will sit down with key House Committee chairmen. Trump has been busy behind the scenes. The businessman president seems to be putting those dealmaking skills to work. Jonathan karl has more. The rorschach test on how it is doing and listen to the critics, it looks like its in deep trouble but meanwhile, passing through committees. Reporter its an uphill battle. Loud voices criticizing it in the house. Its hard to see right now where the 50 votes are in the senate. The outside conservative groups are against it but, george, i would not underestimate the ability of donald trump to get republicans in line on this bill. He is methodically meeting with the bills critics and it passed two big committees in the house yesterday and, george, not a single republican on either committee voted against it. The key stumbling block could come monday when they assess what this is going to mean for people with coverage now, what its going to mean for costs overall . Reporter yeah, those are the two big things. Both could be problematic. The cost and how many lose coverage. In a sign that the white house is not optimistic about the way the cbo will look at this they are already criticizing the Budget Office pointing out that they got the numbers wrong when they did estimates on obamacare. On another front the epa administrator pruitt drawing fire for taking on the Scientific Consensus about Climate Change. Lets watch. I think that measuring with precision human activity on the climate is something very challenging to do and theres tremendous disagreement about the degree of impact. So, no, i would not agree that its a primary contributor to the Global Warming we see. Thats at odds with the official position of the epa. What impact will it have on the work of that agency . Reporter well, its at odds with the official position but also the vast majority of the people who work at the epa, it puts him basically as an outlier in the agency he heads. Okay, jon karl, thanks very much. George, new job numbers coming out covering the president s first full month in the white house. Our chief Business Correspondent Rebecca Jarvis is here. You have much more on all this. Good morning. Good morning. A new report says more photos have been shared on more sites spanning every Military Branch and dan harris has the details. Good morning, thats right. What started as a revelation about marines sharing illicit photos without consent has according to a new report metastasized across the armed forces. This morning shocking new allegations of military Service Members sharing illicit photos of their female colleagues and not just in the marine corps. A Business Insider report alleges hundreds of nude photos from every Military Branch were posted to a pornographic image sharing website called anonib. On a message board dedicated to military personnel. The photos allegedly dating back to 2016. Users asking for nude photos of specific female Service Members identifying some by name or where they were stationed. The pentagon is already investigating allegations of marines sharing nude photos of female Service Members through a private Facebook Group called marines united. Kally wayne a former marine recently speaking out accusing her marine exboyfriend of sharing a private tape they made that was linked to the Facebook Group. I felt like my privacy had been taken away from me. Reporter wayne was removed from the marines in 2016 for unrelated misconduct. Overnight a spokesperson for the marines saying we are not able to confirm that marines are participating in the site anonib but that allegations of misconduct are thoroughly investigated. On wednesday, the Sergeant Major of the marine corps ronald green faced questions from congress about that Facebook Group. Frankly, the initial statement about it didnt provide the level of outrage that i think most women would have felt was necessary. I understand how everybody wants us to come out and be outraged and we are outraged. Reporter the office of congresswoman Jackie Speier alleges this kind of behavior goes well beyond the marine corps but that more cases come from the marines than any other branch. And congresswoman speier is now pursuing legislation that would make it illegal to share these without consent online and overnight a go fund me page called female marines united raised nearly 5,000 and they plan to donate it to head strong which offers Free Mental Health treatment for post9 11 veterans. What kind of action do we expect to see from the various branches . The various branches have come forward, the marines, army, and denounced this and promise theyll investigate and all calling on alleged victims to come forward and talk about their experience. Chief investigative correspondent brian ross takes us inside programs that claim to perform gay conversions and here with a preview of his 20 20 special. For the last year weve been investigating places that many claim no longer exist. Christian ministries or camps where gay teens are sent by parents who want their children to change their sexuality. So watch this video. Take a slight left turn on to rural road. Reporter we found what we were looking for down a dirt back road in alabama. The blessed hope boys academy. Reporter a place where a christian pastor will tell our abc news Undercover Team that with the bible and sometimes a belt you know, this boy here claims to be homosexual. Reporter along with a 21,000 yearly fee, he knows how to deal with teenagers who consider themselves gay. Its going against the word of god. It is not biblically right. Reporter and he told our team that he gets written permission from parents to strike their child if they act up. I wouldnt do it just because for one just because he says hes queer. Im not going to do that. Reporter this is just one of a number of places discovered by abc news in a yearlong investigation practicing a notion denounced by leading medical groups gay teens can choose to change their sexuality. For every camp like this there are a hundred more that nobody knows about that nobodys exposing on tv. Reporter including one place outside mobile, alabama, unlicensed and surrounded by barbed wire, run by this man, William Knott who calls himself a christian pastor but has a track record of physical abuse and cruelty. Everybody was scared of him. Reporter lucas greenfield a gay teen from florida was sent to knots camp at the age of 14. Isolation and beating and everything else. Because . What did you do to those boys . I dont want to talk to you. Because i dont like you. Get away from me. This is how you treat the young boys. This is how i treat you. Get away from me. Reporter what that socalled pastor did not know when we met him was he was about to face his own day of reckoning in the wake of our abc news investigation, six of the teens who said that knott abused and tortured them agreed to testify and just two weeks ago after being found guilty he was sentenced to 20 years in prison, the sentence the judge says in alabama he hopes sends a message across the country. Wow. Names for his belts. Do parents know these things when they force their kids to go . Sometimes the cruelty only emerges after the parents leave but the parents sometimes have a hard time dealing with the sexuality and told with a bill of goods, the bible or belt they have a way to change their children. No one was more religious than my parents and im so grateful especially after seeing this how supportive they were of me as a gay woman and my family and friends and ill never forget my mother saying, god loves you because of who he is, not because of anything you do or dont do. And we are back with our big board here at the table with dan abrams and jay williams, espn analyst, former duke star. Thank you for coming on. Well get to you in just a minute. Lets begin with dan because this is some story right here. A video taken by an uber driver pulled over by Police Ordered to stop taking video as they search his passenger. Take a look at this. Hey, bud, turn that off. No, ill keep recording, thank you. Its my right. Dont record me. You got me . Youre a Police Officer on duty. I can record you. And if you come to the side of the vehicle i can keep recording you. Turn it off. I can keep recording you. Turn it off. Or ill take you to jail. Im sitting in my car. Theres a new law what is the law . Step out of the car. Explain to everyone here what the driver got right. The Police Officer got wrong. The law. The bottom line is you, of course, are allowed to shoot a Police Officer in a public space like that. With a camera. With a camera. Theres just no question about it. And the other challenge for authorities here, he who is an attorney is saying they didnt have probable cause later to search his car either. So hes got two complaints going. Number one is you told me the law that didnt exist and number two is you searched my car even though you didnt have probable cause. Oops. So theres now an investigation going on any time you get a video like this that goes viral like this youre going to have an investigation. Thats because of police chief saying taking photographs and video of people in plain sight including the police is your legal right. As a matter of fact, we invite citizens to do so when they believe it is necessary and as you said theyre launching this investigation. What do you think . They handled it well by coming out quickly and not saying well defend the officer. Theyre basically saying, look, the officer was wrong here. I think the officer is going to get a reprimand. I dont think you cannot in a highprofile case like this punish an officer who is telling people a law that doesnt exist and making it up. With that said, i dont think this is going to be treated as the gravest of offenses either but i expect there will be some sort of reprimand for the Police Officer because i dont see how you cant. Everybody stayed calm at least in this situation. You think when people are pulled over particularly the guy, he handled it as well while he was being very firm, the lawyer, he wasnt being a jerk to the Police Officers either. He wasnt being rude. He wasnt being disrespectful. He wasnt, you know he was basically just saying, look, this is my right. I can keep shooting and one point he says, look, im scared. He said im surrounded by five Police Officers now. Im going to keep rolling. And i think what was so important about what he did is not escalating it to the next level. That was huge. That was huge. All right. Dan, thank you very much. Ready for a little hoops. I know we have a lot of people. Theyre here for the big east tournament celebrating and stuff. We got North Carolina fans out there and just all types of fans. Very jovial type of year. Yes. March madness selection sunday two days away. It is College Basketballs most anticipated offcourt event of the year where the ncaa unveils all the teams who will compete for a shot at the national championship. You know what that is like. Just a tad. I won a championship a long time ago. How about northwestern. Theyve never had the opportunity and that buzzer beater, theyre calling it the play when they beat michigan. Will they be getting a ticket to the dance . Yes. They beat rutgers last night in the big ten tournament. I think they are firmly in the ncaa tournament. How about this, this is one of the only few teams in College Basketball that never made the ncaa tournament in 78 years. They hosted the first final four in 1958. 1958 the first final four but never made the tournament so Chris Collins my associate head coach at duke the head coach now for northwestern happy theyre in the tournament. Last year the bracket leak. Yes. How do you prevent that . Bracketgate. Always a gate now. Well, the ncaa has taken on different measures and now have these people at the marriott marquee, only time theyre allowed to leave their rooms is only with family and have to order room service. Theyre making sure they stay in the same pocket. But i dont know. I actually like what the bracket is leaked. You were going to say that. Sorry. See. Everybody is stealing my lines today. Look into your crystal ball, jay. What do you think . I have five teams that i think can actually win the ncaa tournament. I know there are a lot that will get into the tournament but starts off with North Carolina. Im a duke guy. That pains me to say that but the tar heels are trending in the right direction and have great guard play. You talk about they have a guy named joel berry who is a lead guard and Justin Jackson who is the acc player of the year and color is tar heel blue. A good color to wear and oregon, a team out west, theyre in there. Ucla, kansas and villanova and very important when you start getting at home with your brackets and looking at some games where you question i dont know which team to pick sometimes go with your favorite color. Sometimes go with your favorite mascot. My mother beat me in my bracket, its very sad to say i do this for a living but theres some luck involved. Im glad you said that and i didnt. Im glad you said that. Can we pin you down . Number one pick . Ill probably have to go with ucla. Ill go out west. Ill go ucla to win it all. We got blue too. I went to duke sitting across from this guy is awesome. You know. Come on. A guy who you tried out for the basketball team. You didnt tell me that. By the way he did . That is a true story but you need the context and we dont have time for to understand that i did go to tryouts but not as a serious player. We have all of march. Yes, but i did try out. All you need filling out bracket tune in to tournament challenge marathon monday at 7 00 p. M. Eastern. Thank you, guys. A story so many are sharing. Its russian roulette and youre playing with how youre going to be for the rest of your life. Reporter the American Association of orthodontists reporting an uptick, 13 of its members are seeing patients who have tried diy teeth straightening such an alarming number, theyre reissuing this psa. Trying to close a gap or straighten your teeth yourself can increase the risk of infection and serious damage to your teeth and gums. Reporter oddly enough David Campbell says at a young age his dentist suggested he apply rubber bands at night to try to close a gap in his front teeth but the bands kept disappearing. He thought they were falling off but really the rubber bands were actually going up into my gums and killing the teeth at the root. They found about four or five rubber bands up in the root of my gums and had just strangled my teeth. Reporter new york dentist nancy rosen says that was bad advice. And the damage can happen quickly. Sometimes in just a couple of days. And fixing it can be costly. In the end youll be paying at least double to correct all the mistakes that youve made. Reporter if they can be fixed at all. You can fix your plumbing and do it wrong and call a plumber. When you make a visit to an orthodontist to repair whats been done sometimes the damage is not repairable. Reporter campbell says he eventually lost his two front teeth and estimates he spent between 40,000 and 50,000 over the years. Now hes warning teens not to do what he did. It may look simple. But it can end up costing you thousands of dollars and a lot of heartache, pain and suffering. Campbell says his dentist at the time gave him that terrible advice so when it comes to straightening your teeth choose a reputable orthodontist. Remember these loom bands. Theyre using them on their teeth. The company says theyre not intended for use in the mouth. Its remarkable any of us survive adolescence. Its so true, isnt it. I did, yeah. I think that they were expecting me to just do my line read but i got up and did the full one with all of the cast which was really fun. I loved doing that dance. Kind of scared josh gad. I did . Oh, yeah . Was he freaked out. He was like, i dont want to do it. Would you guys like to hear emma sing . [ cheers and applause ] no bonjour. Bonjour there goes the baker with his tray like always the same old bread and rolls to sell every morning just the same since the morning that we came to this poor provincial town good morning, belle. [ applause ] can you this . Shes actually crying seeing you. Shes actually in tears. You have that impact especially with young girls. And you really in this role, i mean because many people are familiar but you put your own little new twist to it. Yeah, i have. Its been amazing but i think probably youre referring to yesterday, we did a Big International book drop around the world of hopefully what are inspiring reads for young women and girls and men and boys too, but yeah, it was amazing. But also your character is a little bit different from what we know from the animated belle. She is a little different. I think that we had a little bit more space and room to tell a bit more of belles story in this one and we yeah, shes i hope shes a slightly more modern version. Its been, gosh, the first original was released in 1992 and we are in 2017 so she was updated a little bit but i mean pretty progressive in her dna really, yeah. She was a bit of a rebellious disney princess, so we love that spirit about you, can we say that. We love that spirit about you. [ applause ] so important to you. Tell those who arent familiar. Well, i became a u. N. Women ambassador two years ago. We launched a campaign called he or she which is about bringing men and boys into the conversation about gender equality. I want to get back to the books you talked about because it was celebrated here in new york that you were hiding books. I was. All over the city. And, in fact, one of our producers actually saw your books on a run. Oh, yeah. Then realized it was you doing it. And youre the one hiding the books. I am, yes. Did you get spotted . [ applause ] were you in cognito. I usually try to be kind of incognito but yesterday for the womens march everyone was dressed in red so i was dressed in a bright red beret and a bright red sweatshirt so i was a little bit less under the radar than i usually am. But, yeah, i think sometimes its amazing like on the tube i feel like people are kind of in their own world and they dont notice so much but yesterday in public spaces i did get some funny looks from some people that were like are you see you later off to another location. Book superhero. Running around town like a crazy thing is it as we just said youre a woman of many talents, book ninja. Book ninja. My term. Thats number one. Singer. Yes. Unbelievable. Yes. And you did a lot of dancing in the movie. What was harder for you, the singing or dancing . I think the singing because i mean its something that ive always done and loved to do but to do it in such a beloved musical and when, you know, the songs are so well known and, you know, i really i think i felt the weight of that and theres something vulnerable about singing. I dont know how to explain it. You feel completely we dont do it. Totally different thing from acting in a way. Theres nothing to hide behind. Its your voice and, yeah, i felt very sort of naked doing it for the first time so i think that was the hardest. Thats why most of us hide in the shower. People have been going crazy over these reports of late that you and your former harry potter costars are keeping in touch via text message group. Yeah. Can you give us a sense of what youre saying to each other. I love how this has become a huge thing. Of course, we text one another. But, yeah, no, i mean i guess so proud of this movie and i wanted them to feel included and so, of course, i invited them to come. The thing is that my classmates spread all over the world now living in different places so its a bit like like a pokemon game. Im trying to run around the world and catch them all but, yeah, i mean, yeah, i mean, tom and matt came to the screening in l. A. And bonnie came to the one in london and so very nice. Do you have little ones dressed up like that when you go to the screenings . I do. Its the best thing ever. I love it. So cute. Thank you for coming here. We all cannot wait and all of you can see beauty and the beast, it hits theaters march 17th. Guess what, all of you, everyone in our audience gets two tickets to see it.
