There wasnt a moment where this veteran Staff Sergeant rappelled down a helicopter to deliver the Invictus Games flag to his partner, kai, the dog racing to meet him and then the two delivering the flag together. Reporter drivers stopped in their tracks trying to flee as this tornado moves across the road. At least seven reported tornados touching down over the weekend. We have windows broken out its not pretty. Reporter this mammoth twister captured near the town of ray, kicking up debris injuring five people. You can see from the air numerous structures destroyed. Overnight people in oklahoma on edge. This tornado continues on the ground right now. Reporter multiple reports of tornados there as well. Rains leading to flash floods. Stranding motorists. In kentucky, blinding rains blasting cars and in illinois, 66mileperhour winds snapping power lines and tearing the roof of this school. Im asking people to come join this campaign and i have had a lot of outreach from republicans in the last days who say that they are interested in talking about that. Now, Bernie Sanders is still promising to stay in this race until the end. Hes offered a new hint that he might be open to talks with clinton about the Vice President slot. Of course as far as we know that offer has not come yet. Still several primaries to go. Lets talk to matt dowd about all of this. Lets begin with donald trump and the split within the Republican Party. The feud with paul ryan. He surprised me when he said bringing the Party Together may not matter that much. Does the party have to be together . Does it have to be unified . Im very different than everybody else. I actually dont think so. His point is, he can bring in a lot of democrats and independents, is he right . Hes right about one thing hes very different than anyone whos run before. Hes right about that. He doesnt have to have the elites behind him but he needs to have 100 of the Republican Voters. If the split starts to emerging among Republican Voters its hugely problematic for him. Back in 2012 romney got more than 90 of the Republican Voters and still lost. So trump would have to match that. Meanwhile, looking at the general election and this feud with Hillary Clinton over he believes that bringing up bill clintons troubles back in the 1990s is an effective counter to the womans card. This is an issue that many republicans have been wanting to litigate in the past 20 years. What hes trying to do is not attack bill clinton but hes basically saying Hillary Clinton who claims to speak on behalf womens voters is problematic in this area. I think is going to be back and forth. I think its going to generate some support for donald trump among the base of this. I dont think its going to have any effect on the independent voters. We turn now to that deadly shooting spree in maryland. A federal Police Officer in custody accused of going on a rampage that left his wife and two others dead. He is now formally charged with three koubts of murder and set to appear in court today. Abcs Pierre Thomas with the very latest. Reporter the final takedown as Police Officers arrest one of their own. A federal Police Officer accused of killing his es traininged wife and two strangers in acts of random violence. Watch as police ram his car, jump out, draw their weapons. It all began thursday afternoon, Eulalio Tordil arrives at a high school and shoots a man and kills his wife in cold blood. Shooting her repeatedly just as her daughter was to leave. Tordil, a Police Officer with the federal protective service had be been on administrative leave demanding that he stay away from his wife who he had been accused of beating. We just had a shooting at montgomery mall. Three down. Reporter on friday shots ring out as tordil allegedly tries to carjack a woman. Two men rush to her aid. Both shot. One man died and one remains in serious condition. The female victim is also recovering. These two men acted selflessly and heroically, not only coming to her aid but likely saving her life. Reporter ten miles away, a short while later, tordil is accused of fatally shooting a woman. In what Police Believe was a botched carjacking attempt. Authorities say over the weekend tordil did talk, apparently showing no remorse. No win one expects him to be released after todays hearing. George. Pierre, thanks very much. Latest now on the backlash brewing at west point over this photo, it shows 16 female cadets with fists raised. The school is investigating whether they were making a political statement in violation of academy rules. Reporter for decades the clenched fist has had powerful meaning, defiant or resistance. The women intended to celebrate the graduation, the gesture leading west point to see if rules were broken. This morning, this photo is at the center of a growing controversy at west point. The elite military academy now investigating whether these 16 africanamerican cadets, raising their fists violated policy against political activity while in uniform. Theres a tradition at west point for seniors where they pose and they have a very stoic look on their faces. Intended to be a throwback to the old days. What makes this photo different is everyone is kind of doing the pose but then theres the clenched fists in the air. Reporter to critics of the photo the cadets looks like an expression of support for the black lives matter movement. A movement some believe is antipolice. If these men and women are in uniform and making a political statement they could be in serious trouble for that. Reporter coming to the cadet defense, the chairwoman of the academy visitors. And former army captain tweeting a different photo of the same women posing without fists raised, writing, fearless, flawless, fierce, ready. Fulton telling the army times i knew it was their expression of pride and unity. Unfortunately, in their youth and exuberance it appears they didnt stop to think that it might have any political context. The fire storm coming only a few months after beyonces formation halftime show. The fists raised there. Also causing controversy. This morning, west point telling abc news that Academy Officials are conducting an inquiry into the matter. The style of photo is a tradition at west point, groups mimicking poses from the 19th century. The photo reportedly just one of dozens they took without raised fists. Some very frightening moments aboard a passenger jet forced to make an Emergency Landing in nashville. The delta flight was going from atlanta to chicago. It hit turbulence. 30,000 feet up. And look at that with more than 100 people onboard, one of the engine covers flew off and apparently hit another part of the plane, puncturing the fuselage. Thankfully the plane landed safely. A boston globe investigation found a hundreds of students at a dozen schools have said they were allegedly abused. Abcs linsey davis is here with the story. Reporter the boston globe said this all started in december with an article they published about a young woman who said she was pressured into signing a gag order about her alleged rape by an athletic trainer. After that the floodgates have opened up. Nearly 50 alumni have come forward to say they were also sexually abused. Tell this story. Were going to tell it. Reporter by taking on the story of reporters at the boston globe that uncovered widespread sexual abuse in the catholic church. They knew and they let it happen, two kids okay, we got to show people that nobody could get away. Reporter this morning the famed paper is putting another explosive scandal in the spotlight, this time about alleged sexual abuse at some new englands elite private schools. Among the schools included in the article Phillips Exeter and st. Georges in rhode island. And it doesnt stop there. The globe reports that 67 schools have faced allegations against School Employees since 1991. More than 200 alleged student victims. 37 School Employees were fired and forced to resign and about two dozen were convicted or pled guilty to criminal charges. Sexual abuse against children. Reporter in taped interview with the paper one of the alleged victims wonder what his life would have been like if this hadnt happened. I dont know who i might have been had he not gained my loyalty and confidence and then abused it so and that really screwed up my life and im sure the lives of many, many, many kids. I was really shocked at how pervasive this issue is. There are a lot of failed marriages, issues with trust. A lot of alcoholism. Reporter abc reached out to st. Georges who said the schools recognizes the long Lasting Impact of the sexual abuse. Is dedicated to working with survivors to aid them in healing from its painful aftermath and the survivors who stepped forward. We are all shocked and angered. This is just the tip of the iceberg. From archery to wheelchair basketball, what is it about sports that seems to be the great unifier . For a lot of these guys, once they were forced to leave the military they didnt have any recognition as being part of a team again, so, actually wearing a uniform of sorts, to wear your National Flag is such a massive thing for these guys. Once they took that uniform off, theyre still looking for ways to serve and we cant waste that talent. Theyre ready and they are some of the best competitors the best employees. Behind every military member there is a Family Member that has given something up and has made it possible for them to be who they are. As you know, my father was in the military. Yeah. In the air force and i remember when i would answer the phone and i would say colonel roberts quarters, robin speaking. You feel like you were part of the military. You were a part. You served your country for ten years and i know that this makes this even more special for you because these are your comrades, people you truly understand. I signed up because i wanted to be one of the lads, one of the guys. But then, this sort of normality for me to be amongst these guys was so important, certainly has given me a purpose in life. It was special to see you across the pond when i spent time with you earlier this year and you two have bonded over this, the Invictus Games, and you have both been outspoken about Mental Health and the invisible injury. Absolutely. What we all know is that Mental Health can affect us all its not just men and women in uniform. Its not just our veterans. The point i want to make is the vast majority of them do not have any Mental Health issues but for those who do its so important for us to destigmatize so people feel the support to go out and get the support they need. And you and your brother and sister in law have also started a campaign. Heads together. Well, thats the reality of one beauty editor whos opening up about being diagnosed despite doing egg everything right. Abcs Mara Schiavocampo has her story. Reporter shes an expert beauty editor known for telling her millions of readers about the importance of sunscreen. Its my job to know about these things. Reporter so, when a red patch appeared on annie tomlins hairline and wouldnt go away, she knew something wasnt right. Could it be the queen of sun screen fell victim to the suns damaging rays . As it grew and grew it thought this isnt normal. Reporter two different dermatologists said it was nothing. But when she ran into this doctor at an event her suspicions were concerned. Instantly i said no, no, no. We have to test that. Reporter abiopsy revealing that she had the most common kind of skin cancer. I was shocked. Im very lucky my mom always put sunscreen on me as a kid. Reporter its highly curable but Early Detection is key. Why is it important to treat it quickly . These things become disfiguring and then they can spread throughout their body. Reporter doctors say be vigilant about checking your entire body regularly. Something annie is reminded of every time she looks in the mirror. The scar is a reminder as i go forward in life that this happened and i just want to be as safe as i can when i go out in the sun. Jen, i think a lot of people are under the false impression that, if you do everything right and you wear that sunscreen youre not at risk, thats simply not true. Its definitely not true with skin cancer. We have to remember that behavior and prevention is key. Its important when you talk about skin cancer. However, there are other pieces to this puzzle, theres a genetic component. And probably another missing piece that we dont know yet. Its a combination of factors. That doesnt mean that behavior is still isnt important. Talk about genetics and the role it plays in skin cancer. Well, we been hearing about the role of genetics in all types of cancer. Skin cancer is no different. The majority of skin cancer is sporadic. A small percentage, there are genetic mutations. We have heard of the bcra mutation. Bcra 2 actually increases the risk of melanoma. Then there are other genetic mutations also that are associated wi associated with m associated with mag nant m melanoma. And of course, its so important to not only check your own skin but to have a doctor do those body checks and as you heard our patient in our piece said, get second or third opinion. A biopsy should be the default pathway. People need to understand, and this is trend getnaked. You have to take all of your clothes off to have a proper skin check. It needs to go head to toe. Fingers, toes, your scalp and darkskinned individuals very much at risk, most people think they dont. This hits homes for me, amy. My god mother died from this. Last week i had full skin checks. Even the doctors themselves have to be the patient. Places more susceptible than any others on your body . The sun composed areas. Everything needs to be checked and you need to get naked. Yes, july 2010 in afghanistan, i was on patrol with my marines and we took gun fire to my right side. I suffered a broken humerus and broken femur in the right leg and a couple of rounds just shredded through my arm and my leg. Tell us about how these Invictus Games, i know you participated in the first one how do they help you and fellow competitors . They help us, oh man, in so many ways, robin, i guess to sum it up the best way, it puts us back together and give us that sense of strength again. It really does. And every year its gotten better and better. I didnt think that it could top 2014. But, so far, its been amazing. And its all for the athletes, too, so, really when were with one another its incredible. The camaraderie. Its like being in the military, you want to be together. For angela, as a Family Member, i can see your eyes are already glistening. The pride you must have and the feeling that you have as Family Members to see your loved ones competing.
