It is the very graphic descriptions of the socalled enhanced interrogations that will stand out in this report. And one section in particular that a person familiar with it says goes beyond even waterboarding. That interrogation method that simulates drowning. This section, they say, will describe methods that are sexually demeaning. But at the heart of the release today is the conclusion from Majority Democrats on the Senate Intelligence committee that the interrogations did not make the country safer. And that the cia misled the Bush Administration about the program, george. As, you know, martha, a number of former cia directors set to rebut the report. And we have seen former Vice President dick cheney come out. Reporter as to the allegations that the program was some sort of rogue operation, Vice President cheney told the New York Times i think thats all a bunch of hooey. The program was authorized. And to charges that president bush was misled by the cia, he says that is a crock. But u. S. Officials remain very concerned about the reaction to this report around the world. Yeah, this is a highly charged issue. All right, martha, thank you very much. Were going to turn to president obama. Hes not expected to speak about the report today. Investigators trying to figure what caused the private jet to go down, killing three people on board, three in a home. One possibility is a bird strike. Abcs jim avila has the story. Reporter this morning, investigators analyzing the private jets black box, trying to determine what caused it to crash into this quiet maryland neighborhood, killing six. We got a phenom crash at the end of the runway. Call emergency services. Reporter take a look. Emergency crews racing to the scene before a second explosion. The flame is just getting higher and higher. Its just not getting out. Reporter Authorities Say the private jet gashed a hole in the roof of one house before crashing into the side of another. Then, on impact, a wing containing fuel broke off, slicing into a third home and catching fire. Trapped inside, 36yearold marie gemmel and her two young sons, one 3, and one just an infant. All found on the second floor huddled together. This is a tragic loss for the Montgomery County community. Reporter three people on the plane also died instantly. Among them, dr. Flames burning so hot this morning, we have seen firefighters still putting out hot spots, 24 hours later. From fighting this inferno, to now sifting through the rubble, this morning fire investigators are trying to determine whether this wall of fire engulfing an entire block of Downtown Los Angeles heavy fire. More than 1,000 people shutting down a busy interstate, even stopping a train. More than 150 people were arrested. And on the east coast, crowds staging a socalled diein. Abcs reena ninan shows us the protests from coast to coast. Reporter overnight, hundreds of people marching on to interstate 80 in berkeley, california. Stopping drivers, backing up traffic for miles. As police in the city with a long history of protests try to clear the crowd, demonstrators repeatedly pushed their way back on to the highway. One woman going into labor while stuck in the traffic jam. An ambulance manages to get through to rush her to the hospital. Another group of protesters laying down on railroad tracks, bringing an amtrak train to a halt. It was a night of disruptions, but nothing like the violence berkeley has seen on previous nights. Meanwhile, on the east coast, protesters growing outside the new york basketball arena where the British Royals were attending an nba game. I totally support it, but blocking an entrance isnt going to help. Police say a man armed with a knife stabbed an israeli student this morning. Officers fatally shot the suspect after this dramatic standoff. Police say the suspect refused to drop the knife and charged the officers. No word on a motive for the attack. The student is expected to survive his injuries. A brazen jewelry heist out in the west. Thieves made off with a half a Million Dollars worth of diamonds and gems in 90 seconds. It happened at a highway rest stop in minnesota. Jewelry dealers were returning from a chicago trade show when they took a break. The chp says up to 1500 people marched through the streets of berkeley and stopped traffic twice on interstate 80. The group even stopped an amtrak train. Reporter he set up this demonstration to show us what can happen when tempered glass breaks. He says the cracks move at speeds up to 3,000 miles per hour. Tempered glass is a specificallydesigned product that breaks into very small pieces to reduce lacerations and cuts. Reporter the industry representing glass manufacturers told us it takes extraordinary steps to minimize the potential for nickel sulfide inclusions. Considering a large glass furnace may produce up to 800 tons of glass per day, total elimination of contaminants is not possible. Now that group adds that the accidents are rare.
