Reporter good morning, linsey. For most of the search authorities insisted they were confident cavalcante was contained in the search area of a few square miles. Now they are confident he is still in pennsylvania. He has clearly picked up some items to help him survive and hide. This morning the search for escaped murderer Danielo Cavalcante has substantially expand after Officials Say this weekend he slipped past their perimeter and took off in a stolen vehicle. We have always looked at the potential that it could be a nationwide man hunt. Reporter authorities releasing these new images showing the inmate now clean shaven, wearing new clothing. They say he visited the homes of two people he previously worked with asking for help but neither were home and one of them turned over the doorbell video footage to police. Investigators also say cavalcante stole this van from a nearby dairy farm just outside the perimeter, which Officials Say was unlocked with the keys inside. From there, they say he drove 25 miles north before abandoning the van in a field when it ran out of gas. Now that region is the center of the search. Authorities had previously insisted they believed cavalcante, who escaped 11 days ago by crab walking outside the prison, was contained within their Police Search area. He still passed through undetected. No perimeter is 100 secure, ever. In the end, i am confidence we will capture him and bring him back into the criminal justice system. A rescue crew working around the clock to help save dickey after he suffered from internal bleeding while on an expedition, mapping the turkish cave. Our medical team is working really, really hard to try to keep marks condition as stable as possible. Reporter the cave itself, the third deepest in turkey, with a known depth of nearly 4,200 feet. The terrifying ordeal unfolding 3,000 feet below the surface where dickey fell ill. Unable to climb himself, dickey was placed on a stretcher. First responders have been scrambling to get through extremely tight places and steep passages. Rescuers carried him to a base camp at 2,297 feet. With a stretcher you got to push and pull. You need people in front and back. You need team work to cooperate, move it along. When should people get the shot. How much effectiveness do you see in this years flu shot . Time to get the flu shot is now. The goal is to get it between now and early october or even at the latest halloween. You want to get it before flu season starts. Now, the new information thats coming out of south america which experiences their winter months when we experience our summer months. We are seeing them at the ends of their cold and flu vaccine. Shows the flu vaccine is 52 effective in preventing hospitalization. Its helpful, protective, not just from the acute effects of the flu but also complications. If you are older than 6 months i advise get it. Especially those high risk. So anyone older than 6 months should get it . Especially those at high risk. And you can get it right now . You can get it right now. Dr. Sutton, the other thing thats a big headline that captured my attention are these over the counter decongestants. The fda has just put in a new review on this. Yeah, so with the specific chemical or main ingredient were talking about can be found in very common decongestants. Sudafed, benadryl. Even certain vicks products. It works by decreasing congestion. Researchers from the university of florida are finding that it simply doesnt work. Theyre showing that it is not effective. There are studies that show it doesnt get to levels high enough to reach that target area. There are studies that compare it to a placebo that dont show any discernible benefit. The Fda Advisory Committee is going to meet. There is a chance they might say that this is no longer effective and would revoke the over the counter designation which would have a significant effect on this industry. Its not just in our heads that these dont always do the trick . Its not just your head. Doctors alike. We also i rarely advise patients to take these medications as mesmerizing as the aisles can be. As the dad of a 14yearold only child, how can i support her to become more confidence and over come the fear of failure . That is a big one. Who wants to take that . You know, its so hard with confidence and failure. If you are able to connect with your kid about how theyre feeling and feel, the kid feels really understood, that can really help them listen to any other message you might have for them. So we have something we call a validation sandwich. Thats where you take that confidence that you feel in your kids but you put it between two pieces of validation where you let them know that you know how they are feeling about themselves. You might Say Something about, i know youre really feeling down on yourself about math these days. Hey, i know you and you dont give up easy. But, man, its been rough. Notice how i didnt say, but youre great at math. Dont worry. Because actually that can be less confidence building than really connecting. You dont want to give false confidence. Thats right. If they know you get how they feel but you think they can handle it, that really helps them feel. Thats where confidence arises. Whats the most important thing for parents to remember . This one is about celebrating the things that make you you and having confidence to stand loud and proud. Welcome, ladies, to the show. Hi. Thanks for having us. Cara, youre an Elementary School teacher. The first book was really about your loud, older sister. This one is really about you. Give us more of a sense of what inspired you to do this . We always viewed it as a coupling that we would have two books. One that focused on the big sister. One that focused more on me, the little sister. But both of them sort of center around this sibling relationship. Beautiful sibling relationship. And how they help strengthen their sense of self. Its very sweet. It reminds me of me and my sister. Were about the same age difference as well. You, cara, just started learning a new instrument. You posted a hilarious video of this. The ukelele. Why . Tell them why. Tell them why you started learning it. It hasnt been a pretty process. I thought for the first book we were in front of a lot of kids. [ laughter ] the idea of sitting next to a sister thats always i love that we have a ukelele underscore. [ laughter ] the idea that im sorry i speak for her. Thats the older sister in me. [ talking at the same time ] shes the larger than life sister. We have to sing a refrain that comes up in the book. She sings it in the first book. Im supposed to sing it in the second book. I thought i could use some support. In the mean time, we rehearse. Im always trying to get her to harmonize. Im directing her. Giving her notes. Im trying to play and then shes coming in with harmony. You talked about how, after the success of frozen that you decided you were leaning into being a role model. How does that play into this book . Good question. First of all, leaning into a role model is a lot of responsibility especially when you dont always practice what you preach. Especially when its for a young generation. Youre talking about empowerment and embracing that, harnessing that, not being afraid to relinquish that into the world. When some days you just dont feel like getting out of bed in the morning. Thats a contradiction that i deal with. As far as loud mouth goes, its about really learning to be, to pick up space and not be afraid of alienating yourself because of your give and to be proud of it. By the way, something that will get you out of bed in the morning is drama queen. The new album. Im a Childrens Book writer by day and musician from night. I go from this into sequins. More cleavage and more sequins. [ laughter ] little early now, but, yeah. I wanted to make a disco dance album. The theater community, theyre very well behaved unless theyre opening candy wrappers or using their phones in the middle of the show. Yeah. I want an audience less behaved that i could practically stage dive, theyre so close to me and i can feel them. Thats why i love going to clubs in the middle of the night. I have gone to day heaven in london at 1 a. M. And surprised them. Had the most amazing shows. I love the opportunity of being able to go and dance and sing and cry with them and express my gratitude, really my friends and family for teaching me and inspiring me to live our lives. You can really tell. This means more to you than just the music. It is also about that pride. It is about pride as a celebration. Especially in this society right now and a time that has so much adversity and so much turmoil. I feel like its even more important to be an ally. Cara, were coming up on the 20th anniversary of wicked. Im curious when you first saw your big sister on the stage belting out . Yes. Thats part of the reason we wrote proud. Its a wizard and i moment. When shes singing the end of it. Theyre playing the other song. [ laughter ] maybe i brought tears to your eyes there. But pride i think you always say the words. This coming year, shes projecting up to 1 million in revenue. Some experts say cash stuffing can help you be more intentional about your money. Spending on a whim is so easy to do. Hes written a book all about the grain called the simple art of rice. It has eluded me. It is not so simple, jj. Yes, it is. Its easy. And the reason why it hasnt been is because you havent had the book the simple art of rice to make your life easier. You always wash your rice. Look im gonna show you how to measure rice. To rinse or not to rinse . You rinse. You rinse. My grandmother told me to rinse. All the grandmothers rinse. Rinse. Pour your rice into this pot. This is rinsed rice . Yes. Pour it right in. Take your spatula. Flatten it out. Your deal is, because we were cheating, talking in the break. No matter how much rice, flatten it out. And then, doesnt matter if youre doing a cup, two cups, three cups of rice. This is the important part. This is important. The most important part is the pot. Rice doubles in size. If you have too small a pot its going to boil over the top, then vice versa. Put your third finger on top of the rice. Pour your liquid. Mine is on the bottom of the rice. Top of the rice . Put it on top. Slow slow slow. Get it close to my knuckle . Yes. Gets right to your knuckle thats it. Doesnt matter if your hand is bigger than mine or your husbands. It will work every time. I think i got it. Every night. Marinated shrimp. Right out of the book. Its coming, rick. Its coming. Some chives. Okay. Some lemon zest. Should everybody invest in one of these . Everybody should have a food processor. Okay. It will help you out. Salt. Thats whats been missing. In your cooking . Yes. Little oil and lemon juice. Then youll get this beautiful marinade here. Were going to have this recipe for me and for you. For everybody out there. Just marinate your shrimp really nice. How long do you let this sit . Good coverage. Good coverage. Can never over marinate. How long do you like it to sit . 25, 30 minutes. If you are a preplanner where you are days ahead, you can put this in your fridge the night before. It will absorb all that flavor. cause sometimes like chicken you can overmarinate. Yes. No. This, no. Then put it right on your grill pan. Oh. So far i have got this. Im feeling very confidence. The great thing about shrimp, i call it six minutes. Takes six minutes in a hot pan. Three minutes on each side. Youll see it get beautifully cooked here. Your cast iron pan has the grill marks. Do we need to get one of those . You do. I want summer all the time. When i get a grill pan, thats what it tells me. Making a shopping list. You know that perfect pot of rice . I want to get back to it. Right now its pretend cooking. How long does it cook . It takes 23 minutes. 23 minutes. Do you want another tip . Yes, because i touch too much. You cant touch the pot. Cant shake the pot. Number one thing is you dont put salt in your rice until its done. Oh. When you put the salt in the rice it takes the rice longer to cook. Oh, man. Look. Then you get this beautiful pot of rice. Do you have a rice grain . I love carolina gold rice. I love red rice. Very different rice grains that you can add. They all have different cooking times, correct . They all have different cooking times. Nothing will take you longer than 33 minutes. I fluff my rice like pearls. Should look like pearls. Add in the salt. Hows that taste, everybody . So good. Perfect rice. This is how you add the flavor. Everybody is saying rice has no flavor, but you can add so much flavor. Fresh herbs. You dont always use all the rice you make. You have a good idea for a leftover rice. Take it to the next level. Rice salad. This is an israeli rice salad. Some raisins, almonds, lemon juice, olive oil. Thats the rice thats been in your fridge. You just fluff it up. Thats the thing about the simple part of rice. It gives you so many things. You can take it and make it like oatmeal. You can make rice to have your breakfast the next day, your dinner. And you do jjs work is so great. Just scan the qr code on the screen to get his recipes.
