But the headline is the much, much cooler temperatures. As you go throughout the morning you see the high clouds begin a thin out a little bit. Had this accident after 4 00 this morning on excaliber drive. The car was traveling south on south capitol avenue when it hit the center divide, crashing. The car became engulfed in flames. Both victims were found dead in that car. The Coroners Office is working to identify the victims and notify their nextofkin. Developing news, deadly terror attacks overseas in turkey, egypt and nigeria. A bomb blast went off inside a coptic crist tan church in cairo and as killed at least 35 people. In intan bull a Kurdish Military group is claiming responsibility for a pair of deadly becomes that left at least 38 people dead, including 30 police officers. We have the latest from abc news. A touching memorial for the youngest victim of the ghost ship warehouse fire, draven mcgill. The 17yearold was a student and vocalist as a San Francisco school of the arts. Saturday a performance was held in his honor. Choir is a team sport and this was his team, this was his family. The director of cal music was also drave of ns teacher. She said he have loved electronic dance music and hiphop but was trained in classical. Having to say goodbye to him has been very, very difficult. And this is our way to honor him and to remember him, doing what we have done together for the last three years, which is making music together. Classmates hung notes on the wall outside the theater to share memories and say thanks. The school collected donations to help dravens family, including his father, who is an almeda county sheriffs deputy. The school is planning a full performance on the 13th to honor both draven and another victim, johnny egas. He was djing at ghost ship the night of the fire. In San Francisco, elissa harrington, abc7 news. Benefits for the fire victims families continue today. There will be a concert at San Franciscos mezzanine. The minimum donation is 20, which will go to the oakland fire fund. That starts at 8 00 tonight. There were several other benefits held last night. Abc7 news was at the bottom of the hill in San Franciscos petrero hills neighborhood when all the proceeds from this event went to the families. Clark was a long time sound engineer at bottom of the hill. You never realize the impact of these people until Something Like this happens. So many different groups have worked with barrett in the past and some of the other victims and all the patrons are incredibly on board. Organizers say the turnout last night was incredible. There are plenty of ways to help the families of those 36 victims. Nearly 630,000 has already been donated to the Fire Relief Fund on youcaring. Com. New this morning, oakland firefighters put out a fire at an abandoned building t started after 3 00 this morning on fairfax avenue and bancroft. It took about halfhour for the crews to put out the flames. The building is less than two miles from the ghost ship warehouse. Abc7 news was where her car slammed into a light pole. It happened just after 8 30 last night. One of the biggest effect the storm lest is the tree that came down on the high bay in oakland. Highway patrol officers arrived to find the giant tree blocking all four lanes of the freeway and the driver a trapped. The driver still trapped in the vehicle. My partner, along with the other vehicle, had to extract the driver out of the vehicle. They broke branches and got the driver out and he was uninjured. The driver of the camaro spotted the tree driving and didnt know if he should speed past it or slam on the brakes. He decide today stop and got caught under the tree. Southbound lanes were closed three hours. Rain soaked tree roots were a problem across the bay area. One fell on to the 880 freeing in hayward. On the great highway in San Francisco, drivers were squeezed down to one lane because of flooding. The city downpours did a cause a few other whetherrelated issues but it didnt dampen the spirits of a dozen people dressed up as kris kringle. Its always like this. I love it. The annual santa con event had a good turnout. Umbrellas became a popular accessory to the santa suits. Abc7 news. [chainsaw] another fallen tree kept pg e crews busy. Ten homes and businesses lost power because a tree land on top of powerlines very early yesterday morning. And drivers encountering flooding when the creek overflowed near santa rosa. In the sierra, search crews will be back out this morning looking for a ski who are got caught in an avalanche. It happened on a closed ski run at Mount Rose Ski tahoe, which is on the nevada side. Crews started searching the back country for the missing 60yearold man yesterday afternoon. They had to pull back because of weather conditions. The skier was with another man who managed to get out of the avalanche. The skiers obviously made a decision they wanted to make a run there. And obviously this did not work out for the best. Our function right now is to do everything we can to try to find this individual. Officials say the skiers did not have a shovel or Safety Equipment necessary for back country skiing. Flooding may occur throughout parts of bay area this week thanks to this weeks arrival of king tides. We can expect the tides starting today. The highest will take place tuesday and wednesday when they rise to more than seven feet throughout the bay area. Of the king tides occur every year when the earth is closest to the sun and the moons orbit is closest to the earth. This is a tick wet time. We will add thursday into that, as well. Investigators say they were not pursuing the driver when she crashed. A sevenyear veteran of the Santa Clara Police department is in jail this morning, a i cued of domestic violence. Fellow officers arrested daniel bird yesterday morning. Investigators say when they responded to the call just after midnight, a woman he had been dating had visible injuries. Saw a few peaks of sun and yesterday anywhere from a tenth of an inch to over three inches in parts of the south bay. Oakland was the big winner with over an inch and a quarter of rain. Half moon bay at 50. With looking at the golden gate bridge, its gray, its going to be a cool day today. Santa rosa 40. 45 in in novato. Good day to do the shopping and get a tree because we have a wet middle of the week coming into play. Sunshine for you today but less of it tomorrow. And looking at rain and wind tuesday, wednesday and particularly wednesday night into thursday. Looking at some very heavy rain, very gusty winds. And we could see some flooding and some problems around here. Also the Sierra Nevada getting into the act, as well. So the percentage of normal since october, everyone over 100 . It lifts up to the north but after that on thursday not only the heavy rain, some very, very gusty winds. Looks like it will last right on through friday. Preliminary rainfall estimates for those three days easily 2 inches up in the north bay, maybe an additional inch and a half. We will watch it carefully for you. There is a winter storm watch for the west slopes of the Sierra Nevada for tuesday and wednesday. One to two feet of the heavy wet snow above the s. Then it looks like we will see fluctuating snow levels. We could get into a warmer air mass and then a much, much cooler air mass into next weekend. Parishoners at Holy Cross Catholic church held a special ceremony yesterday as they rebuild following a devastating fire two years ago. Music filled the multipurpose hall thats doubled for a place for religious services for the past two years. The Holy Cross Community blessed the ground where the new church will stand. It means a lot. A lot of people here and really grieved a lot. Seeing the old smoke going up in smoke. But now we are hopeful to see the Community Gets back on its feet. Parishioners hope to have their new church finished by april of 2018, just in time to celebrae easter. Santa claus brightened many faces at san joses International Airport yesterday. A Police Helicopter helped santa finish his journey from the north pole. Officers from several Bay Area Community worked alongside st. Nick to bring cheer to children battling cancer. A bombing at the main coptic christian cathedral in cairo has killed 35 people at least and injured many others. This is a deadly attack against the minority in recent memory. A bomb was thrown into a chapel, but some say the explosive device could have been planted inside the chapel. So far no one has claimed responsibility. And more Development News a Kurdish Militant Group has claimed responsibility for two bombings in istanbul of that claimed the lives of at least 38 people, including 30 police officers. One of the deadly bomb bombs was caught during the newscast you saw in istanbul. It will be the brightest day we are going to see for the next several days because more clouds increase tomorrow ahead of a system that will bring rain on tuesday and wednesday and some very gusty winds for our third consecutive day of rain on thursday. Looking at the percentage of normal since the rainy season started october 1st, everyone well above average starting with san jose, 102 of average, up to 167 of average in santa rosa. Looking at a pretty saturated ground over in the east bay, and also down around the peninsula. So any more rain, in fact, three consecutive days of rain, with very gusty winds, will probably create some problems here wednesday night into thursday. Starting out on tuesday, notice the rain here. Putting a 2 on this system. Then by wednesday morning the rain continues. So i think that will bring us also a number 2. But as we see the afternoon, the system lifts a bit to the north. By thursday the winds are increasing, more heavy downpours on the way. Looks like it will end on friday. Tuesday through thursday, preliminary rainfall. Anywhere from 1 to 2 inches of rain. Of course, we want the rain, but with so much of it in a short period of time, we could certainly see some flooding. You saw how the tree came down in the east bay yesterday. We could see more of that as well. The National Weather service already on it with a winter storm watch for the western slopes of the mountains on tuesday and wednesday. 2 to 8 inches. A heavy, wet snow, one to two feet love the passes. Chain controls and delays. We will see fluctuating snow levels in the days to come.
