We will have partly cloudy skies San Francisco and oakland. Its 69 already by the delta. So it will be getting hot inland. Warmer around the bay. But fog right now with visibility a mile and three quarters up in santa rosa. Heres the plan for the fog. Right now its inside the bay so we are looking at fog around Mountain View and hayward. Still a little bit up in marin county. And where it is warmer, thats where that high is building in and where it is cooler from 24 hours ago, thats where the fog has been sitting. So heres the Golden Gate Bridge and your forecast calls for temperatures today on the coast remain cool and gray. Near 70 in the city. Partly cloudy skies. Around the bay mid80s and mid70s. Pleasant. But inland we are warming up to here 100 degrees. Cornell. Thank you very much, lisa. 17 firefighters part of the strike team from the area are headed to fight a fire in solano county. The fire near Lake Berryessa has spread. At one point in forced mandatory evacuations. We have the report. Reporter this was a crucial weapon in the battle against the monticello fire. Helicopter after helicopter reloaded their buckets to fight a blaze burning in a remote and rugged area. On the ground crews were mopping up hotspots in areas already charred by the wildfires. At one point saturday it appeared that the fire jumped the line and tripled in size. We did lose a little bit of our containment lines, but now we are back up to 30 . Smoke could be seen for miles away. Check out the spot from Traverse Air Force base. At one point the wildfire threatened 50 homes and forced residents to evacuate golden bear estates friday night. Saturday evening the homes were no longer in danger. People staying at this canyon creek resort campground were also evacuated, including this camper from napa. We saw the flow coming over the hills and coming over the top really fast. While most of the fire danger by the campground is gone, many returned to pick up their belongings and head home. All the power shut off. No power or water down there so time to leave. The fun of a fourth of july Holiday Weekend cut short. The fun kind of got spoiled. But Mother Nature took over one day and thats about it. This fire now more difficult to control than the fire burning to the west in napa county. Thats why we got out of here. We knew how the other napa fire went. Saturday night as the fire continues to burn at a distance along the mountain ridges, residents and firefighters know the season ahead will be a rough one. This is just a sign, i believe, of what the season is going to bring. That was suzanne reporting. Firefighters getting the upper hand on another fire burning north of Lake Berryessa. The fire that burned two homes and 7 other buildings is now 75 contained. It charred 4300 acres in napa and lake county since it started on tuesday. Officials are still investigating the cause of a brush fire that destroyed eight homes in collinsville. It started around 1 30 friday. When crews arrived two houses were on fire and flames quickly spread to six other houses. The red cross is helping families who lost their home. Firefighters estimate the damage at 2. 5 million. As the weather heats up, so does the fire danger in the east bay. Crews had to put out two small brush fires along i680. That was in fremont and quickly approaching a Water Treatment facility and several homes. The fire Officials Say they got several 911 calls about the fires. Its exactly the kind of awareness Fire Departments need from the public. We are in an extended drought and its the hottest time of year. Everything exceedingly dry. Any slight spark can set off a fire. Overall two acres were burned and no structures were damaged there. What was supposed to be a fun 4th of july left several bay area residents with devastating injuries, all because of illegal fireworks. Abc7 News ReporterLisa Amin Gulezian has details from san jose. Just milliseconds after hearing that sound, he hit the ground bleeding. His family said he bought a mortar firework to entertain the neighborhood kids. That was long string and i barely sparked the lighter and it took off. Both of the 41yearolds hands blew off instantly. His father said, i thought he was dead. My son wouldnt get up. I said help me move him to the sofa. Blood still stains the family sofa and driveway. Ortiz is a carpenter. His family has no idea what he will do once he leaves the hospital. An uncertain future also faces two men from sunnyvale. After what is described as another mortar type firework went off while they were holding it. The victims friends did not want to be identified. When it went off, there goes his hand and apparently a chunk of his face, its kind of gut wrenching. The victims were rushed to stanford for surgery and both men rely on their hands to work. One is a tattoo artist and the other is in construction. And finally in santa rosa, a man was found clutching his hand while lying on west third street. Dispatchers called it an explosion injury caused by fireworks. All the victims could be charged for using and explosive device. Abc7 news. Pg e Officials Say celebratory gunfire shot up into the air and likely caused a power line to come down, killing a man and injuring his brother. That was friday night. The 19yearold man of oakland died after be electrocuted and his brother remains in critical conditions. Police in oakland say beefed up patrols resulted in dozens of arrests in confiscated fireworks on the 4th of july. Barrels were set up at fire stations for people to turn in their illegal fireworks, and as you see the barrel is pretty much full. This morning one person is recovering in the hospital after a fire in san jose. It took about 50 minutes to control this fire on coyote road off highway 101. The entire house was burning when crews arrived. They said when the fire started something went wrong with a medical oxygen tank. We have an idea it might have been some type of mechanical malfunction within the house due to one of the residents being on home oxygen. That accelerated the fire through the house. Thats why it became so big so quick. The firefighters believe another appliance may have started the fire. Two other homes next door were evacuated during the blaze. Officials are trying to determine what caused a water main break in novato yesterday afternoon flood ago street. It happened off 101 and highway 37. Some called worried their homes would flood as well. Fortunately water did not get into any of the houses. There was a shooting that injured one person at a bart station in the east bay. It happened around 10 20 last night in the bus zone right outside the hayward bus station. That person was taken to the hospital. No word on their condition. Hayward bart station was shut down about 20 minutes while police investigated. No word on any police are looking for a man they say robbed a bank in burlingame yesterday. It happened at 1 00 p. M. At the bank of america on chapin avenue. The suspect wore sunglasses, a hat, and a womans frilly blue scar everybody. Police say he handed the teller a note saying he had a gun and bomb and took off with the cash. He is described as a white man in his 40s, bald, about 56. Caltran said construction work on northbound 280 in San Francisco is on schedule this weekend. Crews are replacing a bridge hinge between cesar chavez street and 24th street. Yesterday they were putting in metal girders and pouring concrete and reinforcing it. The next step is paving and painting stripes on the freeing. Theres always the hope we can get it done earlier than expected. But obviously those things happen as the project goes on. We may know a little more later today and into the morning. The freeway is set to reopen by 5 00 a. M. Tomorrow. The shutdown starts at 101 split and continues to king street. Another closer is planned for the labor day Holiday Weekend in september. A big change for drivers today in San Francisco. Free sunday parking resumes in most areas. The city started charging at parking meters on sundays last year, but the program has now been scrapped. However, you will still need to feed the meters operated by the port of San Francisco of San Francisco and Fishermans Wharf and meters at at t park, as well as during special events like game day. A great white shark caught on a fishermans line fighting for its life when a swimmer got in the way. Shark attack. Thats not good. He came out of nowhere and lifted me and lunged at my chest. We spoke to the victim, californian realtor steve, overnight. Locked into my chest. When i took my righthand and grabbed the nose of the shark to try to pryition mouth open to get it off of me, that all happened within two seconds. He was bleeding but conscious. I started yelling somebody get him, help him, whatever they could. Looks like hes calling for help. Keep swimming. Keep swimming brave surfers nearby saved the stricken swimmer. There was a lot of blood in the water and all over the board. It was a pretty intense shark bite. I was pretty much in shark and screaming the whole time. I was scared more than anything. I was just terrified. Multiple puncture wounds to his ribs, back and arms. This was such a freak accident. I couldnt believe it happened. We do see the sharks. They have been around. Theres never been a point. July 4th weekend. How ironic is that. The great white population is back the rise, researchers say up 42 since 1997 thanks to conversation efforts. Ism grants are being flown into the state because of overcrowding in texas. Bay area congressman Eric Swalwell just returned where he saw firsthand out immigrants and families are being affected. Someone saw it friday night and found an animal carcass in the same area yesterday morning. The Mountain Lion was also spotted on queens lane around 5 30 yesterday afternoon. Sightings come after someone spotted a Mountain Lion last week in fernwood street n that incident the Mountain Lion attacked and killed a deer. Beautiful weather today. Levi stadium has been getting the most attention but interest in the world cup has focused attention on a new stadium for the San Jose Earthquakes. A look at the quakes new home and a look at their features. 200 or more construction workers have been on site almost daily. The new stadium should be ready by november, giving the players and management time to settle in before the 2015 season starts in march. The team, you know, it will be good for the area. The new home will be the centerpiece will be a new, mixeduse development on what used to be the site of fmc, who made military tanks. It includes four Community Soccer fields the city is putting in. 1. 5 million square feet of office. Next to the stadium. Space for retail and hotel. This whole area will be a new gateway for north san jose. They will be utilizing solar energy for power needs. Solar panels will be installed over the v. I. P. Parking area. Initial projected savings will be 45,000 to 60,000 a year. Hopefully, as time goes on and they continue to see the benefits and as solar continues to come down, we will add more as we go on. Heres where the warmth starts over the east bay hills where already weve got insignificant warming and the sea breeze. The fog has been situated here. Its been really cool. But we will get into warming around the bay. The coast is going to stay cloudy and cool. With the warm to hot day today around the bay and the inland valleys, thats our warmup and thats where its exceedingly dry with the relative humidity anywhere from 20 to 30 . Close to the Association Much better recovery. We will stay warm. In fact, well above average. Near 100 degrees tomorrow inland. Inland. E to the High Pressure o the east of us. If it was to the west of us, we will get into the offshore flow and that could be really bad with the gusty winds.
