Temperatures in the upper 50s, its been in the upper 50s all morning long here and near 60 in oakland. Heres live doppler 7 hd and where its raining. You go way far to the north, crescent city, eureka. We have been picking up returns along the shoreline near sea ranch and Hidden Valley where our radar is close to that mt. St. Helena. It will be a cloudy day today and we wait on the rain. Temperatures will continue to climb through the 60s, a few sunny breaks in the south bay, and we will manage once again numbers near 70 degrees, it will be a little cooler at the coast and the rain still slated to move in late tonight, close to midnight in some neighborhoods. Ill tell you how much and have a look at our extended outlook in a few minutes. Lisa, thank you. Developing news this morning, three people are being questioned about the shooting of a San FranciscoPolice Officer after authorities caught up with them early this morning following a massive manhunt. Officials say they spotted a white sedan connected with the shooting late last night when officers tried to pull the car over in the east bay, the driver took off, leading officers on a chase, spanning several bay area counties. That pursuit ended around 12 30 this morning in san jose. Three people have been taken into custody. They have not been identified. And this morning, we have audio of the call made by that wounded Police Officer. Sky 7 hd shows the scene over San Franciscos Mission District where he was shot and seriously injured yesterday. Abc 7 news obtained the dramatic 911 call the officer made. Officer shot in the area. 46, 46. 46 respond to the area. Ambulance right now, 1377 florida, ive been hit that officer is out of surgery and recovering this morning. Abc 7 News Reporter nick smith has more from San FranciscoGeneral Hospital on what led up to yesterdays shooting. Reporter sfpd received a complaint about a suspicious vehicle. When cops got to the 1300 block of Florida State they found the car. Two officers approached it one on the drivers side and the other on the passenger side. Witness asking not to be identified described what happened next. We were in the house, we heard probably five or six shots and then we heard that a cop had been shot while we think pulling somebody over. Reporter the first shots fired came from the suspect vehicle, that then made a move to take off. The passenger officer saw the car backing up, fired upon the vehicle in defense of his partner, striking the vehicle at least one time. Reporter it wasnt immediately clear if the suspect was hit but he did get away. Sky 7 hd was over the scene as investigators continue their search for clues. From this view you can see handcuffs on the trunk of the car and what appears to be a bullet hole in the trunk. Sfpd says the officer is out of surgery, conscious in good spirits, identified at this time only as a 28yearold man and sixyear veteran of the police department. The second officer was not hit. Our cameras were there as the officers wife arrived at the emergency entrance. She was greeted by the doctor and other officers before she was quickly escorted inside. At San Francisco general, nick smith, abc 7 news. Developing news an International Effort is under way right now to locate a missing Malaysia Airlines plane with 239 people on board. The boeing 777 wide body jet disappeared from radar on a flight from kuala lumpur to beijing. Terrorism has not been ruled out. This morning interpol is saying no nation checked its data base that held information about two stole. Passports used to board that flight. The fbi and the ntsb are ready to send agents to investigate if necessary and the search area has now been expanded in case the plane turned back. Abc News Reporter david curley has the latest. Reporter this is the actual 777 that is missing an aircraft with few maintenance issues but disappeared a little more than 36 hours ago. Heres what we do know. Malaysia airlines 370, the red eye to beijing took off on its sixhour flight at 12 41 in the morning. 40 minutes later at 1 20 in the morning it flew out of the radar coverage area. Ten minutes later, the airline says the crew reported their position, the last time they were heard from. How much longer they were in the air or what direction they were headed is unclear. But this morning Officials Say theyre investigating the possibility that the plane tried an air turnback, a literal turnaround back to the airport at kuala lumpur. We do know the pilot 53yearold zaharie shah was experienced. He had been with the airline more than 30 years. Theres so much we do not know, what was happening in the final moments . The black box also likely tell us. They are now presumably at the bottom of the south china sea, locator beacons pinging for a month or so. Its a little over 600 feet so that means they will be able to find it. Thats not a terrible depth of thousands of feet or a rough bottom that would make a major problem out of this. Reporter the black boxes are critical in another high profile disappearance air france 447 the black boxes provided the answers to why that jet fell out of the sky. Some are asking whether all that data from these jets should be beamed back to land rather than stored on those black boxes. This morning, the search and rescue crews are looking for wreckage so they can start listening for the locator pings from those allimportant recorders. David curley, abc news, washington. New details investigators say a San Francisco firefighter lied about the circumstances surrounding the death of a teenager who was run over and killed by a Fire Department rig following the crash of asiana flight at sfo. Alyse ducket claims her rig did not run over the 15yearold, contradict videos shown in helmet cam footage. Duck ett said she could not have hit the victim because she saw the tarped covered girl on the ground. Camera footage shows a firefighter placing a tarp on the girl after ducketts rig drove over the spot where the girl was found. Ducketts rig was one of two that hit the girl. New this morning, the chp is investigating a fatal accident on interstate 880 in fremont. It happened around 10 30 last night on northbound 880 near mallory avenue when a man was hit by a car. He died at the scene. Its not clear why he was on the freeway. Police say the car that hit him did stop and the driver is cooperating with investigators. Police say it does not appear alcohol or drugs played a role. That freeway was shut down for several hours, but has since reopened. Oakland police are investigating a hitandrun that killed a mother of five. Felicia ward was near the intersection of 98th avenue and plymouth street yesterday morning when she was hit. This is sky 7 hd video of the intersection where ward died. Her husband was seriously injured. Hes hospitalized. Police are asking witnesses to come forward. A celebration of life will be held today for an offduty firefighter killed in a tractor incident. Police say tony nunez was driving a tractor on ranchland and unincorporated conta costa last month when it went over an embankment. He was pinned under that tractor. The ceremony celebrating his life will be held at noon at hoss pavilion at uc berkeley. Come up next dozens of people hurt after a stage collapses at a Southern California high school. What investigators believe caused it. The terrifying moments when a stage collapsed in the middle of a high school performance. Dozens of people have been taken to the hospital. Investigators are now looking into what went wrong. Abcs bosni kanani has more from l. A. Reporter caught on camera, this morning, frightening moments as stage collapses at suvvai high school, california. Look again as the stage comes down. The stage platform came down. It folded right in the middle of it. And the girls dropped, all of the ones that were in the front they dropped about ten feet into the pit. Reporter the students were performing an annual musical theater challenge when the accident happened. Cell phone video captures the moment the stage literally falls out from beneath the students. According to anaheim police, 24 students were taken to area hospitals with minor injuries, possible broken bones, bruises and scrapes. At this point were trying to get a handle on it and make sure everybody is set and get the parents reunited with the children. Reporter investigators are on the scene this morning trying to determine the cause. Investigators have suggested the cause is likely just too many students on the stage. Those students have been posting photos and as frightening as the whole thing was theyre expressing relief that it wasnt worse. There are no reports of any serious injuries. Abc news, los angeles. Oakland as coowner lou wolff says hes weighing the possibility of a temporary baseball stadium for his team. According to the mercury news wolff is looking for alternate sites if he cant extend his teams twoyear lease at the coliseum. Sites hes considering include san jose Municipal Stadium and San Franciscos candlestick park. Wolff says plans for a temporary stadium are only a possibility and that he hopes to extend the lease at oakland coliseum. Lisa argen, where are you, up there on the roof and the nice temperatures. This front has been teasing us with some returns on the radar, the cloudy skies and this morning we have mild temperatures, south winds ahead of the system and were in the warm sector of this cold front which is providing the balmy temperatures. So live doppler 7 hd showing a few returns but nothing reaching the ground here. The heaviest rain is to the north. Weve got rain around mt. Shasta and crescent city. You head further south and weve had a few returns by Hidden Valley, heelsburg, mt. St. Helena where our radar is and around sea ranch. Possibility of the far north bay looking at a shower today, but the rest of us will sit underneath the cloudy skies. Heres a view from mt. Tam. Well see a few sunny breaks this morning, 59 in san jose. Los gatos, Half Moon Bay 57 degrees, upper 50s for oakland and San Francisco average highs this time of year should be in the low 60s, San Francisco upper 60s in san jose. Heres san jose right now where you can see it looks overcast, but we will look for some of that sunshine to filter through, 57 in concord, its 58 in livermore with cool spots santa rosa at 54. So yes it is anywhere from 6 to 10 degrees milder this morning than we were yesterday. We had plenty of 40s yesterday. Sticking to our tower camera shows the cloudy sky, the chance of a shower north today, this is far north of the north bay, and then showers tonight through the overnight hours, and by the morning commute well see leftover showers in the south bay, but the front weakens considerably as it heads to the south and temperatures warm quickly behind the system for offshore winds. So High Pressure is still keeping the front to the north. It eventually will begin to tag south due to that mechanism that area of low pressure, and once that dries itself, well look for the rain to begin at about 11 00, midnight or so through cloverdale, a little bit more shower activity and by 3 00, santa rosa could pick up some measurable rain but you can see the rest of the bay its light. The east bay, the peninsula and by 5 00, 6 00 tomorrow morning the morning commute some wet pavement for the Santa Clara Valley, the Santa Cruz Mountains looking wet and the breezy winds to follow behind it. So rainfall amounts anywhere from trace amounts in the Santa Clara Valley to san jose to upwards of a half inch in the coastal hills of sonoma county, but most likely about a tenth of an inch and consider yourself lucky if you get 0. 2 or 0. 3. Heres a look at the state today the front bisecting the northern half with the cooler showery weather. In between the 60s with the clouds in yoyo semity and the southland, 82 degrees los angeles and san diego. High temperatures today San Francisco mid60s, Half Moon Bay about that, well see 67, san mateo with 70 in palo alto and santa cruz, and antioch looking at 70. Low 70s towards the livermore valley. The accuweather sevenday forecast plenty of clouds blanketing the sky today, mild temperatures tomorrow, a rain event for us and its over with breezy winds and our sunshine returns with steadily warming temperatures and the warmest days of the week look to be friday and next weekend where we possibly, carolyn, maybe could break some records temperature wise with upwards of near 80 degrees.
