A man is dead after a stabbing in san jose. Police say they received a report of a disturbance just after midnight. The man had at least one stab wound. San jose are looking for suspects and investigating the motive for the stabbing. This is the citys 35th homicide of the year. Were also following breaking news where police are investigating a shooting that left one Person Injured in downtown walnut creek. It happened around 1 30 this morning at the corner of locust and cypress. You can see heavy Police Presence in the area. No word on the condition of the person that was shot. Back in 2013 Walnut Creek Police stopped issuing liquor licenses due to increased violence in the downtown nightclub area. And police have a sketch of a man wanted for beating a woman caught on video. He repeatedly punched the woman in the face for no reason. It happened last saturday night in pacific heights. The woman broman man broke t womans nose. Notice he has a mole on his upper right cheek. He has dirty blond hair. In youve seen him, please call police. New this morning, 49ers quarterback Collin Kaepernick continues to make headlines. The team acknowledges he did not stand for the National Anthem before last nights game. You can see kaepernick sitting down while the rest of the team is standing. Now, in a statement the team said the National Anthem is an opportunity to honor our country, but they recognize the rights of an individual who choose to participate or not in the celebration of the National Anthem. Now, kaepernick just released a lengthy statement about his actions. It said in part, quote, i am not going to stand up to show pride in a country that oppresses black people and people of color. Her father is being held on 1 million bail at the jail. There is one piece of good news in this tragic story. Her organs were donated. Weve really were all shocked. Reporter Matthew Thompson lives directly below the apartment where a six week old baby girl was repeatedly beaten by her own father. Doctors found she suffered a cracked skull and multiple broken bones and fractures. I never heard anything suspicious. I heard i heard the baby crying once in a while. I could hear moving around. I never heard any violence. I think its so sad that a little six week old baby girl, all she knew was this brutality. Reporter neighbors say 32yearold lived with his girlfriend. His two older children often stayed there as well. Abc 7 learned that he has a record of child abuse. How could our system be such that somebody who has previous child abuse conviction gets custody of his children . Reporter he was arraigned and charged with murder. He admitted to detectives to ripping her from a car seat and said her head hit the handle. This is the worst worst scenario that can happen in a Domestic Abuse case. She was hit by cross fire from two men slit schooting at a third man yesterday. Aldridge was on her way to register her kids for school. The baby wasnt hurt, but the tragedy came one day after wades mother sat on a panel about gun violence. Wade expressed his grief on twitter saying another act of senseless gun violence. She told the item she had sex with Law Enforcement officers several while she was underage. She said shes both excited and nervous about the month that shell be spending in rehab. Happening today, thousands of residents plan to protest to fight against an expansion of the land fill. The land fill in neighboring san jose has been around since the 1930s. Many people say a stench that comes from the landfill makes its way to their city and they had enough. So today theyll be running a peaceful rally during the family bike ride. It starts at 9 00 this morning on ranch drive. Governor brown has taken a strong stance against coal. He signed a bill yesterday to ban funds for nicole shipping terminals throughout the state. He applauded the Oakland City Council which voted to ban coal terminals. Many were saying it would bring much needed jobs but now that Governor Brown signed the bill money will not be provided for new coal terminals. Happening today in nap pa, a branch of the air force is hosting a Training Exercise. This comes after the twoyear anniversary of the 6. 0 napa quake. Theyll conduct the Training Exercise which will show a 7. 2 earthquake. Theyll use the Emergency Services to assess the area. This morning friends and loved ones said goodbye to those who died after the 6. 2 earthquake shook italy. The death toll is up to 281 with nearly 400 injured and some thousand more looking for shelter. 5,000 rescuers are still working in hopes of recovering survivors. A federal judge is refusing to block californias strict new vaccination laws. He has denied a request for a preliminary injunction gengsaga it. 17 families are suing to block the law. It requires all school kids to get vaccinated before attending class and takes away religious and personal exempt reasons to opt out. Unvaccinated kids who cant get a medical exemption will have to be home schooled. Students will begin moving into a historic Residence Hall that underwent a renovation. The building opened in 1929 and is thought to be the nations first residential hall. Professors and graduate students will live there as well and theyll participate in weekly sitdown dinners and volunteer work. It happened on tuesday and as abc 7 News Reporter explains, this all started when a man took out his cell phone just to take some pictures. When a cab driver jumped the curb, peter muller went to see what happened. I was curious and i wanted to check it out. Reporter he was one of dozens of people taking pictures and video when he says a woman began yelling at him. She was saying i should be more concerned of the feelings of the victims. Reporter one of the victims, this shoe shine man who has a broken hip. As Police Responded to the crash another incident was just beginning. He nesinitially walked away fro the woman and two others and then returned. You can see a heated verbal argument. The man initially pulls the woman back until muller said one last sentence to get away. To get his [ bleep ] girlfriend out of my face. Im still in shock about it. Reporter one of the women continued to kick muller even as he pinned the man to the ground. When Police Arrived the person taking this video went downstairs. A sheriffs deputy threatening to have his wife killed is out of a job this morning. Deputy travis bran nonno longer works for the department. The Bay Area News Group reports that he was arrested for Domestic Violence and charged with violating a restraining order that his wife filed against him. Hes the division chief of Pediatric Gastroenterology in the Childrens Hospital in San Francisco. Two Nurse Practitioners been with me the whole time and between all of us we have run the camp and probably about half the kids here are our patients. Reporter he says some manage their illnesses on medications and control their diet but others have to endure surgery. It starts right here. It goes through a vein into my heart and nutrition and protein and all the stuff you need goes through it. A little over a year ago i had to have my colon removed after going through about six or seven different medications within six months so now i have what is called a j pouch which is formed out of my small intesti intestine. Reporter her surgery means she temporarily lives with something called a stoma on the outside of her abdomen. When i eat instead of going out one end they go out at end to give the colon a rest from having to push food through. Reporter campers love they are not treated like sick kids here. We try and put them through every activity we possibly can and they quickly go to the med shed, take their medications, get patched up if necessary and get back out to the business of being campers. Reporter its so great to see these kids having fun at least for a week because sometimes when theyre home people make fun of them because of their disease. We just have to rush to rest room lots of times and a few times a few people started making fun of me because i would just always rush otothe bathroom during class. Reporter the director of the Taylor Family foundation says they make extra accommodations for these campers. We also cover 140 acres so we put port a potties in throughout all campus so that no child risks having an accident. Reporter the experiences at camp go beyond are often life changing. Theyll be like i want to be a counselor, to be able to be that person in that kids life thats oh, my gosh, look at her and she went ahead to college and she did this and that. Reporter organizers are now calling to appoint a special prosecutor in this case. New this morning San Jose Police are asking for your help to find a man who they say robbed two banks this month. This is a picture of the man. Police say the first robbery happened last friday at around 3 15 at the chase bank on blossom hill road. The second robbery happened thursday afternoon just before 2 00 at the wells fargo bank. Police say he gave the bank tellers a note demanding money and that he had a gun. Its unclear how much money he got away with. In San Francisco police also need assistance identifying three people involved in a robbery. They say two men and a woman stole a laptop from the hall last month. Two of them then entered a different building and punched two students in the face and robbed them. Surveillance video shows the suspects walking through a university building. One of the victims suffered a broken nose. A man is accused of having more than 600 files containing child pornography on his phone and tablet. Hes charged with possessing and distributing child pornography. Investigators found hundreds of pictures and video in his home showing children as young as four years old. Police also found meth. If you live in sonoma county, officials want you to be aware of a money scam going around. The Sheriffs Office says a person claiming to be a lieutenant vance berry calls and says theres a warrant for arrest because of missed jury duty. The scammer says they must pay to avoid arrest and asks for a social number and credit card. Law enforcement agencies do not call people to tell them theres a warrant out for their arrest. Theres a move to put the brakes on big rigs traveling on highways in the bay area and across the country. Drought monitor shows only a fifth of the state still falls under the category of exceptional drought. A year ago it was more than double our current number. Reporter just outside modesto farming communities like patterson are facing a crisis. Theres barely enough water to irrigate crops. So little about a quarter of the local farms have stopped growing anything. He has over 12,000 acres that has not been farmed for the last several years and that has very sudden and severe economic Ripple Effect through these small communities. Reporter the Water District is responsible for supplying water to a swath of land 50 miles long. The district gets all its Irrigation Water from the delta canal. The contract allows them to take more than 140,000 acre feet. This year were receiving 5 of that. Reporter but it will soon tap an unexpected source. Used water from the nearby modesto sewage brant. The city flushes nearly 15 million gallons of water down the drain every day. Thats roughly 15 of what they need. The waste water plant recently underwent a 150 million upgrade making this sewage recyclable. Were taking waste water and removing all the pollutants and different chemicals in order to produce clean water on the other end. Right now that recycled water gets discharged into the san joaquin river. Under a new agreement 100 million pipeline will divert that water to farmers. Its safe for irrigation on crops. If people have been eating strawberries or art chokes over the last decade plus, thats whats been used on it. Reporter this project will take the idea to a much bigger scale. This will be one of the largest beneficial water reuse projects in the country. Other communities are watching closely to see what happens.
