Surveillance video captured what is believed to be the moment the crash happened as the plane burst into framlames. Theres no official cause but investigators say one likely factor was a strong wind gusting to near hurricane level. Officials say the plane crashed about 800 feet short of the runway. Back home in the bay area, the search is on for a groper. Peninsula police say a man inappropriately touched a young girl onpourboard a public bus. Tiffany wilson has the story from san mateo. Reporter take a good look at this man. Hes accused of inappropriately touching a 17yearold girl shortly after 11 00 a. M. Tuesday. Police say he boarded the bus at first and south b then sat down next to her. He touched her leg, put his arm around her several times and even touched her face. Reporter Sergeant Rick decker said the victim repeatedly told the suspect to stop. He did not. At one point he appeared to put his hand under her shift, which she resisted. Reporter the harassment continued until the suspect got off the bus near the hillsdale shopping center. No one on the bus was away. Riders are disgusted by the suspects alleged actions. Its crazy. I think its crazy. Its not okay to invade someones space. Reporter Athena Vazquez is 17 years old, the same age as the victim. Ive had a few men give me certain looks, but ive never had anyone come at me. Reporter police are encouraging parents to talk to their children about what to do is a stranger makes them uncomfortable. Vasquez says she already has a plan. A peninsula couple has been awarded 8 million in the wrongful death case of their baby daughter in 2010. A redwood city jury found 7monthold abigail was suffocated by a mattress pad made by evenflow. Her parents are sharing their story but evenflo is defending its product. You walk in the room and she would just light up. Reporter just 7 months old, abigail stopped breathing at day care. Her father was out of the country. I was running through the streets of berlin and calling out dont leave, dont leave, abby, dont leave. Reporter abigail died at the hospital. They were told she had been asleep on her back in another room. The coroner called it sids and thebltd it until the Police Report said she had been sleeping on her stomach. Putting a baby on her stomach is not a crime and it happens and she should have been able to breathe on that mattress. Reporter a mattress pad inside an evenflo play yard. The jury found it was the equivalent of a plastic bag. You put your baby on that product, the baby cannot breathe and the baby will die. Reporter he hopes the legal victory will lead to change. What we need is a law or a regulation that says babies need to be able to breathe through the top layer of a mattress pad, period. Its crazy that people just want to say, well, a baby dies in a crib, its sids, lets go home. Reporter the jury awarred them 8 million. Theres no amount of money that will bring her back, so but if somebody else doesnt have to go through this, i think its worth it. Reporter at trial, evenflo cited the fact that all treating emergency medical providers and the coroner determined abby died from sids. In a statement the company says in part evenflo stands behind the design of its playyard mattress pad and remains confident it was not the cause of her tragic death. New this morning, the father of france train hero Spencer Stone is facing charges for his alleged involvement in an arson fraud scheme. Brian stone and two other men are accused of collecting more than 1 million in insurance money collected from seven fires in sacramento. Stone is charged with 13 counts of mail and wire fraud. Investigators say he consulted and assisted the two other men with insurance claims. Captured. One of the most wanted suspects in connection to the paris terror attacks is now in custody. After four months on the run, one of the most wanted men in the world, finally cornered on a quiet brussels street. The man in the hooded sweatshirt believed to be Salah Abdeslam, dragged to a police car seeming to limp after being shot in the leg. The 26yearold is the eighth attacker, the only surviving terrorist of novembers dead low attacks that left 130 dead across paris. The french citizen grew up in belgium, a childhood friend of the alleged paris mastermind. On the night of november 13th he drove the car carrying the suicide bombers to frances biggest soccer stadium. Abdeslam also rented a car that dropped off the isis attackers at the theater where the American Band eagles of death metal war performing. Authorities believe abdeslam planned on carrying out another attack that night but got cold feet and called two friends in belgium to pick him up. When they stopped at a french gas station, surveillance cameras snapped this image. The three were stopped near the border but were allowed to pass into belgium. Abdeslams family claimed they didnt know where he was and urged him to turn himself in. Belgian authorities launched a massive manhunt, focusing on loc molenbeek. Abdeslams friends told abc news he was trying to get to syria, worried that isis supporters in europe were unhappy he didnt detonate his suicide vest that november night. Then on tuesday a break in the case. A raid on this house turned into a shootout, one man killed by a police sniper. Two others escaping, one of whom may have been abdeslam who reportedly jumped out the back window. Inside his fingerprints, a cache of weapons and an isis flag. So we will be looking at a couple of weak weather systems sliding down from the pacific northwest. Not a whole lot of moisture associated with them, but theyre going to act to cool us off, increase the cloud cover, bring in that cooler air mass, drop the temperatures and allow for just a little bit of light rain. There is that sun. Temperatures are ranging on the mild side with our coolest number morgan hill at 50, 54 San Francisco and san jose with oakland checking in at 56 degrees. With the clouds really nice shot from mt. Tam. Low clouds and high clouds, maybe a few sprinkles for you. We had some mist and drizzle in San Francisco earlier. Its 53 by the delta and that southwest wind was blowing this morning. You will feel cooler today even with a partly cloudy sky out that way. We have one on the way tomorrow which will be light from a tenth to a third of an inch with the light wind. So timing it out for you, you notice early on were dry but 9 00, 10 00 its raining in the north bay. By 11 00 the system limps along to the south and east. It will bring less than a tenth of an inch in the south bay. Around fremont, castro valley, this system a little more v vigorous. It holds together a little bit through 8 00 around san jose and cupertino, the santa cruz mountains. By 10 00 some spotty showers. Talk about the first system only a couple hundredths, maybe a quarter of an inch in napa and well have a Second System favor the north bay for threequarters of an inch of rain. So the pink saturday event celebrated each year in the castro during pride week is likely going away because it doesnt have a sponsor. Abc 7 News Reporter Lyanne Melendez explains why no one wants the job. Reporter pink saturday began as a modest block party. That was 1995. Like many events in the city, it grew to include thousands of people. It was a party leading up to the pride parade. Two years ago the sisters of perpetual indulgence said they no longer were able to manage it. We had incidents where volunteers were shoved and spit on and beaten. We had one of our volunteers had a concussion. Reporter before that in 2010 a 19yearold High School Student was fatally shot. The cost to put an event like this together was close to 80,000. Much of that money went to security and to the nonprofits who worked at the event. Last year at the 11th hour, the Lgbt Community center stepped in to manage it. The name was changed to pink party. But its director said that was a onetime deal. The work we do with low income folks and our own economic development, we just didnt feel like it was something we had the capacity to do on top of our other really important work this year. Reporter this is scott weiners district. If there was a group that timed to do the event and thought they could put together the group in the next three and a half months and if it were a group that we as a city had confidence that they would do a really good job and that it would be a safe event, were always open to a conversation.
