Authorities say a 50foot fishing vessel ran on to the rocks near the ritz carlton near miramonte point. There was only one person on board but hes refusing to get off the boat. That man tells the coast guard he plans to have his friends rescue him and will remove the boat from the rocks sometime in morning. Also this morning Oakland Police looking for the person responsible for a fatal hitandrun accident involving three vehicles. The crash happened last night at 14th and adeline. A passenger in a truck was killed. The driver and 2340er passenger are hospitalized. Another woman suffered minor injuries. The driver of a saab hatchback ran away from the scene. It took 12 hours but a man who barricaded himself with his 1yearold child for the standoff is now in custody. Police say 37yearold rudy soto has an Extensive Police record. Abc 7 news was there when the childs mother was reunited with her son after a long day of extensive negotiation. Police arrived at the apartment on sycamore street at 9 15 in the morning to deliver a copy of a protection order against soto to the mother. She wasnt at home but soto was. He ended up barricading himself and the child inside the apartment. Soto was not armed and he never made threats that would harm that he would harm the baby. Negotiators finally were able to get him out. Doesnt matter how long were out here. Thats what we want. We want to make sure the child was safe and get him in custody. Everyone walks away. Were happy. Soto walked out with the baby in a stroller. Police say he fed and changed the child throughout the standoff. Soto has been booked into jail on charges of suspicion of felony Domestic Violence and resisting arrest. A man accused of Holding People hostage in antioch is being held on 5 million bail. Prosecutors filed 16 charges against gutierrez. Investigators say he led officers on a chase wednesday before taking two people hostage at an arco gas station. The money raised going to the childrens miles an hour ak will network. After we inquired about the dunk tank, it was dismantled. The hotel said it was a nonprofit that booked the event. A teacher organizing the event says the school had been conserving water to offset the 450 gallons needed for the dunk tank. We came up with the idea from a business standpoint and from an environmental standpoint. I hope it turns out to be a good thing. Theres an 80 chance that el nino pattern will form bringing in rain in the months of october or november. But theres also the threat of flooding if the system brings too much moisture. When you get into situation like that where you days and weeks of rain flooding becomes a more of a probability and a likelihood. It depends on the duration and the intensity of the storms. A moderate el nino system is most likely to bring rain to southern california. If it strengthens further Northern California will enjoy a very wet winter. They claim six people died from overdoses on drugs traced back to the website. He claims to be a changed man. But the judge refused his plea for leniency. Besides the life sentence, the government says he owes them almost 200 million, which is the amount of money they say he laundered through silk road. His lawyers say they will appeal. Organizers of a San Francisco town hall meeting will show how a new city jail is a waste of time and money. The project is under way to replace the existing hall of Justice Building on bryant street. The no new coalition shows that only half of the jails capacity is used on any given day and most of those in the cells are there because they Coalition Members insist simple bail reform and Affordable Housing would make the new jail unnecessary. The town hall meeting begins at 2 00 this afternoon at the red stone pild building on 16th street. The navy finally turned over most of what it owns on Treasure Island to the city of San Francisco.
