Tomorrow. Breaking news this morning out of concord, where a woman and a baby have been killed in a car crash. It happened around 11 00 last night on willow pass road. Investigators say it appears an suv and a large sedan were traveling in opposite directions and crashed headon. A woman, believed to be the driver of one of the vehicles, died at the scene. Baby girl died shortly later at the hospital. Five other people were taken to hospitals with major injuries, but they are expected to survive. No word yet on what led to the crash. Developing news in antioch, one person is dead following a shooting. It happened on sycamore drive around 9 30 last night. Responding officers found a man on the ground who had been shot multiple times, he was pronounced dead at the scene there have been no arrests and the shooting remains under investigation. Also developing this morning, investigators are looking for people who might have been involved in an explosion and fire at an apartment complex in oakland. It happened on east 17th street, just before 11 00 last night. Fire crews arrived to find a small fire in the back unit of an Apartment Building. They were able to get the fire under control. In about 20 minutes. Authorities say an explosion of butane gas cannisters in the apartment may have caused the fire. The fire potentially was caused by butane cannisters in the Apartment Building that had exploded prior to our arrival and continued to explode while we were putting the fire out. I thought it was an earthquake at first. The whole place just shifted. Authorities say theyre looking for two people with possible burn injuries who were seen leaving the area. The fire is under investigation. Happening now more than one Million People are expected to descend on San Francisco for pride weekend. And the events kicked off last night. Abc7 News Reporter Sergio Quintana has more from San Franciscos castro district. The transgender parade has become the traditional kickoff of gay pride weekend. The mayor was among the city leaders to help send off the marchers. Our city has put the made sure we remembered the tnlbgt. This year organizers expect one Million People to circulate. Civic center preparations have begun. This marks 45 years since the stonewall riots in new york, an event accepted as the beginning of the gay rights movement. Another street riot is being commemorated. It started atop a police car on fire. They burned the news stand at the corner. Felicia was at the riot along with her friend, vicky marchlane. She said they fought back against police harassment. A portion of turk street was named after her friend, vickie, a longtime performer in the tenderloin who passed away in 2011. Im so excited that i got to live this. A name on the street, my best friend. And to see these young kids with their mothers. This is a big deal for a portion of the Lgbt Community that hasnt always been wellaccepted. Its inspirational. Especially hearing that you know, in the first pride marchs in San Francisco, even the gay men were throwing fruit at the transwomen. This is the first street in San Francisco named after a transgender person. Sergio quintana, abc7 news. Volunteers will install the Pink Triangle on twin peaks today. 175 bright pink canvass and thousands of steel spikes will be put into place, happening now actually started at 7 00, should take until about 10 00. It will be followed by a commemoration ceremony with city officials at 10 30. San Francisco Mayor ed lee is expected to attend. The Pink Triangle, which can be seen for miles away has been installed for each pride weekend since 1996. This years pride parade starts at 10 30 tomorrow morning at market and beale up to 8th street. More than one Million People are expected to turn out. The largest celebration of its kind in the united states. This years theme is color our world with pride. Facebook is celebrating pride weekend. The companys familiar thumbs up logo is now displayed on top of a rainbow background. The sign went up at facebooks memo Park Headquarters yesterday and the company decorated other parts of its campus ahead of pride weekend. It appears muni and its drivers may become close to a contract deal. Yesterday, the Operators Union announced that negotiators and the San Francisco Metro Transit Authority have reached an agreement. A dispute over a part of the contract that would force operators to pay part of their pension led to a worker sickout earlier this month. Details of the new agreement will be presented to Union Members on monday. Fireworks may to be blame for a fire that threatened homes in Castro Valley last night. The fire started just before 6 30 p. M. On lobart street near interstate 580. This is video from sky 7 hd. Neighbors said they heard explosions and saw something being thrown from the freeway. Fire Officials Say it was likely started by someone who tossed illegal fireworks into a back yard while driving on 580. Fortunately the fire was small and crews were able to put it out quickly. Legal fireworks have not even gone on sale yet, that has a lot of east bay residents worried. Abc7 News Reporter allen wong from dublin, where fireworks stands are preparing to open today. These tnt fireworks stands will be open on saturday. Nine of them in dublin. Nine in newark. Five in tracy and 17 of them in union city. Im not going to be buying any fireworks this year. Because i feel with the drought conditions, its really a hazard. And i dont actually know why towns are still allowing this to be done. Theres a lot of concern in these dry, hot regions in the east bay where grass fires have already been frequent. People are going to drink and then do something stupid. In dublin, police are hoping to confine the fourth of july celebrating to parking lots at four public parks. Anything that goes up in the sky and explodes is illegal. But dublins Police Department says it will have 13 extra officers on patrol on the fourth of july. And the Alameda County Fire Department is beefing up its force by 25 . In dublin, allen wong, abc7 news. Authorities say a stash of illegal fireworks found during a bust in Contra Costa County is about 1,000 pounds bigger than originally thought. Investigators now say they seized 3500 pounds of fireworks, they were brought in from indiana and were being sold on craigslist. The fireworks are estimated to be worth 80,000. Pittsburgh Police Arrested luis medina of crown point, indiana, Jose Hernandez of richmond and ivan medina of oakley. Fireworks will be especially dangerous this fourth of july because of the dry conditions. Thats why the oakland Fire Department is relieved the citys brownouts are going to end on july 1st. Brownouts are when fire stations temporarily close to save money. Oaklands fire chief says shes thankful because the department will need all its resources this summer. The state is taking steps to file more charges against forprofit Corinthian Colleges. Attorney general kamla harris wants a federal court to order Corinthian Colleges to tell Prospective Students about the companys poor financial health. Officials have been questioning quatala aboard the uss new york the navy ship that brought him to the united states. The search for a missing california firefighter is over. The body of 36yearold arcadia firefighter mike herdman was found by rescuers yesterday in rugged terrain in ventura county. He disappeared june 13th after chasing his dog while on a camping trip in a national forest. A helicopter search crew spotted herdmans body yesterday, noticing something that didnt belong in the very rugged terrain. His remains were partially covered by brush, 1200 feet above his campsite. We spent a good eight or nine days looking for mike. Were glad he was found. But at the same time, were sad that we lost a family member. No word yet on how herdman died. But Authorities Say theres no evidence of foul play. Jurors will return to deliberations on monday morning in the brian stowe civil trial.
