At the coast, under a clear sky. Inland, 70 degrees. And by the afternoon, we are just a few degrees warmer than we were yesterday for another sunny and mild day today, with a weak sea breeze. So a cool night ahead. The fog will be back through the overnight hours. But when will we see a change in this stagnant weather pattern . Ill have that for you with the accu weather sevenday forecast coming up. Katie . Lisa, thank you. We start with the latest on the b. A. R. T. Strike. This is the second day, and no talks are planned. B. A. R. T. Workers holding the picket line in oakland. Nick smith live at the lake merrit b. A. R. T. Station. Nick, whats the mood this morning . Reporter the mood has been consistent, katie. And i guess what i mean by that is, theyre committed to being out here for as long as they say it will take. You can see that they have held this line for now the second day. The unions are offering to call off the strike if b. A. R. T. Agrees to let an arbitrator decide the issues that are causing the stalemate. But b. A. R. T. Rejected that offer. Now, the issue is over workplace rules. For years, they have protected workers, but b. A. R. T. Says theyre outdated and is need to be changed to pay for salaries and benefits workers want. The unions say gutting the workplace rules would give b. A. R. T. Too much power. But unless b. A. R. T. Can gain that flexibility, it says that there is no deal. Now, caught in the middle of all of this are the commuters who are now struggling to find other ways in and out of San Francisco. Earlier, i had a chance to speak to a couple of commuters waiting in line to take the ac transit bus, because they would usually take b. A. R. T. But they cannot do that as long as there is a strike. Coming up at 8 30, you will hear from some of those commuters who are, again, caught in the middle and just trying to figure out the best way to get to and from San Francisco. We will continue to monitor this situation here at the lake merrit b. A. R. T. Station. But right now, katie, theyre not even scheduled to talk today. So we know that the strike will at least last through the day. At lake merrit b. A. R. T. , nick smith, abc 7 news. Not what commuters want to hear, certainly. Maybe theyre moving more smoothly but it was backed up the last hour or so. We spoke with frustrated commuters and how the strike is impacting traffic. This is a line of cars waiting to get to the bay bridge about 8 00. It was a crawl through city streets all afternoon and evening. From the center, it takes me about 35 minutes. Literally, two miles from here. Reporter and how long did it take you . About 45 to an hour. Reporter to avoid the traffic backup, lots of people tried getting out of the city early. With no b. A. R. T. Trains running, the afternoon commute turned into an evening odyssey. I can see the traffic from my office going over the bridge. It was moving. Its more just getting on to the bridge, which is what takes a lot of time. Reporter for casual carpoolers, the traffic made for really long waits to get home. Usually on a pretty decent day, its 30 minutes to get home so its usually not too bad. But doesnt look like its going to be 30 minutes today. Reporter plenty of drivers stopped by to pick up a few passengers going their way across the bay. But it wasnt easy for some to even get to the designated pickup spot. I went to the old carpool section, and some lady that was in a municipally thing directed us one block that way, further away from here. Reporter even a tourist bus rolled up to carry 25 commuters to the east bay. Time and time again, these carpool riders described a day that began very early, and then stretched on to late. But it will burn back later on this morning, bringing a sunny day at the shoreline. And its already nice and clear up in santa rosa. But, boy, is it foggy from Half Moon Bay, Golden Gate Bridge and across over into oakland. So from our east bay hills camera, you can see how shallow that fog is at 200 feet. It was at about 5, 600 feet earlier, so it continues to be pressed closer to the surface. And thats why the visibilities are really very dangerous out there this morning. Right along the coast. 48 in San Francisco. Good morning, oakland. It is 52 right now. So you are one of the milder locations. That doesnt change. We have been stuck in this weather pattern for quite some time. We will getoc just a little bitf a subtle change in the days ahead. Not much, though. So the fog pulls back this afternoon. Well still have a weak sea breeze. But turning sunny for everyone, that includes point rays, Half Moon Bay, pacifico, down the coast. And that allows for slightly warmer temperatures today. So well up into the 70s in the east bay and 80s returning out over the hills. So it has been High Pressure that has kept us high and dry. It continues to keep all of the west coast dry through oregon and washington and that quiet pattern really not going anywhere. So for the afternoon at about 3 00, we will see highs in the upper 70s for millipedis and 80 in santa clara, 81 in san jose. Well see you after that for after the game. Have a great weekend, everybody. Im larry beil. Lots of good games today. Decent weather later. Just got to get through this fog. Yeah, thats right. It is banked up along the coast. And, in fact, pretty dense, creating visibility problems from Half Moon Bay all the way up, really, to Washington State to the san mateo coast. So it is out there, and providing hazardous conditions. So be careful. But it will it clear, and we will look at temperatures today. Couple degrees warmer than we were yesterday. From our east bay hills camera, you can see how low and shallow that fog is. But it is quite dense, as its being pressed to the surface from higher pressure and temperatures cooling to the dew points this morning. 47, San Francisco. 50 in san jose. 52 los gatos, and Half Moon Bay, the exploratorium camera, a little bit of low cloudiness there. 38 in santa rosa with 45 in fairfield and 51 in the livermore valley. So heres a look at the visibility elsewhere around the bay. Were improving in oakland. Just last hour, we were down to less than a quarter of a mile. Now at 5 miles, still the coast is in really the pea soup there. Eight miles for livermore and san jose looking nice and sunny. The view from mt. Tam, you can see that the fog there is making for not only a little bit of a gray sky, but cool conditions. But that fog continues to clear to the coast today. So it will be mild there, like a summertime pattern. And warm conditions inland, with temperatures couple degrees warmer. So this pattern, we are locked in it, were looking for a few days of cooling next week. But its going to be very, very subtle changes. Were not looking at anything big, any storms on the horizon. So with High Pressure building into the eastern pacific, the weather is dry, all the way from washington, oregon, california and the storm track remains well to the north. So we should be looking about an inch of rain for october, and we have nothing in the forecast through next week. There is a system that will flirt with this by the middle of the week. You can see the average high, 74 in san jose. We continue to see very warm temperatures for this time of year. Then well drop off. Its a cutoff low. Doesnt look too promising to bring us any precip. And then youll notice into next weekend, still pretty mild. So in terms of high temperatures from north to south, theyre dealing with the dense fog. In southern california, look at that, how about 85 degrees today in los angeles. So warm from north to south. 77 in yosemite. And 69 in the northern sierra, with 70 at the coast in monterey. And we should be near that around Half Moon Bay today. San francisco, closer to the coast, 70. But towards the financial district, well be in the lower 70s. 76 for san mateo. Palo alto, 79. 82 in napa and more low to mid 80s in the east bay. So if you are headed to the pumpkin festival, look how sunny its going to be. By 9 00, we can breaking up into partly cloudy conditions and sunshine noontime, mid and upper 60s, 70s with light to moderate sea breeze and the accuweather sevenday forecast, changes monday and tuesday with a southern on shore push and by the end of the week, a few more clouds. Thats that weather system cooling us off and at this point looks like keeping the rain off shore. Well watch it for you. All right, lisa, thank you.
