There were 1,000 uniformed officers from all across the country here to accompany the hearse to a Memorial Service at the Concord Pavilion friday morning. It is with deep sadness, he a sense of honor to gather here today and pay tribute and celebrate the life and service of our brother mike. 60yearold Deputy Mike Foley served the community for 38 years with both the Concord Police department and Alameda County. As he walked in the santa rita jail parking lot last week he was struck by a bus and later died. He was a cops cop. Mike was oldschool. He became a mentor. Many said policing was in his dna. His father worked for oakland police, his brother with emeryville and now his son is studying criminal justice. If i could follow in his footsteps, and accomplish in my life half of what he accomplished in his, i would be ever grateful to the good lord above. And they were tributes to the family man. Following the twohour memorial, bay area Law Enforcement helicopters flew in a missing Man Formation over mt. Diablo. He was a hero in Law Enforcement. One lane of southbound 101 at embarcadero was closed since last night when a dump truck hit the north end of the overpass. Look at that. The driver dumped a load for a caltrans project and forgot to lower the truck bed. He suffered minor injuries. The impact caused a 27 foot crack in the structure. Caltrans crews have been working all day to chip off loose cement. We want to make sure we dont have any more loose concrete that could fall and damage a car and injure somebody.
