Reporter one girl stepped forward after her mother saw a questionable text. She reported it to the School District in october, 2014 he was allowed to continue teaching. The legal team says the two victims could have been spared if the victim had taken action th then. Now, today, District Attorney jeff rosen is putting in a bill to push for tougher legislation against Sexual Assault convictions. The victims emotionally charged 12 page impact letter. Santa clara County DistrictAttorney Says it started a revolution. Were hoping to change hearts, to change minds. And to change the laws to protect the next emily doe against the next brock turner. Reporter brock turner, the former stanford swimmer, convicted of Sexual Assault. The victim was unconscious from drinking too much at a party. The judge sentenced turner to six months, a sentence that angered victims groups and others. A sentence carries a mandatory prison sentence, when the victim is conscious. That is not the case when unconscious. Wed then have the same consequences for Sexual Assault of an unconscious person. Meaning mandatory prison. Reporter others want the judge removed from the bench. And others are going to the ballots to recall the judge. I think the answer is changing the judge. Reporter this petition supports the judge, saying removing him for a controversial sentence destroys judicial independence. Deputy public defender does not support the bill. He says he had a friend type up the statements but he says the sergeant is on administrative leave and the source believes opd is retaliating against him for filing a complaint in 2014 after repeating these racist texts.
