he pulled a woman over at 3:00 a.m. by sounding a siren and flashing a light. after showing her a badge he ordered her out, handcuffed skmer placed her in the back seeft his car he assaulted her after driving to a secluded area this, happened in the early morning of august 5th. the victim did not return it until several weeks late year police in the south bay use a series of gang sweeps to try to gain control of the soaring homicide rate in san jose. officers plan to keep pressure on gang members. abc 67 news is live at the police department with the story. >> there are police telling us the sweeps so successful, they'll continue them throughout the end of the year. but civil rights groups tell abc 7 news there are concerns over these sweeps. there are several hundred people demanding on end to the murder streak. police had taken giant steps to do just that. >> there are three day operations aimed at stopping the outbreak of gang violence. the spike in murders couldn't have come at a worse time. number of officer on the force at the lowest in years. the department was able to mobilize officers from numerous units and authorize overtime for cops for the sweeps. police officials say this paid off. officers arrested 26 gang members and confiscated two guns and knife autos we're confident the activity resulted in no homicides. >> there are eight killings during 11 days this month. and this is are gang members targeted because police say almost 40% of the killings are gang related. police say this is what they were doing when the department was at full force, being pro active area. you can see in this video how strong the waves are. there are 129,000 homes and businesses without power in louisiana. isaac is also pounding the coast, it's a category one hurricane with winds
