One person was killed after the fireball ride broke apart midair last night. Dramatic video captured by a bystander shows the ride swinging and spinning when it crashed into something. Part of the ride actually broke off. Several riders thrown into the air. Some of the victims landed on the ground. Seven people were taken to the hospital and three are in Critical Condition this morning. That ride goes up high into the air and it rotates passengers 13 times in just one minute. The ride goes really, really fast and goes in circles and it rocks right to left. And i heard a girl scream help, and i look over and i seen something fly out. And then i see this slap to the ground. They want to make sure its safe before they let riders back on. Theyre expected to do an inspection today. Santa cruz isnt the only place shutting down this ride, though. At the california state fair in sacramento, officials closed their version of the fireball last night. The ride is not exactly the same as the one in ohio, but theyre both manufactured by the same company in holland. Officials say independent inspections are done on the 100 rides at the state fair before it opens. They also do random spot inspections every day. However, after the incident in ohio, they just shut down their ride in sacramento. Not going to run in till they tell us what happened in ohio and the factory tells us its okay to operate. Californias Great America has a similar ride called delirium. Reached out to them to find out whether or not that ride will be open today and have yet to hear back. The Bay Area Siberian Husky Club says more people are getting huskies because of the show. A woman we spoke to adopted a palmsky, part pomeranian, part husky, because she knew she couldnt handle the husky. Others havent done the research. I wanted a husky from when i was a kid, but i wanted to name her stark. The martinez shelter has seen a jump of 300 in huskies since game of thrones started. The people we spoke to say these folks who want to adopt huskies, they dont know how strong these dogs are. Also, they need a lot of exercise. The husky club does have meetups and resources so you can make sure that a husky is right for you before adoption. It stuns me that the show is so influential on what people are wanting to go and get. Thats very interesting. Its a great show. So many people watching it, but it doesnt mean that it translate well into your lifestyle. You really need to do your research before adopting a dog.
