Southbound 680 just past sunol boulevard, somebody hit a large piece of debris and did a lot of damage and they are off on the shoulder now, and we could have debris scattered across the roadway. We have a couple miles of backup there. Definitely expect at least a fiveminute delay if you are traveling on 680 through the sunol area. A quick check of the bay bridge toll plaza, metering lights on this morning at 5 27, and thats better than the last couple mornings. It took a little while to fill in but it has at this point. You are slow through the maze at this point. No blocking issues for that bay bridge commute. Looking average. A quick look at drive times this morning. Southbound 101, santa rosa to San Francisco in the green at 58 minutes. And northbound 17, looking great if you are coming through the santa cruz mountains, and highway 1 to los gatos, just ten minutes. And then breaking news the end. Reporter we just watched the man that was barricaded inside this home, taken away in handcuffs and he was under arrest, and turns out he was the only one in this home. At one point they were making announcements for him and a woman to come out with their hands up, but i just confirmed with officers there was nobody else inside. The neighbor returning home, he had been evacuated and all the homes next to the house had been evacuated because of the tense situation, and he and his Young Children had to send the night outside the parameter and he said it was a long night and the keuids are exhausted and hes exhausted, and they heard a gunshot because of the argument between the two tphaeneighbors, nobody was hurt. He went inside and refused to come out. They brought in the s. W. A. T. Team and they were able to get him out. They told the rest of the neighborhood to shelter in place while this was happening. But now life can return to normal. I want to show you quickly before we let you go, the door, steve, if you would zoom into the message on the door to give you an idea of the person who lived here, and the attitude coming out of this home, no visitors, it says right there on the front door. We have had a lot of news this morning, and first we are going to start with breaking news that we are tracking in the east bay. A person is under arrest after an overnight standoff, and Amy Hollyfield is live. Amy. Reporter natasha, police tell me he did surrender, he peacefully gave up and police were able to take him into custody and we have video of him being handcuffed and being taken away. This happened within the hour, here on nottingham drive, and police tell us they have been to the house several times before in the past year for different types of disturbances and drugrelated issues. They do know this man and they are familiar with him. They say this time it all started over a fight between two neighbors, and they say the man who they arrested brought a gun to the fight, and the next door neighbor told us he heard and saw it all happen. He came out and fired his gun, and broke one of the windows of the house, and that was it, and the sheriffs game and took over from there. The next door neighbor and his small children had to be evacuated all night long, so that is we met with them as they were allowed back into their home and they said it was a long night and didnt get any sleep and now they have to get to work and school. This did end peacefully and thats the good news, and reporting live, Amy Hollyfield, abc7 news. We go to the south bay, and more breaking news there. San jose firefighters still on the scene of a fire on south white and story road, and thats where we find abc7 news reporter, matt keller. Reporter you get a better view of the damage that was done here at this abandoned Oreilly Auto Parts building here in east san jose. Firefighters will work on making sure that structure is safe, and they will put a fence around it and make sure nothing can collapse from the top of that building. South white road, there is traffic running in the northbound and southbound directions. And then several parts of the building have collapsed and firefighters got the call just after 3 00 a. M. From a Security Guard at the strip mall. Good news, this is a closed auto store, so all the flammable products were removed and there was no threat of the flames spreading. Homeless people sometimes sleep around the building, and an interesting note, we checked our o archives and found there was a fire in june and caused considerable damage to the inside and outside of the store and thats why the store was likely empty today. Billionaire and founder of the fox network, roger ailes has died. He was 77 years old. It was Just Announced by his family about 45 minutes ago, and ailes wife saying she is deeply saddened and called her husband a patriot. And big faces from fox news taking to social media, and hannity saying ailes was like a father after i lost my father, and i am forever grateful. Ailes left fox last july amid sexual allegations. Senate about the firing of fbi director, comey. The deputy general has been under intense pressure to recuse himself from the investigation. He became involved in the political fight over why comey was fired. Questions arose as whether rosenstein was independent of the white house. And then both sides of the aisle are praising the Justice Department to appoint mueller into the lead investigation into the Trump Campaign and its collusion with russia. Mueller will have all of the authority of the u. S. Attorney including the ability to take the matter before a grand jury. Over Sight Committee says mueller is a great investigation but feels his investigation is premature. I dont know a special counsel is warranted. I have not seen direct evidence of a actual crime and i believe the career officials at the fbi are true prau fiofessionals and done a great job and should be allowed to do that job. And trump is calling the investigation a taxpayer funded charade and denies any collusion. Mueller worked as of law school here San Francisco. He left the bay area in 82 and came back in 98 as the u. S. Attorney for the Northern District of california. He resigned his position at a d. C. Law firm as soon as he was appointed as special counsel yesterday. I want to jump in at the live desk where i am tracking investor reaction to the white house crisis. The new york stock exchange, you see its up four points now, but it has been down when it first opened and now its starting to be in the green. Yesterday the dow closed down 370 points and thats the worst day since september of last year, and the nasdaq and s p 500 had big losses also, so we will watch throughout the day. And then investigating the cause of a twoalarm fire at a vacant home. Firefighters were able to control the flames and keep that fire from spreading to other homes. It was a busy night for vallejo firefighters. A few hours earlier they knocked down a twoalarm fire on new castle drive. This is a picture firefighters put out of the scene. The red cross is helping three people displaced by that fire. And then lawyers for the mannequman convicted of killing the morgan hill team that could spare their client from the death penalty. And just last week, the officer had given false testimony in another murder trial. And now they are hoping to use those findings to discredit the detectives testimony. This comes as lamars parents are set to testify today in the penalty phase. Yesterday we heard from lamars sister about what she would say if she could speak to sierra one more time. I would tell her how much i love her and how proud of her i was, and, you know, how much of an affect she made on everyone she met. Two of sierras friends and a teacher testified about her ability to make people life and to share herself confidence with others. A soil analysis found the ground under the school could liquefy in a big earthquake causing the school to collapse and other reports dispute those findings. The board is expected to vote on the closure on tuesday, and if it decides to followthrough with it, lum will close in two weeks on the last day of school. Detroit police are investigating cornells death as a suicide. He was found by a friend in the bathroom of his hotel room after his wife asked a friend to check on him. Orvilles damaged spillway is shutting down for summer repairs. Crews drained the dam to make room for nearby melting snow impacts. And after the closure the department of Water Resources will work full time to fill the massive sinkhole that formed in february. And then a meeting for San Carlos Airport users and those that live nearby, and they are hoping to share ideas for reducing aircraft noise generated by the airport.
