Happening right now in the east bay, a major water main break has left homes and apartment complexes flooded this morning. Crews have been racing to get a hole in the street filled. They have patched and filled the hole and repaved it after a long night of work, but so theyve wrapped up here on Black Diamond street but it left behind a lot of damage. The 12inch water main broke at 9 45 last night. Crews worked all night on this situation. Water flooded this neighborhood. The main broke on Black Diamond street but homes on 10th and 11th streets were flooded. Water flooded basements in four homes. There was also about a foot of water in two apartment complexes. Residents say it was just awful. People had to be evacuated. My neighbors who just brought me food are completely flooded out. Everything is ruined. Crews have restored Water Service to the area. No one was hurt when this happened. So, now, its all about the cleanup, which must begin this morning. Thank you, amy. Hang today, a much anticipated public hearing in san jose to review the citys response to massive flooding from coyote creek. Thousands of residents were caught by surprise by that largescale flooding two weeks ago. San jose took some time issuing an evacuation order. In fact, it took four hours and by that time, rock springs was already submerged. Accountability for putting lives in jeopardy is expected to come up at that hearing, along with the citys reliance on the internet and social media to push out the alerts. The meeting is going to be held today at 3 00 at San Jose City hall. Chipotle restaurants across san jose are holding a fundraiser today for flood victims. Stretch of sir Francis Drake boulevard in marin is back open after being closed by a mudslide. The slide happened early yesterday morning. Its not the first problem in this area. After nearly 18 hours of debate, a house ways and Means Committee approved the measure. Heading into this allnighter, House Speaker paul ryan said he had no doubt his bill would pass. San Francisco City attorney Dennis Herrera is asking a federal judge to halt enforcement. The order threatens to withhold federal funds to communities that bar police from enforcing immigration laws. He argues it tramples on state sovereignty and exceeds the ppresident s authority. He also says the order is so vague, cities dont really know how much money they might lose. The judge is expected to consider an injunction. San francisco is among about ten sanctuary cities in the bay area. A plea from city leaders in San Bernardino to President Trump is stirring anger this morning. Theyre asking him for help in fighting crime. The city had a Record Number of homicides last year and is emerging from bankruptcy. The mayor, city council, and police chief sent a letter to the white house to ask for help. It was sent, though, without public input. Now critics are threatening to sue. Uc Berkeley Police are warning students about an Armed Robbery inside of a campus dorm yesterday. Sigh 7 was over the scene on durant and college avenues yesterday afternoon as officers were looking for that suspect. Police sent out a tweet telling students to shelter in place as they searched. Officers never did find the man. No word on what that suspect got away with, if anything. In San Francisco, police are looking for two men they say robbed a woman and her 1yearold daughter at gunpoint. It happened friday night. Police just released this Surveillance Video to us showing those suspects. They robbed this woman inside the parking garage of a complex on florida street in the mission. Police say they were after her car. One of the suspects pointed a gun at them and the other suspect grabbed the baby from the vehicle, hanging on to the baby and basically ended up taking one of her bags from the vehicle. The baby wasnt hurt. Police say the victim is a single mom, an army veteran. She had just taken money out of the bank to buy a cake for her daughters birthday. Oakland city council is approving a revised plan requiring anyone who owns and operates and Legal Marijuana business to live in the city. Tuesday nights vote overhauled legislation on how cannabis businesses will be regulated in oakland. Half of all new permits will be issued to neighborhoods hardest hit by the war on drugs, including those with a pot conviction in the last two decades. A chance encounter on a rain slicked highway has made two strangers as close as mother and daughter. 19yearold antonetta roman really went through a lot. She doesnt remember much about a january night when she crashed on highway 80 in fairfield. She got out of her car to check on the other driver involved in that crash and she got hit by a third car. Fortunately, this woman, sissy horn, a total stranger, also driving on the highway at the time, stopped. All i could think was, run, get to her. I looked down and she looked up, and our eyes met, and she said, i want my mom. Thats a special lady right there. Sissy and antonetta have become best friends. Sissy was at the hospital every day as antonetta underwent 11 surgeries, including a partial amputation of her right leg. They both say their unexpected friendship was meant to be. Its an incredible story. The federal Communications Commission says it will investigate why some at t customers were not able to call 911 from their cell phones for about an hour and a half last night. At t has not said if it knows exactly what caused the outage. Stacey pierce was taken off life support and died tuesday night. Her mother, her stepfather, and a family friend also died in the february 27 crash.
