Aquatic park connected to the square and the wharf is not a place where police tend to see a lot of violent crime. 20yearold calvin riley was doing what a lot of young people do these days. He was playing pokemon go on his phone. He was with a friend saturday night and they joined up with another group of people who were also playing the game. A close family friend told me that riley went around a corner to catch a pokemon but there was someone on the other side with a gun. From what we know there is no confrontation. There was nothing said back and forth. It was just senseless. Just came up, shot him in the back and ran away for nothing. Reporter riley graduated from Serra High School in san mateo. In a statement the Athletic Director says riley will be greatly missed. He was a dedicated and successful studentathlete and a kind, respectful, and thoughtful person. Baseball was his passion. He really loved the game. Riley was pitching for San Joaquin Delta college. I spoke to his coach there. He told me there this is a huge loss for everyone and called riley a great competitor. The person responsible for that shooting still on the loose this morning as well. Someone shot the teen several times on muir street saturday night. A second 17yearold boy as well as 18yearold man were wounded in the shooting. Both are expected to survive. Happening today, former dog groomer charged with an mule cruelty after the death of a dog under his care is scheduled for his preliminary hearing. In april 38yearold juan zarate was grooming a dog at a san Mateo Petsmart where he worked. After three minutes in his care police say the dog was bleeding from his mouth and having trouble breathing. The dog died with punctured lung and two broken ribs. Zarate pleaded not guilty. Three children remain in sf generals intensive care unit recover frgs eating what may have been drug laced candy at a party. In all, 19 people got sick at a quinceanera saturday night. He died at the schlitterbahn kansas city water park yesterday afternoon during a family trip. He was riding this slide. Its named the verruckt. 17 stories tall and known for reaching speeds of up to 45 miles per hour. And there were concerns it went too fast before the slide opened to the public. Engineers had to slow it down. Brought tears to my eyes that someone else lost their child thats my childs age. That im sure they felt was safe. Reporter height requirement on the slide of 54 inches. Good news when you consider all the problems that delta had overnight. So thats the good news here in san jose, minneapolis have closed. That means theyre about to take off soon. We now know that he just graduated in H High School two months ago. This was his very first jump. He was with an instructor but their chute didnt deploy. Both men died. The centers owner says the instructor was a veteran skydiver with more than 700 jumps under his belt. The faa is investigating what went wrong. New details in the sex investigation involving a young woman and several Bay Area Police departments. In a letter to city leaders Richmond Police chief alan brown says several officers likely violated the departments pool poll si but they dont seem to have broken any laws.
