Developing news out of the east bay this morning. Police are still looking for a plan who shot and killed a man on a bart train at the west oakland station. It happened just before 8 00 last night. Witnesses dell us the victim was sitting next to the trains car door. To he was shot just before the train stopped. The shooter ran as soon as the doors opened. Abc7 News ReporterSergio Quintana has the details. You. As police were piecing together exactly what happened, we noticed a commotion at the bus stop just yards away. We watched as police took a man into custody nearly two hours before the brutal shooting on this train. Its not clear if he was a suspect. But we watched as he was searched and put into a waiting patrol car. Witnesses say the shooter may have boarded the train at rockridge or the west oakland station and just before exiting the train he pulled out a gun. I looked you, there was a pop. He had his happened down shooting. Up there two or three more shots, the door opened and he split. He was shot twice in his torso. In his chest and in his stomach. You saw the torso. And he is dead. One of the people who helped but didnt want to be interviewed on camera said hes a registered nurse. He immediately began performing cpr. He said the victim had a knife in his hand, but none of the people aboard the train car said they noticed anything odd between the two men and didnt even notice them talking to each other. Sergio quintano reporting. The shooting investigation caused delays throughout the system, including at the embarcadero station in San Francisco. This weekend catching an uber ride is a little bit cheaper. The Ride Sharing Company lowered prices by 10 in San Francisco, while cities in the east bay and south bay are getting a 20 cut. An uber spokesperson said this is the slow season so the company is dropping fares to try to lure more riders. This was not the first time uber has cut prices. We are tired of the fair cuts. Today uber cut the fares again for the third time in over two years. We are down to 1. 15 a mile in the bay area. Uber did not have a comment about that protest yesterday. The new fare prices will be in effect indefinitely. Fares are going up starting today on sam trans. San mateos Public Bus Service is raising fares from two dollars to two twentyfive. Sam trans is also adding ways to improve service and dropping the price of youth passes. A Santa Clara County is look into problems in the county jail. A panel was in the county for a meeting. For the first time their discipline system was made public. 86 deputies at the jail have been disciplined since 2010. 60 were either fired or suspended. Looks like the ceilings want to lift temporarily but we will look at a mostly cloudy sky today with afternoon showers 3 00, 4 00. Tonight a weak stempniak bumps into that ridge. Still could see a few light showers into your monday morning commute but most likely a couple while you are sleeping and thats about it. The more significant chance of rain comes our way late tuesday into wednesday. That stempniak could be a number 2 on our storm impact scale. 1 00 this afternoon we are looking at rain showers beginning to move on to the coast, and by 3 00, 4 00, we have a narrow band of warm frontal light rain headed our way. And the rainfall amounts once again anywhere from about a tenth of an inch. Barely there. And beyond that weve got another mild evening in store with the cloud cover. So heres our next stempniak. Just pushes through that ridge. Maybe a couple showers. And by 5 00 in the morning you will notice that we have a lot of cloud core. We will call it mostly cloudy monday and tuesday. But their families heard about a contest being sponsored by clorox and another Bay Area Company called chroma that pioneered a unique set of lens lenses that restore the correct balance of red and greens, which get blurred together by deformities in a colorblind persons eye. We do this by creating a filter that goes in and carves out certain wave lengths of light. It separates those photo pigments back to where they should be. The lifechanging power caught the attention. , the attention. Clorox. The Company Offered up 10,000 to help distribute the glasses to Young Students suffering from colorblindness. That grant helped fund the online video contest. Kids were asked to dream up an invention they would like to build themselves and submit a video describing it. 75 winners were chosen to receive a set of chroma lenses.
