Ridership may have set a record. How long have you been in line . Oh, i dont even know. Probably an hour, maybe longer. Where did you get in line . Around eighth street. Reporter some people lost their patience. This argument caused several people to be temporarily booted from the line by sheriffs deputies. Three hours of long lines proved to be too much for some riders so they turned to this superhero driver and others. Taxis, uber and lift cars shuttled people down the peninsula. This couple called in their daughter for a ride. We were expecting to take the train. We had tickets and i bought ticket, but theres no way im waiting in that. Just after the parade. Street sweepers and brooms and on wheels moved in fast to clean up streets. Confetti was everywhere including power lines around Market Street. Union employee his to clear the lines by hand before street cars and busses could resume service. The rush did end, and even in front of city hall is nearly all dismantled. Heres what users saw. Just a blue dot on the mobile devices. Uber reported an outage at 6 30 last night and even if fans were able to get a ride it cost them four times the normal rate because of surge pricing. There were a lot of kids at the victory parade even though it was a school day. More than 11 of students took the day up. Thats up from about 7 on an average day. District officials tell us the majority of those absences were high school students. For those who went at that time parade it was quite an experience. Two men are being treated for severe burns when their walnut creek apartment exploded. It happened not far from the Pleasant Hill bart station. Police say the men turned their unit into a lab to make hash oil. As abc 7 News Reporter alan wang explains, about 50 people had to be evacuated. Id just gotten out of the shower and all i heard was a huge boom and looked out my front door and saw that thing in flames. Melanie mcdonald is one of several residents trying to get back into their homes after this walnut creek apartment blew up. The explosions were caught on this cell phone camera. It kept going off over and over again. Kind of these fireballs kept going up. The impact blew out windows across the street. Four units were destroyed. Eight others are uninhabitable for now. Trickortreaters walked by the horrific site while crews stabilized what was left for the apartment. I saw him in flames, screaming. Reporter richard greenblat said he saw one of two men who occupied the unit that exploded. Both were critically burned while using hundreds of volatile butane canisters to turn marijuana into hash oil. This has become the new drug of recent choice. The costumed girls all ages 13 were crossing the street in santa ana when their driver slammed right into them. Police say the car was going at a high rate of speed in a 12 mile per hour school zone. Police found the vehicle just a few blocks away. A witness said three men a handoned it and took off running. The chp officer accused of stealing racy photos from a womans cell phone while she was in custody has resigned. A source with the chp has confirmed to abc news that Sean Harrington no longer works with the agency. The contra costa agency filed two incidents for incidents involving two different women in august. Investigators made a surprise discovery when they searched the home of a man accused of taunting a chp officer. Youtube video shows about 50 motorcycle stunt riders taunting the officer in milpitas. 32 gerardis who allegedly took the video was arrested on wednesday and charged with two felonies. When officers searched his home in brentwood they found 90 Marijuana Plants and a loaded rifle. Investigators say they will now pursue additional charges. Alameda county prosecutors have dismissed charges against one of the suspects in septembers arson fires in alameda. The d. A. s office announced it didnt have enough evidence to support charges against Stephen Peterson who was released from jail two weeks ago. Prosecutors will move forward. 22yearold andrew gutierrez. Hes the man seen in the Surveillance Video taken the night of the fires. They include charges filed against peterson. Um, yes. Why do you ask . Well, if youre covered by either an individual or Small Business Health Insurance plan this prop would change who gets to approve future insurance rate changes to your plan. How so . Californias insurance commissioner whom we elect would now have to sign off and approve Health Insurance rate changes like he does for car and homeowner insurance. The Health Care Industry doesnt want this extra layer of approvals. If passed this prop would allow anyone from the public to challenge rate increases, too. Opponents of this is a this will negatively impact the ability of the new Healthcare Exchange covered california to bargain on rates with insurance companies. Supporters say thats nonsense and that this prop would help control Health Insurance rate increases. Voting yes means rates for individual and small group Health Insurance would need to be approved by the insurance commissioner before taking effect. Voting no means state regulators would continue to have the authority to review, but not approve rates for individual and small group Health Insurance. We still have some rain and pretty good rain just south of the city, but most of the north bay will be much quieter and live doppler 7 hd shows some pretty active swells in south of the city and if you look at the 280 sign west and south of that, and Half Moon Bay, highway 1 and thats where were looking at some development for heavy showers and you can see them. Theyve been with us all morning long south of here around davenport and santa cruz. Heres Half Moon Bay and look at that, the yellow and red. This is all moving to the east slowly so we will look for a soggy start on the peninsula. Higher elevations of the east bay and theyve had continuous shower activity as well as santa druz and a break now by davenport and take a look by watsonville and salinas. Some of this heavier and youll notice down the Central Coast youre looking at activity through the Sacramento Valley and marysville through the San Joaquin Valley and were looking at a rain snow mix now around truckee and blue canyon and the Higher Elevations anywhere from a half inch to a foot of snow and the winter storm warning will continue for the next couple of hours and it should expire by 11 00 with an additional four inches. Here is the way it looks in the Higher Elevations right now and its a bonus to see this snow in late october and early november. 52 in san jose and with the rain closer to home, and were not looking at any fog. We have a good view right now with temperatures in the mid50s, but up in the north bay with breaks in the cloud cover. Boy, has it gotten chilly with mid40s, santa rosa and 45 in petaluma and 53 in livermore and it is much, much cooler this morning with temperatures from 5 to 15 degrees colder with the partly cloudy skies up north. More cloud cover here and thats why were not as cool, but still looking at know unstable atmosphere and scattered showers throughout the day, mainly in the Early Morning hours to the early afternoon. The possibility of a thunderstorm and then well look at conditions getting dryer throughout the day. Today we gain an hour, overnight tonight as we set our clock back at 2 00 a. M. And well gain an hour of sleep and that will be the trend for much of the workweek. So with that system moving through, weve got the large northwesterly swells entering monterey bay and much of the Central Coast. So strong rip currents sneak away as the possibility yesterday and the front moves through anywhere from a quarter of an inch up in the north bay to over a half inch and we still have more to come in the Santa Cruz Mountains and the Central Coast as this cold, upper level low rotates through and keeps the atmosphere unstable and well prime it with some sunshine and thats where well see the flareups throughout the early afternoon and youll notice through the Higher Elevations at east bay, you could see a shower or thunderstorm. Two to four inches of snow around 7 clouz feet and the snow levels will continue to rise throughout the afternoon as that winter storm warning expires. 64 in san mateo and 63 in richmond with temperatures along the coast and pretty soing ney santa cruz. The accuweather sevenday forecast will warm it up and tomorrow will be dry and temperatures will be in the low 70s by monday. Dead center, birdseye view, not too high so you feel like youre still a part of it with the rose open and the music blaring. As the commoners squeezed up against each other, the employees at the liftopia, the discount website opened their doors for a few guests and served up the refreshments. And many holding up the hunter pence signs. Its probably good he was up on that double decker bus. Liftopias ceo remembers what it was like to watch. I couldnt get from ten rows from the front. A Remarkable Museum in poland opened to the public with enormous help from the bay area man. Its a 200,000 square foot museum that is very different from any other youve ever visited and its the culmination of a bay area mans lifetime of giving back. Images still as haunting today as when the world first saw them six decades ago. Hitlers nazi solution. The death machine for more than 6 million jews. Nowhere was the plan more devastating than in poland. 90 of the Jewish Population eliminated. Ted towby was born in krakow, escaping the holocaust, but many in his family did not. He went to school in stan terrored and build a successful real estate business. Turning to philanthropy. Hes been part of a massive project to tell the other side of the story about polish jews. Why has it been so important for you, ted, to be so involved in this so directly. I think the history of how jews lived for a thousand years prior to the holocaust is virtually unknown and we felt that thats a very, very important story to tell. To tell that story, the museum of the history of polish jews, a stateoftheart facility that sits on the site of the warsaw ghetto where hundreds of thousands of jews were forced to live before being taken to the death camps. I visited those camps nine years ago with several bay area Holocaust Survivors including linda broader who spent three years at the notorious auschwitz. 60 years after she walked out of auschwitz, she walked in again with me. When you stand here with me now 60 years later, do images, emotions race through your mind . I have no emotions here. No emotions here . No e motions here. Later in our trip, understandab understandably, the emotions came. We stayed in touch until lindas death a few years ago. I saw with my own eyes how jews were killed, but what youre saying is this museum is about how jews lived long before the holocaust . Thats right. Thats exactly correct, and its a very, very important history because during that thousandyear period, most of the elements of western culture evolved reporter today poland is becoming a different place. The museum telling the world of the revival of jewish life in a country that became a graveyard for millions. Comprised of eight salons, the museum takes visitors from the different period of jewish life in poland. When people see this museum, what do you hope they will walk away with . First, i think first and foremost, theyre going to walk away with a much deeper understanding of what jewish people globally are all about. I think the first reaction is almost stunned because youre so saturated with things that one never knew about. The museum expects to attract a million visitors a year from around the world and many will come from this country whereas many as 80 of all jews have polish ancestry. Federal regulators are accusing at t mobility of not giving millions of customers the unlimited data plan they purchased. 7 on your sides Michael Finney reports on the first of its kind lawsuit filed by the federal trade commission. Reporter the numbers in the eyes of consumer advocates are staggering. 3 point 5 million individual customers have been throttled by at t more than 25 million times. Matthew gold is the federal trade Commission Attorney who filed the case in San Francisco. They are promising unlimited data to their smartphone customers and not providing the unlimited data that they promised. At t did not agree to go on camera, but by email its Senior Vice President and general counsel told 7 on your side we informed all unlimited data Plan Customers via bill notices and a National Press release that resulted in nearly 2,000 news stories well before the program was implemented. In addition, the program has affected only about 3 of our customers, but the ftc says the language was not understandable and that at t failed to disclose the thresholds of which people would be throttled. Most important says, gold, was the timing of at ts disclosures. They havent done the single thing that they should have done which was tell consumers at the point of sale that they were going to be throttled. The San Francisco bays Electronic Frontier foundation applauded the lawsuit and questions how at t goes about throttling. At t is throttling regardless of whether or not the cell site youre connected to is congested. Its just saying youve used so much data and well throttle you. At t called the lawsuit baseless and says its practices are fully transparent. At t discontinued its unlimited data plan in 2011. The 14 million customers currently on the plan were grandfathered in. Highway 1, we are getting wet this morning and well get in closer just west of 280, south of Half Moon Bay and north of pescadero. Getting wet around wedwood city and stanford. And lighter rain from san jose, evergreen and the hills of los altos and further south, this is where the rain has been concentrated from salinas and watsonville. Very heavy downpours, but we still have active weather offshore and this will continue to rotate through. You notice just a few showers around the Central Coast. The main activity just offshore here and then weve got the front just paralleling the Sierra Nevada. Weve got the snow still going about an inch in yosemite for the southern sierra, but in the northern sierra, were still looking at an additional perhaps half a foot, two to four inches and the snow levels at 6500 feet and rising throughout the day with the winter storm warning through 11 00 this morning. So here is a look at about 8,000 feet. 57 right now in oakland. Its 52 in san jose. A much cooler morning behind the front and the good visibility here, but we are still looking at a soggy part of the day perhaps in San Francisco. Look at the number, though, down to 41 degrees in petta lo aluma things have bottomed out in the north bay and were looking at numbers anywhere from 8 degrees cooler in san jose. Nine degrees cooler than yesterday morning in san carlos and the coast is cool, but look at santa rosa, you are 15 degrees cooler than you were yesterday this morning. Still lit up in orange this early november morning. Well be looking at scattered showers throughout the day today. A possibility of a thunderstorm. This should shift south of San Francisco, so more of a possibility for you along the san mateo coast and well look at the time change tonight as you set your clocks back and waking up to more sunshine, tomorrow and milder conditions. Not only for the second half of the weekend, but for the week ahead.
