From another Vantage Point it is breezy early and lowtomid 70s and nearly 70 at the coast. Hold on to the steering while. Good morning, everyone, we have gusty conditions and i get to that in a moment. We have street closing in San Francisco because of the fire at 4th street at mission bay boulevard. Avoid that area. Muni is not affected. Normal schedule with. K. T. Line. 5 Miles Per Hour is the top speed on 101 morning and southbound. The east bay, though, tracy to dublin is 44 minutes westbound direction and highway four is loading up and 101 is busy from suspect ralph to San Francisco. Heaterring lights are turned on and traffic now is backed up out of maze. We start with continuing coverage of our developing news of a huge fire in San Franciscos mission bay main. You can see the scene yesterday at the height of the flames with firefighters staying on the scene all night in case the destroyed condo building up construction collapsed and that is a worry. We have to worry about the embers and we are waiting for an update from the fire chief in San Francisco and the mayor lee which will come in the next hour abc7 News ReporterKatie Marzullo is at the scene. I have come from inside talking with the chief right now about the firefight and she says there hotspots. You can see the water being sprayed. There are hotspots and the flames are behind where there have been glass windows installed. In the spots where the glass windows are in place this is containing the hot spots. There are five engines and five ladder trucks. They will spray water on the hotspots until there are no more. No telling when that will be. The fire broke out around 5 00 and the construction workers left at 4 00 so they were not hurt. The fire was massive with flames shooting 50 to 100 in the air and parts of the building falling away. Collapse is the concern. Many portions have collapsed, but they have collapsed inward and imploded. We do not have suppression efforts in the collapse zone which is away from that area. The battalion chief says the collapsed zone is in place so they still have evacuations and we have watched and she has founded same thing. Construction workers are showing up and being turned away if their sites are in the collapsed zone. Last night the heat mandated everyone to stay away and now it is the collapse and the winds. The chief is saying the wind can fuel the hotspots that are still inside the building. And now abc7 News Reporter matt keller has the impact on the neighbors would had to leave their homes. We have had people locking what is going on with the hotspots. We saw flames coming off the build behind where they are putting water on the building. They were concerned for the apartments cross the street being in that collapse zone. Hundreds were ever advantage bitted yesterday including the entire east side of 4th street between mission rock and china basin streets and one resident watched from his Mission Channel apartment and the fire got worse before it got better. I am not terribly inconvene conferenced. They have opened up a channel on 3rd street. The biggest concern is a lot of construction is happening here so i would like to find out what happened and make sure it doesnt happen again. Salvation army and red cross opened a shelter but no one showed up and many people say they were staying with friends and family and they served, though, 800 meals to emergency workers and many of the side streets are open to pedestrians but the cars are not allowed . Some spots especially here on 4th street as they continue to put water on the building and we are going to keep updated and get that update from firefighters and police at 7 00.
