Yesterday a judge granted jahi mcmaths family a temporary restraining order to keep the eighth grader on life support, at least through the weekend. Jahi went into cardiac arrest and declared brain dead by the hospital december 12th after a routine con sylectomy went morefully wrong. The judge said they can obtain an independent medical examination. We are happy to cooperate with the judges instruction that an independent expert be provided to confirm once again that brain death is the outcome that has occurred here. One pulled out a gun and shot the other. The shooter drove off in a white compact vehicle. A man was taken to the hospital with no lifethreatening injuries. Bart and its two biggest unions have reached a tentative agreement on its dispute over paid family leave. The two groups spin the lift month trying to resolve the dispute. It involves six weeks of paid family leave included in the tentative agreement reached in october. The bart director said that provision was left in by mistake and the unions filed a lawsuit after management accepted the contract, minus the provision. In a press release issued this morning, they said the sides reached a tentative agreement and that includes expansion of barts bereavement policy and more flexibility on how families pay costs for family medical leave. The paid leave was taken out of the contract. And bart management say they have been adamant in their admission of a mistake in how they handled the situation. In the past few days weve had the opportunity to have meaningful discussion and resolve some of our differences at the bargaining table. Last year gridlock in congress forced mr. Obama to return to washington the day after christmas. The president is scheduled to be in honolulu through january 5th. For those forced to cancel their plans because of the new law, the president said they will be covered with barebones catastrophic insurance policies until they can enroll in new plans.
