Satellite not seeing any returns there. As we take a look, well we do have some snow expected in the sierras. Thats where were seeing a winter advisory and well get to that in just a little bit. Right now from our kgo roof camera you can see beautiful Clear Conditions out there. Towards the pay bridge. For the most part it will be on the chilly side to get you going this morning. Heres a look at traffic where we have a couple of problems. The first one is at the caldicott tunnel. We have emergency crews who are headed out there now. Most likely in the eastbound direction to get to this accident. Youll see activity in both directions, both east and westbound. We have a couple of crashes reported out here in san jose. Northbound 101 at 280. A solo vehicle spinout. The 280, 680 split. As you continue well see some slow and go traffic there. A report of a threecar crash at story. Then it all opens up as you get closer to the san jose airport. Well have more of that coming up but for now chris and eric over to you. Developing news in San Francisco where police are investigating the suspicious death of a 7monthold baby. Amy holifield is live where investigators have been going in and out all morning. Amy. Reporter eric, investigators are still here. If you take a look at the home while were on the air, you might see an officer or two pop out, take some pictures, walk back in. Weve seen them in different rooms. Theyve been here for a while at least a couple of hours. We are here on montery at acadia. You might be seeing this man come out from upstairs. That is a different unit. So he is does not live in the home where police are investigating. You can see that female officer, she is investigating where they think the baby died which is in this bottom unit. What happened was at about 12 30 this morning a woman showed up at San Francisco General Hospital with her baby her infant, and were told that that baby did die. The medical examiner then got involved and declared that the death looked suspicious and so called in police. Police are still conducting their investigation. They are working on it right now. At this point they say it is too early to say what they think happened but they are here trying to figure it out. Live in San Francisco Amy Holifield, abc 7 news. Developing news right now in San Francisco where police are looking for whoever was in a car when it rolled into the Twin Peaks Reservoir and caught fire. Authorities say the car was on twin peaks boulevard and rolled down the hillside to Christmas Tree point road at the reservoir around 4 00 this morning. No sign of a driver or any passengers so police and fire crews are now bringing in extra equipment to light up the hillside to see if they can find anyone who may have been thrown from the vehicle. New this morning, authorities are investigating a fire in the aptof hills area of Santa Cruz County overnight. It broke out before 1 15 this morning on redwood drive. At least two homes and an outbuilding were destroyed. Another home was damaged along with some grass. The union did not issue a 72 hour strike. The unknown is still making people a little anxious. They left the negotiating table last night at 9 00 with the promise to be back. 60 day cooling off period ends at midnight friday morning while publicly expressing optimism. That includes chartering 200 buses to carry riders from the east bay. It will double the use in july. One rider we spoke with wants to see a deal but is still making it. I would like to see them set zbll is there anxiety from not knowing whats happening . Yeah. Yeah. Because im going to stay at my friends house if they do this. I dont have to get over to hayward or whatever. Reporter the Bay Area Council is preparing for the worst. The four day strike cost 73 million a day in lost productivity. If the strike does take place, the Bay Area Council is encouraging businesses to let employees work from home use flex time or take vacations. Negotiations are scheduled to resume this morning. According to the wall street journal the pilots told the ntsb that the auto controls disconnected without warning before the plane hit a seawall near the runway. Dudley brooks sent out a letter looking for a nationwide search expecting to take seven months. It will be managed with a professional recruitment team. The federal Government Shutdown now in day eight and while some workers are still being furloughed, some are already getting the call back to their jobs. The federal afviation administration is recalling several employees. More than 15,000 faa workers were taken off the job because of the shutdown. The Nuclear Regulatory Commission Says it expects to furlough some 3900 employees by thursday if no deal is struck between the president and congress. We saw some temperatures stay pretty much the same between sunday and monday in some parts of the bay area but definitely by today you should feel the chill on your skin. Certainly if you are in the northern part of the bay area, such as nevada petaluma, waking up into temperatures in the 40s, and certainly in the south bay as well. We also have a chance of some rain visiting us late on wednesday, but really the real story, its going to be in the sierra where we have a winter storm advisory. First taking a look at our live Doppler Radar, Clear Conditions. No cloud cover just some patchy coastal fog. But really a trough of low pressure bringing in this cool air mass thats going to be visiting us for the next couple of days and as we focus in you can see how thats going to cause some cooler breezes and certainly cooler temperatures. This is whats going to happen in the sierra. We can expect to see 2 to 5 inches of snow. Very gusty conditions. 50mileperhour winds. That will last between tomorrow morning and thursday morning for 24 hours. Around the bay, our highs going to top out just under 80 degrees. 79 degrees in fairfield and antioch. If youre going to be in the south bay in san jose, 74 degrees will be your high. 72 in san mateo along the peninsula. 68 degrees will be your high. 78 in napa. 75 in santa rosa. Our overnight lows, chilly and thats also going to be bringing us some patchy cloud cover. So that is going to cool things down just a little bit. Lower 50s for the most part to mid 50s, say, in richmond at 55 degrees. Certainly chilly in the north bay. Heres a look at my accuweather seven day forecast. Rain on wednesday. As we head into thursday temperatures go up a little bit. Slight dip on friday but by saturday and sunday it should be a pretty lovely weekend. After crunching nutritional data Consumer Reports found its a mixed bag. Most are less than 130 calories and 4 grams of fat per serving but thats actually more than some healthier crunchy snacks like lays baked original potato chips which have about the same number of calories but half the fat. Its also more than quakers salt free rice cakes which have no fat and only 35 calories each. But the skinny on fat is its all relative. Industrial parkway is involving a couple of vehicles. Everything has been pushed over to the shoulder. We have breaking news out of texas. Youre looking at live pictures of the aftermath of an oil well explosion. This is near san antonio. This is in cairns county there. There was an explosion and fire. One person apparently was injured, air lifted to a local hospital according to cnn. Seven miles of highway 80 in that area has been shut down. So breaking news. Oil well explosion near san antonio. One person injured. Well keep our eye on the situation. And back here in San Francisco we have developing news. Police are investigating the mysterious death of a seven month old baby. Abc 7 News Reporter Amy Holifield joins us live from the glen park neighborhood with the investigation and what we know about the baby. Reporter kristin, police are in the babys home. You can see an officer standing there in the front. They have been here for a couple of hours. They are trying to figure out what happened and why this baby died. This home is on monterey at acadia here in San Francisco, but there are also officers investigating at San Francisco General Hospital. Thats where the mother showed up about 12 30 this morning with her baby. Thats where the baby died. The medical examiner took a look and said that this death looked suspicious so he called in police. Officers are conducting an investigation right now but they say it is too early to say what they think happened. Theyre still trying to figure this all out. Live in San Francisco Amy Holifield, abc 7 news. Amy, thank you. New this morning, a driver who apparently fell asleep at the wheel gave one san jose neighborhood a rude wakeup call this morning. Police say the driver hit several parked cars on camden avenue. You can see the tire marks right there he left on the grass. He sheered off a fire high drand before slamming hard into the side of an apartment building. Tenants say this is not the first time parked cars have been hit on the street. Crews were able to quickly cap off the gas meter that was hit by the gas truck. Were learning new details on the july crash of asiana flight 214 at sfo. The pilots are claiming mechanical problems led to the deadly crash. Abc 7 nuts reporter katie marzulo joins us from the newsroom. Reporter theres a problem with what the pilot says. The wall street journal is citing people familiar with the investigation is reporting ntsb investigators have not found any mechanical nor electrical problems with the twin engine jet prior to impact. The same sources have told investigators they believe the automated speed control system called the auto throttle disconnected on its own allegedly without any warning and supporting that pilot account asiana 777 maintenance logs show a number of uncommanded auto throttle disconnects. Asiana officials reported to bring that up to the ntsb in person when they visit the board in the coming months. Three girls were killed, a 15yearold and two 16yearolds. They were students from the same middle school in china. Nearly 200 other passengers were injured in the crash. The ntsb has planned a meeting. Its scheduled for early next year. The crash investigation is on hold during the Government Shutdown. We dont know at this point if that will delay the hearing. Live in the newsroom, katie marzulo, abc news. If you buy foster farms chicken, watch out. A salmonella outbreak has made its way to the bay area. Chicken products prepared at three foster farms facilities. Food inspectors have now zeroed in on one particular product thats why they havent issued a specific recall. The u. S. D. A. Has issued a Public Health alert saying the products may have sickened nearly 300 people in 18 states. Packages with the following serial numbers may be the cause, p6137 p6137a and p7362. Department of agriculture is open during this shutdown but working with a much smaller staff you a routine fire call in the south bay led to possible illegal activity. San jose firefighters responded to the home on north 7th street before 9 00. They saw flames and smoke pouring out of the basement. Firefighters had a tough time getting to the flames because the windows were covered with bars and plywood. A fire captain said the basement has illegal electrical wiring and was used for unspecified illegal activity. Authorities in santa klara county are asking for the publics health. Investigators are trying to track down 22yearold jose jiminez olmo. Authorities seized large amounts of cash and drugs from his home in east san jose. The raid took place in a neighborhood where houses are valued at 1 million. They found meth, heroin and coke with an estimated value of 1. 5 million as well as 825,000 in cash. They believe a Mexican Drug Cartel may have supplied jiminezomos with the drugs. We are told that a man was severely injured and part of highway 80 is shut down because of this. It happened about 4 45 this morning when some saltwater tanks and diesel tanks exploded. Police and fire crews are combing the area around Twin Peaks Reservoir for a missing driver. Officials say a car rolled from 20th boulevard down the hillside to the reservoir around 4 00 this morning and caught fire. So far they havent seen any sign of a driver or any passengers. Crews brought in extra equipment to light up the area to see if they can find anyone who may have been thrown from that car. The threat of a b. A. R. T. The banks are holding the mortgages for themselves. When they have enough for their own portfolios, they may stop lending. Its hurting real estate deals in rural areas. The special zero loans for those areas are completely shut down blocking thousands of deals from closing. Lets see how the markets are doing so far this morning.
