Earlier she said he had attempted to take off three times in heavy rain. When the weather cleared, they left her cafe, but pennington said something with the plane didnt look right. The back of the tail of the airplane, the complete back went down like this, you know. I asked one of the pilots a couple of minutes ago and then they say, no, thats not normal for an airplane. Police are also trying to figure out what caused a driver to plow through a San Francisco coffee shop. It happened this afternoon at this cafe on clement street. The sedan stopped with the front end all the way inside the cafe. No one was hurt. A man was rushed to the hospital this afternoon after falling off a roof. It happened at this house at 21st avenue where workers were installing a new roof. Police say the man that fell suffered moderate injuries. Hes listed in stable condition tonight. The accident is being investigated by cal osha. Berkeley has red tagged an apartment where a couple and their cats died in january. This is video from when it first happened. Investigators say Carbon Monoxide exposure killed roger and val morash. However, the source of the gas has still not been identified. Berkeley side reports the buildings owner will have to bring in a contractor to determine if the unit is safe. San jose police are looking for three men seen robbing a series of convenience stores. The men enter the store in pairs with one pointing a rifle at the cashier. They all happened last october in the space of one hour. Two of the victims were physically assaulted. The robbers are between 18 and 29 years old. They fled with stolen cash in a white or goldcolored suv. San Francisco School officials are looking to increase security at a school where four students were hurt during a shooting last year. Victims of the flooding in san jose are getting a bit of a break when it comes to paying their utility bills. Just an hour ago, city officials held a Flood Recovery briefing saying san jose water has extended the payment grace period by eight weeks and pg e is also giving flood victims a little extra time. Our Utility Partners have graciously agreed to provide grace periods,xtended the due d0 days. Starting tomorrow the Assistance Center will open later until 8 00 p. M. For the rest of the week. The city plans to close that center on saturday. San jose today made it official, declaring a state of emergency to help victims from the flood. They have been out there helping to clean up and offer help. At todays Council Meeting they launched a number of initiatives to speed up recovery. The first was to proclaim a local emergency so the city can seek state and federal disaster aid. The city is gearing up to release the nearly 1 million in contributions raised so far. It will be channelled through four nonprofit groups to screen applicants, manage their cases and provide muchneeded cash for clothes and other necessities lost to floodwaters. They just need help. We want to know when theyre going to get help, how much money are they going to have to spend out of their pocket. Reporter the mayor says he keeps working the phones to raise more money because even 1 million wont be enough. The city is also going to work with landlords. You remember Anderson Reservoir was so full that it flooded coyote creek, bringing it above flood stage and that is what caused some of the problems and all the flooding in san jose. Anderson dam doesnt meet earthquake Safety Standards and must be kept at no more than 68 of capacity. Now heres another product of our heavy rains, another big pothole in a bay area freeway.
