Live in San Francisco, melanie woodrow, abc 7 news. Now lets go to abc 7 News Reporter vic lee with a little more information on who will lead the Police Department for the time being. Vic live in the bay view where the shooting took place earlier today. Vic, lieutenant tony chaplain is the name well be hearing a lot of. Reporter well, this has certainly been a surprise to me. I mean, tony chaplain, deputy chief now chief of police, but if greg suhr had to leave, tony chaplain is a good choice to replace him. Hes a highly regarded cop. Hes close to the community. He values their input. Ive known him personally, professionally for a long time. I did a lot of ridealongs with him when he was with a Gang Task Force way back when. Hes been with the department for decades. Again, hes well regarded by the rank and file. Tony also worked in homicide for a long time. He worked on some major cases. Then he was promoted to chief of investigations for the department. He joined the command staff then. And then when the department of justices cops program launched its investigation into the department, chief suhr promoted him again to deputy chief as a liaison to that federal program. So again, tony chaplain is a cops cop. He values the community input. He has close contacts with them. And hes going to make i think a very good chief. Hes got a lot of experience and good relations with the rank and file. Back to you. Vic, thats great information. Thank you. Reporter case in point, dublin residents conserved so much waurlt their district relaxed most restrictions last march. Dublin has a Waste Water Treatment Plant it gives away to residents. It charges 10 a truck load for industrial use. We are able to recognize now that water is too valuable a commodity to spend all the money to treat waft water and dump it in the bay. Part of the reason mechanics may pressure or mislead you is because cars are more reliable these days and fewer repairs mean lower profits for those garages. Reporter some mechanics may even lie about what they find under the hood when you bring your vehicle into the shop. Here are some common scams. Faking a leak. Putting drops of cool ent on your engine to mimic a broken radiator. Recommending a full brake replacement with rotors and calipers when simply replacing the pads and reservicing the rotors will do. Or calling for a transmission flush which under certain circumstances can actually cause damage. Also check your owners man youll for your cars maintenance schedule especially if you suspect that the mechanic is trying to trick you by suggesting you replace an expensive piece like a timing belt before its really necessary. For any repair, be sure to get an estimate in writing and if you still question if, seek out a Second Opinion from a trusted mechanic. And be on guard if you get a recall notice. Some unxrup euless dealers may refuse to do the free fix unless you agree to other expensive repairs or maintenance.
