Sir, people are being evicted reporter no one wanted to talk about the evictions which the city says were handed down from the warehouse owner. In february, the salt lick was identified as one of a dozen properties in oakland possibly unsafe for living, including this secondfloor fire escape which only reached to the end of the roof. Reporter the bryant street onramp that dumps you on to the bay bridge used to be a dumps you on to the bay bridge used to be a shortcut. This onramp gets so backed up in the afternoon that its jammed with traffic. Take a look. We have a little bit of video of. That the deal is its supposed to be carpool and clean air vehicles only from 3 30 to 7 00 p. M. However, transportation officials feel that 50 of the people using that onramp during those hours are cheaters, theyre not in carpools, they dont have clean air vehicles. So theres a plan to change that. They want to add cameras and technology to bus people who are breaking the law and also actually increase the carpool hours to midday since the backup starts at 2 30. It doesnt help those folks who are actually trying to carpool. The plan needs to be approved by the metropolitan transportation commission. There are similar plans in place that are at least being talked about for the 101 in marin and sonoma counties, as well.
