Instead the Transportation Agency will be reducing van ness avenue from three lanes in both directions to two starting monday. Eventually center lanes will be designated bus only. The buses especially get in the way, especially if they have their tail hanging in, dont pull all the way in. Thats problematic to get around. Renderings show what the project will look like when completed. Its similar to the muni trains on third street. The results should mean a time savings of about 15 minutes. This weekend left turns on van ness will be removed at all but three intersections. I just feel it will causeway too much traffic. People already drive crazy in the city. Lisa argen will be along a little bit later with your full forecast. She will tell you how your weekend is shaping up. The commute across the bay bridge is one of the worst commutes in the nation. If you drive it, you know it. Its so slow. Abc7 morning traffic reporter alexis smith and sky 7 conducted our own bay bridge time challenge during one morning commute. Lets see lane 1, fast track or cash . Its a mindnumbing call to get to the bay bridge toll plaza in the morning. Bumper to bumper, people weve in and out within traffic. Its getting worst. Lately the fast track lane is backed up more than the cash lane. I got in five seven to give us a view from above. All the lanes take fast track. Some still accept cash too and sometimes the cash lanes seem shorter. Which is really faster . We did a comparison and rigged two abc7 cars with cameras and put cameras on the roofs so we could track them. They both left at the same time. The blue 7 is going through the cash lanes, and weve got the red 7 going through the fast track lanes. Minutes in, so far looks like cash is moving a little bit faster. Whats keeping the red 7, the fast track carb hyped . It had to cross over the cash lanes to get over to the fast track lanes in the center. Now hes getting over. It doesnt last long for the lead. Looks like we have the fast track car, the red 7 catching up and passing the blue, the cash car. Nearly 35 minutes into our commute, traffic really slows down and its the drivers in the cash lane creating the problem. We see car after car. Cash driver is also feeling the pinch. Hes getting cut off in the cash lanes because they are all trying to get over into the fast track so its affecting the cash driver too. By the time our challenge is over, the fast track lane have just about five minutes faster than the cash lane. A time savings, but maybe not as much as you think. Thats really consistent with what weve found over the years. John goodwin is with the transportation commission. Evidently theres some folks who seem to believe that their time isore valuable than others. He said those drivers who cut over at the last minute play a big part in slowing down traffic. Theres no Real Advantage game by the folks, as we call them, the dive bombers. They said they have tried to prevent that by installing flection able pylons, but the drivers drive them over. They are looking a way to eliminate the cash option from the bridge to speed things up. The Golden Gate Bridge stopped taking cash in 2013 and since then the flow has improved. Theres no set date when the golden might take cash. There are a number of things we need to do because the traffic volumes are so much greater on the bay bridge . The meantime drivers are looking for relieve and leaving earlier wont help them. They said the business just time on the bay bridge is between 5 00 a. M. And 6 00 a. M. A 70 increase since 2010. Abc7 news. Dont forget, alexis has your commute covered every morning starting at 4 30 a. M. The person in charge of keeping bart safe is retiring. Now your accuweather forecast with lisa argen. Good morning, to you. Waking up to some cloud cover. Fog not that much of a problem. But we are looking at a little bit of green on live doppler 7 and that does represent a little bit of shower activity. Its been confined to the far north bay. Sonoma county maybe. 05. It continues to wash on out. You see a few returns from lake port to cloverdale and really beyond that. Even into marin county. Maybe some drizzle. Otherwise its a cloudy start. Heres a look at sfo. So far no problems here but you will notice the tropics 50 degrees in gilroy. Most of you are up in the upper 50s. San jose, 60 Mountain View and oakland 63 degrees. Downtown here you will notice it looks pretty quiet but numbers too from out upper 50s to lower 60s. Heading outside it feels a little milder but even muggy. When we measure how the atmosphere, the air feels to your skin, we do that in the dewpoint. When you look at the dewpoint in the 50s works i we have right now, it feels muggy. Anything more than that feels like we would be in hawaii in the 60degree range. But you can see we are in the muggy range. Getting into the sunshine this afternoon. It should feel pretty good out there. Mostly cloudy this morning. Partly cloudy today with more sun into next week with. And just a few opportunities of maybe some light rain. So going through the next several hours, notice all the cloud cover. Mainly in the north bay. Then as we head toward the afternoon, it thins out. It should be a pretty nice afternoon. So highs today anywhere from two to five degrees above average. Look at all the low 70s on the map as you head inland. That represents the yellow con tour. And the greens mainly in the 60s. So really a pretty nice afternoon. Above average for most of you as we look at tomorrow, the second half of your weekend, more sun. Slightly warmer temperatures, taking you into monday very little change. More upper 60s from richmond to oakland, and some low 70s inland. The next chance of rain will get into tuesday night into wednesday. And this continues to look very, very unimpressive. So looks right now like there wasnt be much out of this system. Rather dry. But with a clear sky on the positive note tomorrow night we get to look at the super moon, which is the closest to the earth since 1948. That makes it 7 larger than the average full moon. So its brighter than the average moon and you will definitely notice it out there. As we check out your accuweather sevenday forecast. We have the morning clouds today and partly cloudy this afternoon. More sunshine. Slightly warmer the few days ahead. By tuesday a chance of showers mainly in the northbound bay. Could wake up to a lingering sprinkle on wednesday. We are getting close tory thanksgiving, but november somewhat of a disappointment in terms of our rainfall. Our forecast highlights mostly cloudy this morning. Maybe a few isolated sprinkles, a light shower in the north bay. Then partly cloudy skies today. More sunshine is tomorrow into next week. But there could be some changes midweek. So this is with where we stand right now.
