Police are investigating the death of a man hit by a car at market and delores streets. It happened last night just before 11 00. Witnesses say the victim was on an island, not in the cross walk when he was hit, and had a cane and roller bag with him. He died at the scene, despite efforts by bystanders to survive him. The driver is cooperating with police. And developing news out of walnut correct. Police have arrested a man believed to be involved in a possible shooting on 680. Our media partner at the east bay times reports the man was surrounded in walnut creek bart station after leading police on a chase through pleasanton, san ramon and danville. We are getting a report of a freeing a shorting when they spotted the alleged gunman. On the campaign trail, donald trump was rushed offstage in reno last night. The secret Service Claims someone shouted gunat the rally. They arrested a man, found no weapon. He was released and not charged. The man later told an abc affiliate in las vegas that he had a republican against trump sign and people started attacking him before trump was led off. It was a chaotic end to a very long day for both candidates. Abc News ReporterJonathan Betts has the latest on the campaign trail. Bay area Election Officials are telling he voters not to worry when they cast their ballots. California is one of the few states immuned to cyber attempts to create confusion on election day. Abc7 News ReporterLisa Amin Gulezian explains. In San Franciscos department of elections, ballots are being sorted and of the timeconsuming process of manually organizing ballots is underway. The paper trail is long and purposeful in this elections office. We take any questions or concerns about voting integrity very seriously. A gal lot survey in august showed 36 of americans felt voter fraud would most likely be a major problem this election and just 43 had a, quote, great deal of confidence that their vote would be counted correctly. The reality is just two states recently had their voting systems hacked. Not in california where paper ballots are used. Theres no possible way for our results to be hacked. Nothing in the voting booth is attached to the internet. But some fear state websites or even unofficial Election Night numbers could be compromised, thus leading voters to distrust the system. A landscape iser found his body wednesday buried next to a parking lot. Detectives dont believe this was a random act of violence. Sheriffs officer explorer Carlos Ramirez was found dead in oakland. It was the first time the Explorers Program has lost someone is. Abc7 News Reporter sergio quinn taken no lost someone. Her body was found at a park in oakland thursday. On friday investigators announced they detained two people in connection to her brutal murder. She had been beaten, stabbed and burned. Investigators wouldnt give details about a motive behind the crime. This is a personal matter. The almeda county Sheriffs Department has not released the names of the suspects in the case. This woman said he knows one of the accused. I know the girl, she used to work at kfc. It kind of shocks us because how could a person do that it another coworker . He tells us the suspect is another coworker laura rodgers. Shes been booked into the jail. The 13. 3 halfmarathon begins today at the muni pier near aquatic part. A woman who drown friday in the Russian River is a longtime former berkeley teacher. 69yearold heidi boley was canoeing with two friends when her boat overturned. She disappeared when they are friends swam to shore. Rescuers found her a short time later but they could not revive her. She taught for more than two decades and recently worked parttime for the district. A shocking find just outside fresno. The couple found multiple burned animal remains dumped on the side of the road. Reporter corey james from our sister station found out this is not the first time they have made this type of disturbing discovery. Its heartbreaking to see in person. The photo is too graphic to show you without blowing part of the picture. You could still see the face, the broken structures. It was obviously a small dog but it had been badly burned. [train whistle] it was found feet away from the train tracks at avenue 15 saturday. There were several, maybe about five or six butane cans just spread out over the entire scene. You know right away that, okay, this wasnt an accident. You dont do that. Its not an accident. Butane cans just dont show up in the area. Yvonne and her husband, casey, said it was not just one doing they found. There were multiple burnt animal skeleton remains all stretched out over the halfmile stretch of dogs. The other ones were unwreck flied. You could see some bones, heads, paws, sculls. Last year they took photos of a similar scene. For them seeing it again raises questions and concerns. Dramatic video from the chp shows firefighters rescuing two people and a dog dropped 80 feet down the side of a cliff. It happened at rodeo beach yesterday afternoon. The dog fell off the cliff first. The owner and a Good Samaritan then went after them but got stuck. Firefighters hoisted them up one by one into a chp helicopter. The dogs owner is thankful everything turned out okay. I am just incredibly grateful and so glad that i got out of it and that everybody got out of it. The dog, named pancake, went to the vet with some minor scrapes and bumps. Happening today some raider fans plan to send a message to Team Owner Mark Davis during todays game. Police in oakland continue to investigate a ferocious gun battle that left eight people wounded, including one in critical condition. It happened just after midfight saturday at 14th street near broadway. Abc7 News ReporterCornell Barnard has the details. I was listening to music and it was bullets like everiy. Angela was inside a bar and heard the gunshots come from the street. She ran for cover. People who were downstairs ran upstairs. And what scared everyone, because then everyone else started running. I ran and hid in the ladys room until the shooting stopped. Two men exchanged gun shire, wounding six people caught in the gun fire. When i came outside, there was blood everywhere. Victims, 17 to 28 years old were rushed to the hospital and two men were arrested. Instances like this are heartbreaking. Oakland mayor libby schaaf reacting to the crime. She said police are working to reduce gun violence. We are working to reduce gun violence in every neighborhood in the city. We do not play favorites with neighborhoods. This is about human life. Last year musicians Emiliano Nevarez was killed by a stray bullet leaving a bar also on 14th street in oakland. They say there were no way the two suspects were inside their establish men that night because metal detectors are in use. Of the 17 propositions on tuesdays state ballot, one is opposed by both the republican and democratic parties. Supporters say its common sense. Prop 60 would require condoms for performers in adult films. California and New Hampshire are the only states that allow adult films to be made and have regulations. Now voters are being asked to decide whether more restrictions are needed. Aerial experts for San FranciscoStates Company has a producer in adult films. Shes among those fighting proposition 60. It would require performers to wear condoms, producers to pay for more medical exams, and allow people who watch porn to sue if they dont see condoms being used. Plans to launch a new Weather Satellite that may unable early warnings for Severe Weather. Something you are probably interested in. The technology was developed at aloki research lab in palo alto in a story you will see only on abc7 news. Our reporter gives us a look at its lifesaving potential. By the time we see lightning, Severe Weather is at our doorstep. But out in space there are light things in clouds 5 to 13 miles high. This 200pound instrument will measure each volt and send data to the ground. We are dressed in bunny suits to maintain a dustfree environment. It looks for a certain wave longs of atomic oxygen thats created by lightning so it can penetrate through clouds and see lightning. Lightning at that altitude, especially cloudtocloud turns out to be a good predictor of Severe Weather, especially tornadoes on earth and to empower meteorologists to provide earlier warnings. Lockheed martin researchers have been working on this lightning mapper for ten years. It will be joined by another instrument to monitor solar flares. Solar flares affect things like radio propagation and they can affect things like power grids on the ground. The data from that n. A. S. A. Managed satellite will be available free to forecasters to help people know of fastchanging conditions. We will be saving lives by better predicting weather on the ground and helping people get to safety when Severe Weather is approaching. 2900pound instrument will be joined by five others aboard this satellite, which will be launched on november 16th from Cape Canaveral and going up into space 22,000 miles.
