We are seeing quite a few penalties. The man told her to wire another 1900. Next day more demands. She wired money 8 times in all totaling 16,000, wiping out her bank account, her sisters too. In two days i was so stressed out i just couldnt think straight. The demands kept coming. She couldnt take it anymore. I told my sister im going to go in. She drove to the Santa Clara Police department and turned herself in. Ready to go to jail. I had no choice. Thats how she learned the truth. They told me this is is an irs scam, and you fell for it. Police told her they never called. Neither did the irs. Scammers had used a cloning device to make those numbers appear to be on her caller i. D. She and her sister had no money for food or rent. Friends started a Gofundme Campaign to help but she wanted me to warn you. This could happen to someone else. Heres the lessen. Voice over internet phones can be be manipulated to falsify a caller i. D. Number. Its been used in other scams too. If you get a suspicious call, dont assume the caller i. D. Is the real number they are calling from.
