More break news n oakland where police are look for suspect information after a fatal triple shooting at a busy downtown intersection early this morning. Police were nearby and her the gunfire at 14th and broadway around 1 30 this morning. Officers say they also saw a crowd of people running for safety after the shots were fired. They found three victims, two women and one man. They called for ambulances. One of the women died at the hospitals. Police say they dont know who fired the shots or what the motive might have been. Police say there were so many people in the area the suspect or suspects got away in all of the confusion. We are also following developing news in east oakland. Police are investigating a double shooting that left one dead and one sent to the hospital. It was on 109th street near interstate 580. Police found a mans body outside of a car. The second was taken to the hospital with at least one gunshot wound. Police have not arrested anyone. They are hoping witnesses will come forward and help lead them to suspects in that case. A fire created haze across the bay area. You probably saw it. Maybe you smelled it, as well. Gusty winds fanned the flames and blew smoke across the region. It was caused by a combination of rare winds and marsh land vegetation. Allen wong has more from highway 12 in solano county. By night fall fire crews were mopping up a few hotspots and a herd of cattle was looking for greener pastures. It all started around noon, the massive fire east of sassoon city burned several acres. Several cows were dropped but ranch hand helped free them. It burned its say into the nearby marsh land and seemed to generate more smoke than flames. Fight fires out here, particularly in the marsh, theres green vegetation and it smokes more than typical than if the vegetation was dry. The smoke snarled traffic along interstate 80 and the northerly winds blow it right into the bay area, creating a haze in the sky. Meanwhile more than a dozens homes were evacuated. I am waiting for my daughter to come out. The only loss was a ranch building that contained hay and farm equipment. The fire is under control but crews are paying attention to the wind and several teetering power poles damaged by the flames. Allen wong, obc7 news. And then theres this fire in sonoma county. It came close to one home mere roanoke park. Firefighters stopped the flames after they charred about 130 acres of dry brush yesterday. There was a fire long eastbound 780. It briefly threatened some buildings around 3 00 yesterday afternoon but no evacuationings had to be ordered. You could smell smoke in just about every part of the bay area yesterday with all of the fires. Viewers tweeted us all day and reached out to us on facebook and said theya haze and smelled smoke, even miles from the fire. The haze almost made alcatraz vanish. Some folks felt disappointed. Its a bum ehrhoff when you dont see the blue sky but ice sad to know its from so far away and it affects here. I looked up and thought something was burning in my house or Something Like that. Plenty of smoke was still visible in the area. See in this panorama that was taken at sunset yesterday from our sutro tower cam. The state of manufacturing has been declared in san carlos because of a pg e pipeline beneath the city, similar to the one that caused the deadly explosion in san bruno. Now a San Mateo County judge has ordered the pipeline shut down. We have more from san carlos. Pg e doesnt know enough about the condition of this pipeline. San carlos city manager, jeff, is worried about pg es pipeline 147, which runs between 280 and 101 primarily along britain avenue. The records are mismatched in terms of the material, the age of the pipeline, whether or not refurbished pieces from the 1930s were used in the creation of the pipeline. The pipeline is similar to the one in san bruno that ruptured and exploded in 2010 killing eight people. In an email from an employee to the city, the city raises concerns about pipeline 147 saying are we at this time sitting on a san bruno situation. A pg e spokesperson assures me the line is safe. The facility tested the line two years ago, burr the city isnt convinced. So its in the process of serving pg e with a temporary injunction and it requires pg e to immediately shut off service to pipeline 147. Pg e has already voluntarily reduced the line pressure by 20 and says it will consider further reductions if it can be done without jeopardizing service to customers. Both pg e and san carlos want to assure residents theres no need to panic over pipeline 147. Theres no reason for them to panic to have to think about leaving their homes or make any changes to their lives that they would on a daily basis. The California PublicUtilities Commission will meet with the city monday to see if theres anything they can do to get the issue sorted out. Sky service hd shows us where the costco in danville was evacuated last night. It took crews about an hour to patch the leak and shoppers returned to the costco when firefighters gave the allclear. There was a fire that caught a fair of mobile homes that broke out before 7 00 last night behind a residents on may barry road. Both mobile homes were empty. Fire apparently started in one of them and spread to the other. Oakland police have made an arrest in a case of a fenderbender that led to murder. Charles butler was shot to death in 2011 after bumping another car while trying to Parallel Park. Abc7 News Reporter sergio quinn taken no has more on the attest. The arrest is the latest chapter in the murder case of Charles Butler jr. Just days before christmas in 201 butler was killed after accidentally bumping a car while trying to Parallel Park in an oakland corner store. Douglas was arrested tuesday. Investigators say hes an accomplice. The accused gunman, mr. Hunter, is still on the lose. Police are trying to track him down. There was a fundraiser that was happening around the corner that day. Butlers sister described the scene when he was shot in 2011. There were six bullets. They werent happy would w. That. Drove up and put the last bullet in his head over nothing. They have found the boys mother. The driver of car that hit him will not be charged. A big gap separates both sides in barts labor talks but how big depends on who you ask. Bart says there had an 89 million gap. At least one union says its 30 million. They disagree on how long a new labor contract should last. Part officials want a four Year Contract and the unions want three years. Talks resume today to prevent another strike, which could come next week. Two dogs that strayed into a rural brentwood property were shot to death, not killed by a shovel as first reported. John originally told officials he beat the dogs to death with a shovel and key mated them but they say he was covering for his father, who shot the dogs last saturday after they began killing his chickens. Authorities say 58yearold jeanne was going about 80 miles an hour when she slammed into the familys minivan. The sisters of the woman killed by police after a car chase in the Nations Capital want to know why she had to die. 34yearold woman was killed after she tried to ram through a barrier at the white house. Her sisters say she didnt show any signs of being unstable and didnt need to die. Deadly physical force wasnt the ultimate recourse and it didnt have to be. The partial shut down of the federal government has entered its fifth day. President obama is urging House Republicans to pass a short term spending measure that would reopen the government without strings attached. But elsewhere take a look at the 60s around the bay and on the coast we have some 70s. It feels like october in some areas around the bay, but by this afternoon it will feel customerlike with temperatures once again well into the 80s. So heres a look at san jose. But all of the bay area will enjoy numbers from about 80 trees right at our coast, maybe even warmer conditions there, to the midand upper 80s all around the bay. We are talking about temperatures well into the 80s around santa cruz. Pacifica about 80. So very little variation today. The only good news really is that the winds have died back. Red flag warnings have been cancelled. Syl elevated fire conditions and very dry conditions throughout the afternoon. We are talking about numbers anywhere from 8 to 10 degrees above normal today. We will talk about tomorrow and the week ahead coming up. All right, lisa. Thank you. President obama is urging out republicans to vote on a senateapproved bill to reopen the federal government. It is day five of the partial shut down. Congress will convene today to consider back pay for 800,000 sidelined federal workers. Both houses are expected to approve that possibly by the end of the day. But the president wants a yes or no vote in the house that could quickly end the shutdown. Pass a budget that funds our government with no partisan strings attached. The senate has already done this. And there are enough republicans and democratic votes in the house of representatives willing to do the same. End the shutdown immediately. Unfortunately the far right of the Republican Party wont let Speaker Boehner give that bill a yes or no vote. Take that vote and stop in farce and end this shutdown now. In the republican address texas senator blames Senate Democrats for refuse to go make any changes to the healthcare law. Oakland police are looking for a gunman who robbed businesses in oakland each time firing his weapon. It took place in the fruitvale district and then in the diamond district. Vic lee reports. News of the brazen robberies spread quickly. Kali opened her cafe in the diamond district just four months ago. She said theres been a surge in crime here. I know a bunch of my customers who actually left the neighborhood because of the crime. The first robbery took place about 8 45 year at this Mexican Restaurant on the 1400 block of fruitvale avenue. The manager told us they fired at least six rounds into the wall and then he demanded money. The only worker there said there was none in the Cash Register so the robber took too bottles of tequila instead. He did not fire right away. He asked for money. I couldnt give him the money. He then hit stephanie horns beauty salon in the diamond district, a neighborhood of shops and restaurants. Many of them small mom and pop businesses. Just like the restaurant, horn had just opened her shop so she, too, only had a small amount of money in the Cash Register. He requested more. I said we just opened the shop at 9 00 and this is all we had. That was not the answer the gunman wanted. I was stand being right here. He fired there. I dont know. You could see i see the bullet holes. Yeah, the bullets. The woman fortunately was not hit by the gunfire. Robber then ran out and entered this Subway Sandwich shop where he demanded money from a worker here. I heard three shots, bam, bam, bam, like that. This pedestrian, who did not want to be identified for fear of retaliation, told me he saw the robber run out the door after he heard the shots. The guy come blazing out of subway waving a gun. He was like get the heck out of my way. He started chasing my friend with his gun and then passed him up. He piled in the car, took off and jumped on the freeing and left. Vic lee, abc7 news. Federal, state and local officials gathered in oakland to take a symbolic first step on what will be a new twelve mile bike and pedestrian path. The first segmenting is built from the coliseum bart station to 85th avenue. Most will run under the bart tracks and eventually connect three neighborhoods. The first section will be finished next spring. This is part of oakland becoming and being one of americas greenest cities consistently for the next decade. Just last year we moved into the top ten cities in the percentage of people that ride to work. The 3. 6 million project is being paid for through a combination of federal, regional and county funds. Lots of tour efforts flock to San Franciscos chinatown, but it turns out its more than just a great place to visit, it has been named one of the best ten places to live.
