People who still need overnight shelter will be able to move to Alum Rock Youth Center starting today right next door to James Lick High School, which will be closing its high school along with the shelter at evergreen valley high. City officials tell us evacuees could be out of their homes for weeks, even possibly months. Officials admit it may be tough for everyone to find a place to stay shortterm in this tough housing market. Tomorrow, the city is opening a local Assistance Center at shirakawa community center. Its going to be a multiagency onestop shop for evacuees hoping to get back on their feet. Advocates, insurance providers and emergency groups from the state will be there. If you want help today, 7 on your sides Michael Finney is going to be set up in san jose to help people who are affected by the flood. Authorities say a man walking his dogs found the body loom Alameda Creek near coyote hills park. Theyre trying to determine if its the body of a young woman who crashed her car into the creek last month. The Sheriffs Office has notified the family of 18yearold jada jenkins. You may remember numerous searches were launched after the crash. The body appears to have been in the water and exposed to the elements for some time. Immigration officials are shooting down claims this morning that they duped santa cruz police. Homeland security says police were told in advance they would detain any foreign nationals encountered in last weeks raid in the skr. They deny the Police Chiefs claim that the raids intentionally targeted undocumented immigrants. The chief says his department was misled. This has violated the trust of our community and we cannot tell you how disappointed we are by the betrayal of the department of homeland security. We will not collaborate with Law Enforcement agencies that we ourselves cannot trust. Quite a statement. Federal agents say ten suspected gang members were arrested in raids in santa cruz, daly city, and watsonville. Another 11 were detained for immigration violations. Ten have been released. We are getting word about breaking news coming into the live desk. Youre hearing about a crash involving several school buses in idaho. Some of our first images coming in. Two school buses involved in this crash and witnesses say say there were kids on board. Two other cars were also involved and i do want to show you some video that we have that we got from the scene as well and you can actually see one of those buses being towed away from the scene. Those buses had extensive damage to the front end of those vehicles. The Sheriffs Office says no one was injured. Unclear exactly what led up to this crash, although you do see here in the video theres snow on the ground so that may have something to do with it. Ill let you know if we get additional details. Bay area Law Enforcement agencies are mourning the death of an Alameda County deputy who was hit by a bus. It was driven by a fellow deputy. Heres abc7 news leslie brinkley. Community lost a really Good Police Officer today. Reporter Deputy Michael folly worked for the alameda Sheriffs Department for almost ten years to help put his son through college. Before that, years with the Concord Police department, which is also reeling from his sudden death. From what we hear from his supervisors, even though he was 60 years old, he ran circles around these young kids. Reporter foley showed up for work in dublin an hour early wednesday morning. In the dark parking lot at 6 00 a. M. , a bus going to pick up bag lunches for inmates accidentally struck foley, who suffered serious head trauma that led to his death. The driver of the bus . He was friends with mike. He loved mike. And so hes also a victim in this. Reporter chp is investigating the accident. Flags at the jail and at the state capital are at half staff. Because its a line of duty death, he will have an official Law Enforcement funeral with all the bells and whistles.
