People made their way to sandbag stations in preparation for even more rain. In sonoma, the Sheriffs Department posted photos of deputies rescuing someone. 3,000 people have been told to evacuate their homes. Michael shared video from the Memorial Bridge sunday afternoon. The city has undergone major changes since the 2000s. A devastating flood in 2005. The city has come a long way. Water everywhere. The downtown area flooded. So people had sandbags. You know, businesses got water all in them and everything. So it is much better now. There are sandbags stacked in the doorways throughout downtown. The city closed off certai riverside parks and paths. North bay, flooding and Power Outages are forcing schools in Sonoma County to close classes. Alexander valley, cloverdale, forestville, guerneville. Harmony and monte rio wont have class today. Two people were trapped in that car when a river overflowed its banks. Firefighters found they could wade to the disabled car. They walked the two people out to safety. I was heading home on bailey, going west, and all of a sudden, the road just turned shiny and the flood water was coming over the road. Next thing i know, the car stalled. We were ten feet from the edge of the water. A matter of ten minutes, the water had grown 20, 30 feet in front of us. The rescue was good timing. Just after it was made, crews had to evacuate quickly because the water started rising again. Also in san jose, parts are so bad, a Police Cruiser got stuck. The officer was helping a stranded driver last night near st. Teresa boulevard and bailey, west of 101. Police say the water rose so fast, the officer parked at the scene, got trapped inside his squad car. We responded because its what we have to do. We went to assist a motorist. Yet, we can fall into the same traps if were not cautious. Everybody is okay. The driver is fine, and Police Called firefighters to help rescue the stranded officer. Officials say this intersection is going to remain closed until the water recedes. A monsoon in martinez. Look how much rain fell there overnight. One gauge suggested an inch an hour in that location. As you can see, parts of pacheco boulevard turned into what looked like a river. Thankfully, sandbags kept many downtown businesses dry. Overnight in San Francisco, crews closed part of the great highway along ocean beach due to flooding. Rews are waiting for the water to recede before they reopen the highway. People in the Santa Cruz Mountains are on alert for possible evacuation because of the fast rising river. Volunteers went door to door, alerting residents of the rising river. We give them lots of warnings. The county has used the reverse 911 system to let people know whats going on. The process has been a smooth one. The river is being closely monitored.
