Officers say the young driver lost control of the car on the wet road and hit a wall. The car caught fire. Both teenagers escaped. They were not hurt. It happened south of glenwood drive not far from that massive mudslide that blocked the highway for two weeks. A woman killed by a falling tree at Yosemite National park was working there at the time. Today the victim is identif identified the accident happened late yesterday morning at a campsite near half dome village. The area used to be known as curry village. The tree fell on the tent. These pictures are from a man staying nearby. Rangers cleared the camp ground after the accident. Property owners living near the oroville dam is dealing with erosion. The banks along the Feather River downstream from the dam have given way for miles. Acres and acres are land that butted up to the river are gone. Farmers noticed it when the river started receding last week. If you can imagine a 20foot wall with water up against it, completely saturated, and then you remove that wall, this ground literally flowed in like applesauce. Brad foster puts part of the blame on the department of Water Resources. He says the sudden shutdown of the spillway caused the super saturated river banks to rip apart. Water officials are assessing the damage but say erosion is normal for rivers, especially during an extraordinarily wet water year. Were getting new video of the work being done to shore up the main spillway at the oroville dam. The department of Water Resources sent out this drone video. You can see crews working on the left with water spilling down the right side. The real work, though, is going on underneath. Crews are working to reinforce the concrete spillway that broke apart last month. No word yet as to how long this phase of the work will continue. Turning now to the weather, it was a bit calmer today compared to yesterday, but there were still scattered showers. This is video along 280 in San Francisco as the rain came down this afternoon. We have Little Pockets of very light scattered precipitation moving from marin county over to lower napa county. Moving right out of San Francisco now over the bay, a little area of light precipitation, some light showers around san leandro and hayward over in the east bay. If you cross the defendant in any way, shape or form, there will be payback and a reckoning. The 31yearold martinez man was initially arrested in 2013 on charges that he committed Car Insurance fraud and embezzled 100,000 from a local hauling company. But a year later prosecutors added new charges. Waldo solicited fellow inmates in the contra costa jail to murder nine witnesses in his white collar case. Its completely false. Reporter we spoke with waldo last month in a jailhouse interview. I wasnt looking at a lot of time before that alleged murder conspiracy scheme. I had no intention of trying to murder any witnesses. Police arrested him yesterday at sfo as he was returning from a vacation from colombia. Hes accused of embezzlement and grand theft. The fbi spent a considerable effort trying to figure this out. These are thousands of pages of documents that had to be data entried into computer programs and analyzed by a forensic accountant. Silvas attorneys tried to get his bill reduced from a million dollars. The judge refusing, saying silva is a flight risk. Former oakland mayor jean kwan and her husband are getting backlash for trying to open a medical marijuana dispensary. Some are worried the dispensary will bring crime into their neighborhood. If the city approves its license, the dispensary will open. The former mayor has been a longtime advocate of medical marijuana. Her husband has been prescribing the drug since 1996. A Spokesman Says its just a small group opposing the dispensary. Theres been a Significant Development in the raiders potential move to las vegas.
