Reporter note the sound at the furry of the water thats being released from the rain swollen anderson reservoir. As much water is coming out, its not enough to keep the water level from rising. Its at 91 right now. Its only supposed to be at 68 for seismic safety. It may be weeks before its where it is supposed to be. Water is gushing out of the reservoir through this outlet and into the creek as 3,000 gallons per second. Folks are coming to Anderson Lake county park to feel the intensity. Its awesome, were lucky to have it here. We useed to come out here. Our parents would bring us out. We would watch the water. They are releasing water as fast as they can. Its not enough. The pace of rain thats been pelting us has been so great that the water coming in has been greater than the amount of water we have been able put out through the outlet. Thats a problem because anderson you reservoir is only supposed to be 6 full. Any more than that and the dam could fail under the pressure of too much water during an earthquake of mag ani too much water during an earthquake of mag antude of 7. 2. Right now its 91 full. The risk of an earthquake happening at any one point in time or any month is very remote. A 400 million onearthquake retrofit is in the planning stages. It will take four years to complete.
