Heres a look at the heaviest, concentrated area to the east. We still have pockets of moderate to heavy downpours. Over to the east bay towards richmond. Another extended area of showers and heavy downpours moving across the peninsula. Then across the bay and. Over to the east bay like oakland. We have more developing offshore as you can see moving in our direction. Some pretty steady downpours have just begun to wind down in parts of the south bay. We have a flood advisory for an area of the north bay. Thats in effect until 9 15 tonight. Another area of flood advisory until about 5 30 this afternoon near monterey bay. Lets look at the storm totals. Most locations have received at least an inch. San francisco has received an inch and a third. Nearly 2 inches in mill valley. The totals continue to grow as we do the forecast intermission taking you through the evening hours and late night hours, you can see more pockets of showers and occasional rainfall coming our way. Thank you, spencer. Some of the heaviest rainfall during the last week has been in mo rin county and the reservoirs are showing it because they are spilling over. Wayne freedman has been out in the area. Reporter right now, this is 6 feet of water flowing through here. They had 8 earlier. Nothing to painic about. 13 is the flood level. We have had a heck of a month. They are comparing to a degree this month of december with the miracle march of 1991. Thats the mir call march that ended a sevenyear drought. They saw 30 inches of rain. As of this morning, we have seen 17 in the month of december. And now were seeing a lot of water. Less than a year ago, people might have imagined this. Youre looking at alpine dam, one of four reservoirs so full now that they are spilling over. A simple question, is the drought over . The governor has not changed his stance and were not going to either. Reporter today more rain fell. The county has seen 17 inches and thats only half of the month. The water spilled downhills, into storm drains and along the creeks. It became a tor rant by. The time it reached the falls. Last year at this time, just a trickle. Now the closest thing to niagara falls. Many residents felt compelled to visit and look. If you were to jump down there now, youd be down the creek in minutes. Also making news, the people who used to live in the jungle homele homeless encampment were kicked out. Several Homeless People had relocated. Thats 2 miles from the jungle which is off story road. Some of them got eviction notices last week and were given only five minutes to get out once the city showed up this morning. We thought we were going to be in the clear. They were moving our stuff for us. And told us we had five minutes. We were taken by surprise. San jose city Officials Say its unsafe and unhealthy for people to be camping outside when there are Shelter Services available. The city has appropriated 2 million to house Homeless People in san jose. A wellorganized group of protesters takes aim at the Oakland Police department. The city is ground zero for demonstrations over Police Violence against unarmed black men. Even though nobody has been shot by a Police Officer in oakland in 17 months. We have more on todays protests. Reporter that was largely a peaceful protest. At 5 00 were expecting people to gather here at lake merritt for what were told is going to be a vigil. This morning it sort of took police by surprise when their own headquarters was barricaded. Oakland police admit the blockade of their headquarters by demonstrators this morning was a surprise. It was clearly well planned. While some protesters chained themselves to the front doors of police headquarters, one man scaled a flag pole and displayed a flag that depicted faces of black men killed by police. The state is killing us every day, every 28 hours, either a Police Officer, vigilante or Service Officer murders a black person in this country. Im tired of it. Reporter soon after more than a dozen protesters connected their arms together and blocked broadway at 7th street. This group is largely peaceful, so were taking our time and being methodical. We dont want to injury anyone. Reporter police took their time disconnecting each protesters and placing them under arrest. A process that took place while another group were kept back on the other side of the intersection held by a line of officers in riot gear. The man on the flag pole descended and he too was arrested. In oakland, laura anthony, abc 7 news. Police at berkley are dropping a hate Crime Investigation into card board images of lynching victims. They made people feel uncomfortable. Yesterday a note appeared on a Bulletin Board from a group of artists claiming responsibility and apologizing for upsetting the students. The artists meant it as a protest against violence against blacks. That note is credible and ended the investigation. Community activists want police to fire an officer accused of venting on social media. The department has placed him on leave after these tweets that say threaten me or me family and i will given my right and duty to kill you. Another tweet read, if anyone feels lie they cant breathe or their lives matter, ill be at the movies tonight off duty carrying my gun. Police do have a policy on the use of social media. They cannot use that in in way that disparages or brings disrepute to the department. The san jose Police Officers association wants to remain focused on, is building positive dialogue and positive relationships with our community. Police internal affairs and the independent Auditors Office are investigate iing white. A deadly siege in australia ended with shots fired and police storming a cafe where 17 people were being held captive. Three people died including the gunman. Four others were injured. The city has been shaken by a tragedy that none of us could have ever imagined. Reporter the incident began at about 9 30 local time monday morning in the heart of downtown sydney. The suspect taking over this cafe, holding 17 people hostage. Authorities say he was a selfproclaimed islamic sheik and alleged sexual predator who was well known to them. He made headlines when he pled guilty to sending hateful letters to the fallen of service members. During the standoff, two hostages holding up a black flag showing a muslim profession of faith. Some were able to escape, but 2 00 a. M. Local time there were a number of gunshots heard which causes officers to move straight to an Emergency Action plan and that caused them to enter. It took place at three locations across montgomery county. S. W. A. T. Teams swooped in on homes looking for the suspected gunman. One neighbor described what happened when a search zeroed in. Congress approved 5 million to launch an earthquake Warning System for the west coast. This is a program thats been in the works for a decade now. The money is certainly good news, but its not enough to get the full earthquake Warning System up and running. Instead consider this a 5 million down payment. Broken buildings, twisted roads estimates earthquakes cause 5 billion damage annually in the united states. So 5 Million Investment is modest to protect us from those earthqua earthquakes. Its a start. The money will expand the prototype system to limited operational capacity given Key Industries precious seconds of warning. This large pine tree fell right on the pedestrian and bicycle path that runs through the panhandle near golden gate park. Crews from the department of recreation and parks worked quickly to cut it down and feed the branches through the woodch woodchiper. On the other side of town, Telegraph Hill had another rock slide, small this time. Joe crowley parked his truck a few feet from where the rocks landed. Im surprised and happy nothing happened. Reporter work started last week. A spokesperson for the department of public works said the project had nothing to do with todays slide. Typically when theres lots of rain, rocks will come down.
