Roxanne emailed i received a parking ticket while parking at a private parking lot in San Francisco issued by a private parking service. Is this legal . You know, this is kind of unsettled law. Back in 2011, Camela Harris issued a ruling on this or an opinion. Her opinion says no, it is not legal, that you cant just write out tickets and make somebody pay. That even if you post it up on the wall or put it on a sign over a parking space and say if you park here and dont pay us, we are going to write you a ticket, still doesnt fly, according to her. Also, if your car is towed, now, they cant tow your car. If youre on their property illegally they can tow your car and charge you for the towing but they cannot charge you a ticket or additional price just for the towing. Interesting. Thats complicated. It is complicated. Yeah. Basically, if the government is not issuing the parking ticket its not legal in the state of california. Thank you, michael.
