The deputy has stabilized but is undergoing surgery right now. The 27yearold suspect was arrested at nearby motel. This started at 6 00 when the deputy made contact with the suspect at a light rail station. There was a confrontation and the suspect shot the deputy in the face. The suspect was seen running to a nearby red roof inn. The officer began evacuating guests. I was looking out the window and s. W. A. T. Team basically pointed at me, at the window and said the guy at the window and they had ak47s and told me to get out of the room. The suspect was spotted by a police robot. The deputy was working overtime because security had been increased in several light rail stations. Thousands of employees in San Francisco are eagerly looking forward to this weekend when the minimum wage goes up to 14 dollars an our. But its not enough to keep up with the cost of living in the bay area. Heres. Reporter saturday cant come soon enough for a lot of minimum wage earners. Right now its 13 an hour which means many who work in restaurant kitchens, retail or as drivers work multiple jobs to afford life in the city. 14 is still not enough for many and many people still cant afford to live at 14 an hour. I think if you are a Small Business owner in San Francisco it can be detrimental because you will have to cut your payroll to make up the difference, you know, people might work less hours now. We were in the Castro District where a muni bus and delivery truck collided. Muni had to reroute service on castro street. No one was seriously hurt but both drivers and seven people on the bus were taken to the hospital. With a bus load of people, the weight of both vehicles it could have been very bad. But its fortunate everything was minor injuries. Investigators are checking video and talked to witnesses trying to determine what happened and who was at fault. A small brush fire served as a large warning of what could be ahead for marin county. The fire burned in acres so rough two trucks blew tires just getting there. It charred 40 acres. A concern is much of marin county has not burned in 50 to 60 years, leaving decades of dry fuel now surrounded by homes. A plan is in the works to clean a toxic algae in the oakland hills.
