No google employees were hurt in the fire. In fact, those i talked with didnt realize anything had happened, let alone something so serious. Hear an explosion and people sta running out. Reporter it wasnt old for business but he said there were 20 people nearby. First thing i noticed was a guy stumbling out. One guy got badly injured. They were aemting ttempting t a deep fat frier and there was a splash. Reporter the kitchens Fire Suppression system put out the flames but the damage was already done. Six people were hurt, three went to the hospital, one with lifethreatening injuries. Any time youre dealing with fire it can happen. Even relatively small fire. We are following new developments tonight on the story we first brought you nearly two weeks ago. Flaring at the valero refinery, it has been intermittent since may 5th and tonight we are learning about some persisting problems still bothering neighbors. Abc7 News Reporter Cornell Bernard joins us live from benicia with the story. Cornell . Reporter alma, it may be weeks before this refinery is back to normal operation after some flaring incidents this month. One last week apparently much worse than the city thought. Check out the oily mess on these car windshields parked near the Valero Benicia refinery. The mystery residue started drifting from the refinery monday. Valero reportedly offering free car wash vouchers to drivers affected. It all began may 5th when a power outage caused flaring. Black smoke pouring from the refinery stacks. Fernando shot this video. Something was wrong because, you know, we never see the smoke like that. Reporter many homes and businesses told to shelter in place, but the following monday there was more flaring and people got sick. I had one employee throw up. I had since 30 to the emergency room, and we didnt get any notice about anything going on beforehand. No ones talking about it now. And im a little upset about it. New tonight, three people fell off a ferris wheel in Washington State in Port Townsend north of seattle. They tumbled at least 15 feet onto the metal base at the bottom of the ride after one of the baskets flipped upside down. A 59yearold woman was flown to a trauma center. One of the other victims is a 6yearold boy. Doctors say all the victims will survive. The ride is shut down, of course, as investigators try to figure out exactly what went wrong. I jumped off the Golden Gate Bridge on september 25th of the year 2000. It was a monday. On august 20th, 1985, i jumped off the Golden Gate Bridge and i survived. Reporter more than 1600 people have taken their lives this way. Less than 2 survive. Kevin heinz and ken baldwin want you to know the feeling they both had the moment they jumped.
