They just made a big mess. They took everything out. They trashed everything out, and they just made a big mess. Reporter marias honda was also broken into at the villa as papillion condo where almost every resident was a victim. 23 cars were burglarized. I have to get it cleaned up. In fremont, cornell bernard, abc 7 news. The number of People Killed in mondays devastating fire in oakland has climbed to four tonight as survivors try to cope with their new reality. Flames spilled from the building on san pablo and athens avenue early yesterday morning. One woman told us they knew those who died. Two, possibly three, i did know them. We havent had a chance to mourn yet. Thats why were it is hard. The building was home to a nonprofit transitional housing program. It is now unstable and soon will be demolished. The cause of that fire has not yet been determined, but, of course, it is still early in the investigation. The fallout continues tonight in san jose weeks after that devastating flooding there. In a letter sent to mayor sam liccardo today, the Water District demanded to know why the city didnt evacuate endangered neighborhoods before the flood water. Reporter dan, the citys answer to that question tonight is weve already admitted our mistakes, we would like to move forward. Both sides will come together for a special meeting here tomorrow to hash things out. The santa clara Water District says san jose leaders had all of the data and warning they needed ahead of the flood. In a letter to the mayor, the district asks why didnt the city act. Were not sure exactly what the trigger was. What was the city waiting for to decide whether or not to call for mandatory evacuation also. Reporter the city Spokesman Says theyve answered that question several times. He says the city made a flawed assumption based on bad data. We recognize Going Forward we have to have much lower trigger points for making decisions based on what we know that creek cannot handle. In san jose, Katie Marzullo, abc 7 news. Victims of ongoing mail theft in martinez are focusing anger on the local post office. Residents are upset at the pace of repairs to mailboxes targeted by thieves. It is a huge inconvenience because victims now need to pick up deliveries in person at the local post office. Residents complain it can take 45 minutes to get their mail, and they are demanding that the Postal Service fix their mailboxes. Theres nothing in there since like end of january, february. It is pretty sad. Were still waiting. The lines are actually getting longer. The Postal Service tells abc 7 news mail theft is a growing problem throughout the state. They could not say when the mailboxes in martinez would be fixed. A meeting between angry members of the Sacramento Community and federal immigration officials got very loud tonight. The community is under attack what do we do . Things got really heated on both sides, fuelled by President Trumps hardline stance on undocumented immigrants. Some protesters were escorted out. Immigration officials invited to the event by the Sacramento County sheriff said theyre only enforcing the law when they make arrests. A woman who climbed 150 feet up a construction crane in Downtown Los Angeles and locked herself in the cab is in custody tonight. The situation got scary when the woman rapid a black cord around her neck while walking outside the cab. Police eventually got a harness on her and escorted her down the stairs. She was taken to the hospital for Mental Health evaluation. The future of woodsides pig scramble was at stake at a Town Council Meeting tonight. This is what a pig scramble looking like, by the way. Kids chase and capture pigs at the towns annual july 4th junior rodeo. Sponsors say no one is hurt, especially not the pigs, adding it helps kids learn about animal also.
