Police say a man in a truck ran over the warehouse worker who tried to stop him from stealing wooden pallets at True World Foods. Reporter eric and ama, we still dont mow the name of the man who bravely tried to stop the suspect from stealing the pallets today. Tonight he is under arrest charged with homicide. A ford f250 pick up with wooden pallets is hauled away with evidence where it was spotted by Oakland Police officers hours after the truck was involved in a deadly hitandrun. We know we have located the vehicle responsible for todays homicide. You saw that truck over there. When we saw the guns we knew it had to be something serious. Reporter he saw Police Searching for the suspect identified as Kadeem Edwards from richmond. He was caught minutes later. They chased him and eventually found him under a parked vehicle. Reporter the suspect and his pick up were seen on Surveillance Video on the loading dock of True World Foods where the suspect was stealing wooden pallets. An employ econ fronted the man and tried to stop him from leaving, but the pick up ran the worker down killing him. Obviously tried to stop a crime today and paid the tragic price of trying to do what was the right thing to do. Very scary and shocking. Ama police are investigating two weekend Sexual Assault claims. The first happened friday night. She said she was at a social event at an off Campus Fraternity. The next morning she reported unwanted sexual contact. Then another female student reported she was at an off Campus Fraternity where an uh acquaintance assaulted her. Ama new at 11 00, a former bay area student is in a coma after falling down the stairs of his college frat house. He hit his head on sunday morning at the university of nevada reno. They made three taser deployments and then retreated until they were backed up to cars. Then an officer fired two shots striking alt who died from his wounds. The guy turned out to be a friend of the family. I saw him around. He used to play lacrosse with the boys next door. Police describe the mans behavior as erratic. It is unclear why he approached the home in the first place. The District Attorneys Office is investigating the shooting. In santa cruz, abc7 news. Tonight we are learning more about a gunman who shot a San FranciscoPolice Officer in the head. 26yearold mick das mc worter wounded officer kevin downs after officers chased him and shot him. He died at the hospital yesterday. Police sources tell us he had a po box in pacifica, but he lived in a van in San Franciscos sunset district. Abc7 news sources say he was struggling with mental issues and his family tried to help him, but were unsuccessful. Tonight a man is hospitalized with three gunshot wounds. He is accused of ambushing police at a starbucks pulling an assault rifle. He allegedly pointed the gun at officerses again. A short while earlier a 2yearold son was shot at a home under mysterious circumstances. Relatives wonder if that shooting affected his state of mind. He was a really good man. I i dont know what would have went through his mind. He was probably really distraught. Police say powell is a convicted felon with robbery and drug offenses. He is in Critical Condition and his son is expected to survive. Inmates at the Santa Clara County jail are on a hunger strike. They learned at least 125 inmates refused to eat today. They say the department has not implemented recommendations of the blue ribbon commission. They are upset over the food, clothing and commissary prices. Medical staff are monitoring the inmates health. San franciscos Public Utility Commission promises fixes to the sewage system that sometimes floods when there is too much rain. Residents lined their homes with sandbags this weekend even though there was not enough rain to cause flooding. The rain makes them anxious because two years ago downpours sent raw saw wedge rushing into into sewage into homes m the puc updated the progress on making city wide changes.
