Firefighters just brought a twoalarm wildfire under control at the end of Communications Hill boulevard east of the freeway in san jose. It started around 9 30. It charred a large area on interstate 580 near livermore. These fires could be fore shadowing of a hot summer to come. Wayne freedman has the details. There were times this afternoon when interstate 80 looked not so much like a highway to hell as one going through it. This began as a small divider at roughly 2 20 and then took flight through the altimont pass. The brakes lock up and someone is dragging a chain with a trailer. Diesel engine is sooting up. There are a number of things that can happen. Whatever happened burned 75 acres and that was a day with relatively high humidity. They stopped traffic and here is how it looked to one driver who posted these shots on twitter and then september them to us. No wonder the fire caused three small accidents. There is an accident in front of me. That is tatia hernandez. Here is the accident seen from sky 7 after it happened. There were no major injuries among drivers or passengers. The toyota was not nearly as fortunate. I hit the brakes and still hit the car. They battled the flames for an hour and a half.
