Abc7 News Reporter alan wang is near the scene and has the latest. Alan . Dan and ama sadly that man lost his life out here. Firefighters pulled him out of the burning building and they took him across the street and tried to resuscitate him but he was already gone. Lets go to sky 7hd live where it looks like they have the upper hand on this blaze. A large section of the roof collapsed about an hour ago. Since then they have been pumping thousands of gallons of water on it. This was a massive fouralarm fire that had 125 firefighters battling the flames from all sides of the building. It started around 6 30 on the third floor which is mostly residential. People were seen scrambling out of windows and on to tire escapes. There were a boy and his dog rescued and a 5yearold girl who was missing and then found. At least six people were transported to the hospital suffering from burns and smoke inhalation. There was a lot of panic and chaos out here. All the while firefighters were rushing into that burning building looking for more victims. One of the tenants tells me he didnt even know the building was on fire until he saw the firefighters. Probably around 6 35 or so i heard somebody shriek on the second floor. And then didnt think anything of it because there are kids that live up there and run around a lot. And then about five minutes or less later i saw them pull up on Mission Street and looked out the window and they were looking up at us. The fire was really big. People were trying to escape through the fire escape, but they couldnt bring the last fire escape to get down to the street level because the signs were blocking it. And firefighters had to use a ladder to get those folks down. This thing created a huge cloud of smoke that was blowing across highway 101. At this time all of the firefighters have been pulled out of the building and they are now in a defensive mode pouring massive amounts of water on this fire. Coming back live, we are dealing with some minor Flooding Issues with all of the water flowing down in the gutters. But it is in control at this time.
